No baby anymore... The Little One(tm) is now 2, running us ragged and making us nuts. I'm sure he'll calm down in two months, when (G-d willing, ptu ptu ptu) he becomes an older brother... :)

Best Wishes for an easy delivery & a healthy baby.  As for the calming down, don't count on it the opposite might happen. ;D

DR Ginny I had a Barbie game, must have been a birthday gift because I intensely disliked the doll.  I loved the game though.  I don't remember if it was called Queen of the Prom.  I remember I had to get my Barbie a dress and a date.  Is that the same game?

Once my life settles down a bit and a major project is put to bed, I'll be looking for a buyer for my ORIGINAL Barbie (aka BARBIE #1) (with the original box) and her wardrobe, including the outfit shown on the top right. If any of you know any Barbie lovers who would be interested in purchasing her or her stuff, pls let me know. She's a blonde and in good condition.

Speaking for myself, even as kids some of us were aware that dear Barbie's anatomy wasn't exactly realistic and there was pressure to look--and act--a certain way. For many years I refused to wear pink because of all the pressure to be ultra-feminine. I just wanted to be myself.

The only performer I didn't like AT ALL was the Beggar Woman played by a dear friend of DR ELMORE's. - Victoria Clark.

Ms Clark, as you know, won a Tony for her affected affecting performance in THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA and her investment in a lot of good PR.  This leads to another LITP performer, David Burnham, who just called me with a job and who is now my new best friend.

Hiya, kidz, hiya.

I loved Chutes and Ladders. Checkers. Scrabble.

Couldn't bear Trivial Pursuit the one time I was forced to play it at a party. Monopoly was ok if there were vodka involved...

An Administrative Assistant of Northwest Folklife emailed about travel arrangements for my interview... wow, it may actually be a very classy operation!! I always loved the Festival, and now I'm gonna love the interview. They offered overnight accommodations for the Friday and Saturday eves I'll be there - so I don't have to shlep back and forth from the cabin in this weather. How very nice of them!

With no disrespect for the effect such pressures had upon you, I cannot help but think that too little is made of poor Ken's plight...

Of course, I am a Scrabble fan-atic.  I used to love Monopoly.  I've played Trivial Pursuit, but am not that good at non-entertaiment questions.  When I was very little we had some sort of Major League baseball game that my brother and I loved playing on Saturday mornings.  I don't know that I played any others as a kid - never did Clue or Parchesi or any of those games.  My darling daughter loved Chutes and Ladders and Candyland, and later, as a teen, we played Scrabble all the time (see Adventures With My Father).

Speaking of games, we are thinking of buying the game memory (i think that is what it is called) for little megan.  She is probably too young for it (it's the game where you have matched pairs hidden). But we're curious to see if she could do it.  She seems to remember words very well.  She knows a bunch of songs. And last night when i was reading her a 30 page book. Just for the fun of it i skipped the last word of each line (it mostly rhymes but it's still a lot of words on each page). And i'd say she remembered 90% of the last words (every second line). Now granted she's read the book a ton of times. But i don't think i'd be able to give most of the words she did.

Jennifer -- about the poutine:  I guess it's the gravy that I'm not used to.  Even when I go to St. Hubert's, I leave the gravy alone.  Ah, St. Hubert's -- the best finger licking, chicken around!

DR GINNY,
I read Laurie King's LOCKED ROOMS while taking care of this bug. I do love, love, love Laurie King. As I've read virtually all the works of my favorite mystery authors, could you recommend a couple books or authors who write as well as Ms King?

DR Angela, I don't normally eat gravey with my french fries either. But i guess it's sort of like mashed potatoes and gravy.  I actually think it would be harder to get used to eating the fries with cheese!

Oh and re: PUSHING DAISIES, DR MattH and others, raul esparza will be on the show:

Of course, the ultimate shame is that neither can ever have children!

And if Barbie thinks of running off with one of Ken's friends, she's in for a big shock.   ;)
