*And I have to say I was PISSED when I saw the production of Merrily that Arena Stage mounted in the early 90s.  David Garrison was Charlie, Victor Garber was Frank, Becky Ann Baker was Mary and Marin Mazzie was Gussie.  In any case...

The program listed "Hills of Tomorrow" bookending the show. Alas, when it came time for the finale, there were no "Hills".  Totally ruined the show for me.  Well, not totally, but I felt a bit cheated.

And isn't it ODD that the only complete musical setting of that number is found in the vocal SELECTIONS.

Well, it might also be in the ALL SONDHEIM volumes; I can't remember at the moment.

In any case...

The internet connection here at the hotel seems really spotty tonight.  Again.  :-\

But I shall post while I can.

They're treating your company pretty shabbily, IMHO.

Spotty internet?  Bar that doesn't stay open to accommodate your hours?

-And the piano vocal/score... Which I sort of find a bit "weird", since the version that is currently licensed does not resemble the "for sale" version of the P/V score.  But I am thankful it's still in print.

And I think the only complete RECORDING of that number may be that old Los Angeles Chorale Sondheim LP that has never been issued on CD.

Well... I really can't complain all that much... John Kander treated me to dinner tonight.  :)

And I have to say, that sure is one tasty(!) burger at Dressing Room.

DR JoseSPiano, I'm looking at that vocal score right now.  Maybe my memory is playing tricks with me, but I could have sworn there was a whole middle section with new musical material that was never on the OBC.

I don't see that here, though.  I had thought it was published in the vocal selections.

Hmm...

I think it appears on a Gay Men's Chorus CD too - although, I can't remember which one.  -Which CD, nor which chorus.

I'm confused...

Doesn't Los Angeles Chorale = Gay Men's Chorus?   ;)

Well, perhaps not.   Everyone in the movie business appears to be closeted.

I think you may be right.  And I think I remember asking Mr. Sondheim about that extra material.  I'm trying to remember if what appears in the vocal selections was the original version, or if that material came from the La Jolla version.  -Which is where some of those songs in the vocal selections come from ("Honey", etc.).

*I guess I/you could check freehandmusic.com to see if it's in their inventory.

*FreeHand is the new version of Sunhawk - which is the online publishing division of Warner Bros.

Well, Mr. Kander did.  Since I had to be functional for rehearsal...

And if I had known that Mr. Kander was treating, I would have ordered the lobster.  ;D

I was referring to that riff of several weeks ago, where I thought DR elmore3003 was getting grief for referring to working on all his manuscripts BY HAND.
