Today we are going to set the lights....in theory.I like theory lights. But they're sometimes hazy for the audience.
And the word of the day is: COPROLALIA!
The nice thing about reusing flats, is that you can remember some of the shows they were used for before....there's a lot of ARSENIC AND OLD LACE on my set right now. ;D
Good morning, all! I have an appointment with my new doctor, Dr Miller, at 10 am, and that's the best news I have had in several days. I'm hoping she can rethink some of my meds and give me an antibiotic to clear up the swelling in my cheek. Oy! I look like Vincent Price in THE WAX MUSEUM.
So, after the doctor, there will be most likely a trip to my Lincoln Center pharmacy. Susanna Moross Tarjan wants to talk to me about her father's opera SORRY WRONG NUMBER, so I know that after 1 pm I will be talking to her. I also have to stop at the post office to send something to our DR JRand59 to thank him for the St Joseph real estate aid.
TOD: When I feel really lousy and fear my extinction approaching, the least thing I want to think about is a disaster film. I want to go out laughing.
When I was a kid I loved WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE; I read the book and its sequel many times during school, and I have no idea how the film holds up after 50 years of advanced technology. Badly, I'd guess, but I have the memories.
INDEPENDENCE DAY
THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE
Greetings from Cancun. Weather is cloudy today with a chance of enchiladas. Seriously, I'm not sure what will happen with the weather. The widget says thunder storms, which means absolutely nothing. It will be nice to see the sun before we leave (Sunday morning). But at least we are not home and working. I'm not complaining. :)
And the word of the day is: COPROLALIA!
TOD:
DANTE'S INFERNO
THE LAST VOYAGE
When I was a kid I loved TOWERING INFERNO, POSEIDEN ADVENTURE, and EARTHQUAKE. Don't know that I would put them in my "favorites" now, however.
DR ELMORE - St Joseph is indeed on his way to Ohio!
Stitches come out today.
:)
If that property had been in the estate and not foolishly deeded to the three of us, I would have had a realtor the day after my dad's death and I wouldn't be waiting for death and my estate to settle the sale. It won't be in my lifetime.
And the word of the day is: COPROLALIA!
I am back from Dr Miller, whom I really like, and the pharmacist. I have a terrible dental abscess, no dental insurance, and a need to sell that damned property so I can pay for the work I need, so keep them real estate vibes coming. Dr Miller has me on antibiotics to fight the abscess and, as soon as my check from the last McGlinnventory arrives, I'm off to the NYU dental clinic. However, selling that property for $700,000+ would certainly alleviate my dental worries, and I know my two jerk brothers, who foolishly don't want to involve a realtor who would take too much money from what is essentially FOUND MONEY, will settle for only more than that.
They have cut our shift in half, so I went from mega-overtime to four hours a day. Go figure. But I returned home to discover that a resume I sent in online has been seen and they want to talk with me, first over the phone. That's good news, at least.

Can't you insist that they do something? (hire the realtor)
It seems like you should go there and take charge of things. Or at least convince the one brother you like to do something. Wouldn't explaining how much you need the money at least convince them to try.
I know "they" say you should try and stay up all the way through on your first night when travelling to Europe, but I just had to take a nap. Afterwards I took the "hop-on, hop-off double decker bus tour of Dublin, which last about 90 minutes (if you don't get off the bus). It's a very interesting place. The weather is as expected-cool and rainy, though there was a little bit of sun for a while.

Is Brent performing in Dublin? I know he and Kim have concerts in the near future.

Funny you should mention that, DR elmore! Brent and Kim Criswell are performing with the Birmingham Symphony in Birmingham on Friday and in Cheltenham on Saturday. They're doing their Rodgers and Hammerstein tribute (they've already done it in Ireland a couple of times).
Very interesting chatter on the film music board about the monumental (some consider it good monumental, some bad) 6 CD (and one DVD) set of Spartacus, for many THE holy grail of film music. CD 1 purportedly contains all the existing stereo tracks. Discs two and three contain the score in mono. Disc four contains alternate and demo cues. Discs five and six contain various versions of the love theme, as performed in tribute. What's not made entirely clear about the latter is that several of those versions have existed for over forty years, including the two Bill Evans' tracks, a Yusef Lateef version, etc. There are newly recorded versions, too, obviously. And there's a 168 page book about the score. As well as a twenty-page booklet about the versions of the love theme, where I hope it is made clear that several of them were not produced for this set.
I will have more to say as soon as I get response to some questions I've asked some experts.
I completely forgot I have a meeting at two with our very own Mr. Kevin Spirtas, whom I haven't seen in a 'coon's age.
DR Elmore - hope the new doctor can help you feel better - {{{{{HUGS}}}}}
Hello from Dublin! It's been an exhausting day and a half! I left home at about 12:30 pm for a 3 pm flight to Raleigh. My flight to London left at about 6 pm , arrived in London at about 6:30 am. Took at flight to Dublin at about 10 am, arrived at my hotel at about 1:30pm!
Bravo for Ask Amber!
Speaking of vampires, is anyone here planning on seeing ECLIPSE?

Saw it and kept trying to hear the orchestra over Nathan's singing!

Jennifer you obviously come from a more reasonable family. He is outnumbered two to one.

Not unless Keith wants to watch. I don't think he will.

Had a nice meeting/visit with Mr. Spirtas - lots happening - we're going to put together a brand new show for him.
Off to make dinner. Got a host of farm-grown heirloom tomatoes and some goat cheese. Sounds like a meal in the making.

LOL-I'm sleepy and it is only 4:00PM
I'm turning my attention now to "God's Secretaries," which you recommended. Had to get through "Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest," which I know you're not very interested in.Off to make dinner. Got a host of farm-grown heirloom tomatoes and some goat cheese. Sounds like a meal in the making.
I just finished Josh Kilmer-Purcell's THE BUCOLIC PLAGUE, DR John G; you might enjoy it. I really did!

In spite of the fact that my Facebook account got hacked, there are some advantages to being a member on Facebook. The other day I got an e-mail from a former Tacoma actor, who has been for the last seventeen years or so, an L. A. actor. He played my youngest son in LION IN WINTER. I think we did the show in the late Eighties. He just told me that he taped a reeharsal and I believe the final dress rehearsal of LION. He said he had just gotten his video camera so he was using it for all sorts of things. He says that part of the DVD is Sharry and I in the dressing room talking about the shows we had done together.Sounds like a great memento.
I am so hoping he will send me a copy.

Dental and real estate vibes for Elmore. Glad your doctor was able to start you on some antibiotics.

Edi, I don't suppose your new film will be coming to the Northwest any time soon?

On the contrary. I quite enjoyed it. It was the weakest of the three books for me, but it was from the library and I had read before it was due back. I can renew "God's Secretaries" because there's no waiting list for it. But I'll check out "Bubonic Plague," too, unless you think the musical version will come along in short order.
It's 8:25 here in Austin; still light out...and I'm trying to keep my eyes open until 10:30 or so.
My dog (Missy) is having some gastric problems. She woke me three times last night to let her out...and twice the night before.
The vet gave me some medicine for her today, so hopefully I'll get a decent night's sleep.

Interesting since my weak link was the first book. I wonder if having to "get through it" too a little away from your pleasure.
I like the name "God Secretary" even if I don't want to read the book. :)

I'm familiar with it. You might check out using Pet Dophilus from Jarrow in conjunction with the Flagel and then continue using it. We give it to Sherlock every day. http://www.jarrow.com/product.php?prodid=145

TOD - our family is quite fond of INDEPENDENCE DAY and will soon have to fulfill our tradition of watching it on or around the 4th of July every year.
They have cut our shift in half, so I went from mega-overtime to four hours a day. Go figure. But I returned home to discover that a resume I sent in online has been seen and they want to talk with me, first over the phone. That's good news, at least.
