DR EDISAURUS - I forgot to mention that because of one of YOUR posts yesterday, I am now intrigued Intrigued and INTRIGUED by Hick Hop.

I Play Chicken with the Train is especially good. But he's no Johnny Mercer. Or Guy Haines.

I really like UGLY BETTY. It is very unusual but addictive.

I watched most of 1 VS 100 (the new gameshow), but missed the very end.

<just comments, no show spoilers>.

I found it quite enjoyable.  Many of the questions were quite easy. And you have two "helps" which help.

I really wonder if anybody will watch it though. I don't know if NBC promoted it at all. I did see a few promos on the Canadian station that it is carried on.

It was sort like MILLIONAIRE with the multiple choice aspect. And it's interesting to watch the "mob" (ken jennings and the other 100) dwindle down.

I'm curious DR MattH if you liked it.

DR Cillaliz, re: DANCING WITH THE STARS.

I heard about sara evans quitting this morning. I wish that willa would be back on, but not sure if that would be fair. Plus since she's clearly not popular it won't make much difference (since the public's vote is really the only vote that counts).

I know that they have the schedule all worked out. But in season one they had only 2 dancers on the finale, but last year they had three. So maybe they will simply go back to 2?

Btw, there is a website that tracks the public's votes fairly accurately.  You won't believe who the most popular is.

don't read if you don't want to know.

i guess this is sort of a spoiler.

I can't remember the numbers exactly. But mario was #2. But he only had like 11% of the vote. And many others were close behind with 9% (joey), jerry (i think maybe 6%). But they had emmitt with 25% of the public's vote. That is crazy. That means he is by far the most popular.  I knew he would be popular but not that popular. Hopefully that means that 75% won't vote for him. And that once some others go, the votes will change a bit.   I do like emmitt. BUt to me he is just okay. I wonder how much of the vote is also for cheryl (who won last year). I think she is very popular.

I think that mario and joey are the best (i thought willa was very strong too). ANd i think monique is good for the girls. I hope jerry goes this week.

I liked 1 VS 100 - the questions were interesting although not particularly challenging.  And the scoring system is very good.

"I Play Chicken with the Train" - I shall seek it and find....thanks DR EDISAURUS.  8)

Oooops! I was confusing you with DR Laura! Please forgive me! (See, I should never be allowed to speak in public!)

As for you, young lady, anyone who looks that good and has a 30 year old son is someone most women would call "their worst nightmare"! What's your secret? (Please don't tell me you drink the blood of virgins or something...)

That can't be it!  She lives in Oregon.  There are no virgins in Oregon.

"The Orchestrator" would actually be a good name for a Musical mafia person.  Or else "The Arranger."  Or has that one been mentioned before?  if so, then that's where I heard it.  :)

When Skip played the piano in the Playwrights Horizons production of HERRINGBONE years back, the official character name of the piano player as listed in the published script was Thumbs DuBois.  That character name's always struck me as somewhat thuggish.

I finished THE LITTLE MERMAID DVD tonight, and about halfway through the disc, the audio problems do begin and continue for the rest of the disc. There are phase and channel separation artifacts all over the place, and it's very distracting. Sadly, that's the only English soundtrack on the disc, so one is stuck with that.

Disney really should recall the disc because that is just unacceptable. I saw nothing whatsoever wrong with the video.

I rewatched GREY'S ANATOMY since last night's broadcast was interrupted twice near the end by the local affilliate. In fact, I heard from the station today after lodging a complaint. Here's what the lady said in the e-mail:

"We regret that you experienced the interruptions in last night's
programming. We take responsibility as the problems originated at WSOC.

To briefly explain the circumstances, we usually receive details about
network shows we air that include 'show timings' that detail the
commercial breaks which vary per episode. We did not receive the timings
from ABC last night. This caused our software to inject the local break
at the incorrect times, interrupting the show.

Again, we apologize for the interruption and always strive to maintain
the very highest standards for our viewers."

I enjoyed 1 vs. 100. The questions were fairly easy (I like that there is a fair amount of show biz trivia which certainly makes it easier for me; there was only one question tonight that I wouldn't had to guess on), but it's a fun game.

LAW & ORDER featured a timely case involving a murder of a seeming Islamic terrorist by seeming white supremists. Of course, things weren't what they seemed, and the hour was an entertaining one though not as riveting as many LAW & ORDERs from other seasons.

ARRANGING FOR MURDER - That's my new thriller about the arranger of a Broadway musical who puts in certain notes  as a cue for knocking off...oh, wait, I guess that's been done.  :)

I finally took the plunge and bought a universal remote which came in the mail today. Juggling as many components in my home theater as I do, I finally got tired of having to pick up three or four remotes to get certain things up and running.

Of course, programming and learning any new piece of equipment will take time, but right now, I have all the items programmed into the new remote. Now, I must read about programming macros which can turn on the various components I need to burn a DVD, for example, or to program the DVR with one push of a button.

That manual will be my bedtime reading for this evening.

I did some preliminary work on rearranging the CDs in my office last weekend, but I decided this morning to totally redo the entire set-up, so that will be my chore tomorrow morning before I log onto the internet. I have NO idea how long it's going to take me.

DR Edisaurus and DR Jrand56, with all the discussion this week of "lurid" movies...have you guys seen these two double features...lovely examples of made in Florida or New York exploitation from the 60s?

I think it is time for me to settle in front of the TV for the evening!

Somebody's been buying my books at amazon.  With the exception of Kritzerland, they've all jumped several hundreds of thousands in the sales rank, with the new book and Writer's Block both being at 65,000 or so - not bad considering there are over three million books listed.

I just saw "It's a Sick, Sick, Sick World!" on Something Weird On Demand. Strange courtship rituals of boys making out with boys, men going into theatres to photograph professional models who end up tying each other up and performing the whipping "ritual", and a woman who crawls out of a bus station locker with a block of heroin which she paid for after a busy night of prostitution so she could give her boyfriend a fix. Sounds like a typical night on Peachtree Street!

RODZINSKI = Tom Tom

It's 60 degrees in my house, so I am going to try to figure out a way to make it warmer. Making the house warmer is usually Greg's job but he's up in the mountains filming some "grizzly situations". Brrrr....too cold to type---or edit! Definitely a 3 cat night.
