Well, you've read the notes, the notes were mutant notes, and now it is time for you to post until the mutant cows come home.

Good morning, all!

I have another ordeal at the NYU Dental Clinic this morning, and I will head out around 7:30 for the trek. I hope it's not too horrendous. After that, I'm back to my desk. I doubt I will finish the act one finale today, but I'd like to get as far as possible today.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Vibes for DR TCB, Cillaliz, and All Travails today! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
TOD: A roasted chicken with crisp skin on top and moist meat underneath. You can dress it up by sliding truffle slivers under the skin or butter or mushrooms. But it's the chicken that matters most.
I've noticed too many chickens of late like the one BK described. I think it's the way we produce our chickens. Or mass produce them.
Monday morning greetings!  After my 2.5 hour nap yesterday afternoon, I still managed to sleep well last night, but woke up quite early.  That's OK, because I have several things to do before Richard and I head to Cincinnati to see The Double Hour, an Italian film that we heard reviewed on the radio yesterday.
In other news... Well...
I need to get ready to head in for my Oklahoma! prep/production meeting. It's going to be a purely "musical" one, and, thankfully, the conductor wants to limit it to four hours so we don't get too overloaded with details by the end of the day. -And then it looks like I'll be having dinner with some friends from New York City who happen to be down this week for some sight-seeing, show-seeing and restaurant-going.
TOD:
I actually had a very tasty chicken dish at a restaurant Saturday evening--a grilled chicken penne pasta salad with artichoke hearts and roasted peppers in a very delish garlic wine sauce.  The odd thing was the waiter offering to sprinkle fresh grated Parmesan on it, which in my mind didn't work.  I declined his offer.
I am back, having delivered some items to the garage sale site and having NOT mailed a package at our local post office.  There were probably a dozen people in line, only one of 4 service points working (slowly, at that), and it was hot as you-know-what.  My friend in Tulsa can wait for her bookmarks and reading-themed note cards.  I'll go to the Monroe PO today or Franklin tomorrow.
We had a tremendous thunder storm Saturday night at THE MUSIC MAN followed by torrential rains....so it was very IOWA-like to be sure.
Yesterday's Celebration of a Life went very well....I ALMOST made it through my talk.....only about 5 minutes or so, but the end was very difficult.
Nice music, Ernie's son Jim, a NY Actor, read some Shakespeare, his wife talked about him, Father Bill from the Episcopal church gave a nice remembrance, and I was last.
Then the floor was opened for thoughts, which is always a crap shoot.....but the majority of the people were very nice to hear.
Thank you, DR Jose! It was a very easy morning at the Clinic. Everything ran smoothy as far as transportation and it only took be 30 minutes from door to door. This was the final fitting of my new plates. I have an outstanding balance due of $470, which I eill try to pay off with my June 15 invoice. God knows what they're doing next, but everyone seems happy. So far.
DR Ben, did they give you fees, etc. when you called and made your appointment? The rates are very reasonable.
DR Ben, did they give you fees, etc. when you called and made your appointment? The rates are very reasonable.
Yes, they did quote fees. It's amazing the difference between them and a dentist office with all the trappings. The reason I haven't been to a dentist in 6 years is because of cost! I (we) don't have dental insurance and I can't afford it. Unfortunately I now have some problems that must be attended to so based on your visits and another friend who uses the clinic I jumped in and made the appointment. I'm looking forward to having someone fix me (literally, not metaphorically)
In the continuing saga of our HD TV that died a premature death, we received a call on Friday from the repair shop that told us it would cost more to repair than replace.  They were getting ready to dispose of it and noticed a sticker on the back that says our warranty expires on 8-15-11.  Miraculously, Richard and I were able to put our hands on all the paperwork and he called Target today.  They're sending a box to ship it to them and we're hoping for a gift card in the amount of our purchase price.  We've been to the repair shop and picked up the set and on the way I mailed my package at the Franklin PO.
DR GINNY - when my Polaroid HD 37" television stopped working under warranty.....I was sent a prepaid UPS box....and sent my television in.
A couple of weeks later it came back repaired....and it's been working since....almost two years.  I had the WalMart extended warranty - and it went to New Jersey someplace.....but came back.
That's great!  My plasma TV was a display model, so it only had a one-month-no-hassle-return and a six-month warrenty.  I've had it two years now, so if anything happens, I will just have to get a new TV.  So far, so good!
Meeting vibes for DR JOSE.
Thank You, DR JRand.
My meeting/work session went very well. It actually went a little better than I thought it would especially since I thought I was a bit under-prepared for today. But, as it turned out, that was sort of a good thing. We basically did a play-thru of the score, and along the way I asked questions about tempos and visual cues. We took about two hours to cover the first half of the show - well, up to the Ballet - then broke for lunch. Then we took another two hours after lunch to finish the show. It was very productive and informative session.
We had planned to get together for dinner tonight, but since they got in a little later than expected, we just ended up walking around for a bit. It's been a little weird(?) reading about the passing of Andrew Gold the past few hours. He died on Friday, and I could have sworn I saw reports about his death over the weekend. But all the major news services started carrying the news today. ??? -Who knows? Maybe I just saw it RTd - Re-Tweeted - so many times on Twitter that I thought I saw it posted over the weekend.
I just can't believe how carelessly stupid he was with sending out all of those pics. I believe it was Gawker that had a great analysis of one of the shirtless pics he sent out... from his home office! The pic only shows him from the chin down, but in the background there are pics of him and Bill Clinton, as well as a picture of him and his wife.
And, of course, all the news services are pulling out all the remaining puns regarding his last name. ;)
His Mom and I were discussing  scheduling  the parties since they hang with the same group of friends and we did mot want to conflict -  well I had a great venue and she is married to a chef!!  So we decided to pool resources and throw a joint party
I'm just thinkin' we'd best have a frenzy or three.  It won't be Sam who is busy playing and didn't make the Gardenia and didn't pick up stuff she seemed to want.  No, it won't be Sam.
It was 100 degrees here today.  It wasn't that humid though and really remided me of living in Phoenix.  I was shocked to discover that I rather liked it
I actually had a normal day.   I did drive Paul around and show him the water.  He's been caring for his mom and hadn't seen the river in 5 days.   What a whiner...."it's too hot, it's too buggy"  Sheesh!  Next time I'll go by myself.
The river is rising.  I could really notice it tonight.  I took more photos.  I've been sharing them on the Siouxland Flooding facebook group.   I had some qualms about just letting them go into cyberspace, but I've gotten so many thank yous from people volunteering or people who moved away that I'm glad I'm doing it
Cilla, I printed out Joe's story and put it in our staff room.  I don't know if anyone else will contribute, but you never know.  One person did give me a check, and I mailed it with mine.  You should get it shortly. :)
