Re: my "kind of" brother-in-law in Minot. My sister actually has little sympathy for him (at least if I'm reading her email from yesterday correctly). Evidently Doug has had repeated flooding annually for years (he lives right next to whatever river is in Minot) and the entire family has been urging him to move for years and he has been refusing. Still, it's not good news.
Oddly, since the 1969 they built huge dikes that typically hold water but this is an unprecedented event. They only area of Minot has issues with the Souris (Or Mouse River - some US maps list that) is around the 83 viaduct.
The flood waters have already devastated the town of Burlington which is just west of Minot.
There are some who are suspecting that either Canadian officials or the US Army Corps of Engineers screwed up big time. The numbers are not making sense. IMHO, I thought the original numbers were a little low because of the amount of rain that southeastern SK got. I think there will be an investigation after all is said and done. Somethings just do not add up. Part of me suspects that soneone screwed up
