When I was house pianist at 13 Coins in downtown Portland, Mr. Robert Goulet walked into the joint after a concert he had given across the street at Keller Auditorium.  I launched into The Happy Time, which I thought would be a nice, lesser known homage to him.  He came over, thanked me, and left me a nice tip.

I rather enjoyed the Armstrong Floor, Ceiling, and Wax version of "Brigadoon"  ...  all done in about 81 minutes.

Mr Goulet got much better as the story went along - acting wise - although his face is so....weird, it's hard to watch him sing for any length of time.....

Ms Sally Ann Howes was very good as Fiona and Frank Fuller or someone was Charlie.....ballet dancer Edward Villella was Harry Beaton - and his sword dance was good......they left out all of the lyrics of the 'chase' which made me sad.....but the sets were very nice....the costumes.....okay....  Ms Marlyn Mason played Meg.....

We saw Mr Goulet do MAN OF LA MANCHA many years ago - and he was very good....

Mr. Goulet's teeth were distracting. But Peter Falk made me enjoy his character more than Van Johnson ever did. I, too, found the production well worth watching.

Do you realize that, in about 40 years, we'll have thousands of old ladies
running around with tattoos? (And rap music will be the Golden Oldies!)

Thanks. As I'm approaching my late 80s, I'll hope I can remember to blame you for that observation about the society I'll be facing.

Some advice:  though MBarnum will be begging to be your chauffeur, don't hire him.

There are 48 reservations at the library for "The Book of Mormon." The show will be in its third year on Broadway by the time I get it. But I still feel better than paying $1.99 for something I'll never listen to.

Started watching "Rabbit Hole." As the credits rolled, I thought, "Wow, what a great cast: Aaron Eckhart, Jon Tenny, Patricia Kalember, Dianne Wiest, Giancarlo Esposito ..." Now that the movie has started, I realize I should have been saying, "Uh oh, Nicole Kidman." She's killing the movie for me.

Have you ever noticed how in all her press photos she looks as if she's just smelled a really bad fart?

Or she just slept with Tom Cruise.

According to rumors, I doubt she ever did.

I've been catching a rerun of a "Real Housewives of New York" in which the "countess" LuAnn LeSepps is riding a camel that's trying to throw her. Obviously the camel feels pretty much the way I do about the pretentious twit.

I heard from our E&T DR edisaurus; she's going through a bad period of "personal stuff," helping her father father and working on a film. She sounds harried and sends her love.

Was the 13 Coins in Portland related to the two 13 Coins in Seattle?

Thank you, Elmore. The pix of Ms. Kidman made me glad I stopped the movie and put on Mahler's 9th instead. I've also gotten a page and a half written of my "Sound and the Fury" paper.
