Hi everyone.  Thanks for all the "party" encouragements.  The party was nice, didn't stay too long, but the food was horrendous.  Some people should not BBQ - ever.

Today is a get together at my sisters.  That will be great.  DD Ben will be in attendance and i know the food will be superb.

we are watching JOHN ADAMS

Ah, but how about the "JOHN & ABIGAIL ADDAMS FAMILY" theme, which I trot out every year for the second year in a row

In the spirit of 1776, hope it's OK to bring out this oldie, which assumes a knowledge of the lyrics to "Yours Yours Yours" from "1776"

JOHN & ABIGAIL ADDAMS FAMILY theme song

Thanks if you have time to include this in your July 4 celebration, (it's under 90 seconds)

The Bicentennial was 35 years ago.  ???  :P  :o  ???

Yes, it was, DR Kerry.

And I wonder if DR Elmore remembers celebrating it here in Middletown, OH?

On July 4, 1976, Middletown not only celebrated the Bicentennial, but opened the new city building.  There was a huge parade down Central Avenue, in which our community theater group had a wonderful float - American Theater: 200 Years of American Life.  This is the (almost) entire cast:

DR Elmore designed and oversaw the making of all the costumes.  My dress was gorgeous, complete with corset and bustle:

Yes, DR Laura, it was very hot and muggy that day and we were all melting by the time we reached the city building!

Our float depicted American theater in 1776, 1876, and 1976.  Here's the 1776 scene from Royall Tyler's The Contrast, complete with harpsichord played by our friend Becki:

Our 1876 scene was from classic melodrama.  Yes, it's traditional for the heroine to be in peril, but our costumer DR Elmore, said NO WAY to tying that dress to the buzzsaw!

Finally, our 1976 scene was from THE WIZ and our upcoming season was listed on the back of the float.

We did have fun, DR FJL!  There was a float competition and we were sure we'd win, but the senior citizens beat us.  I'd forgotten that, but Richard remembered and says it was fixed.

Yesterday I had a thought that maybe it was time that DD Ben and I took off and moved somewhere else... like NY.  It was just a thought, but, man, it was a good one - and maybe one to look into.

Good Afternoon!

Brunch has been consumed - cereal with dried cranberries and fresh blueberries. Dishes have been washed. And TV programs continued to be watched.

So far, so good.

DR Matthew - And I'm sure that DD Ben - and yourself, of course - would be very popular in all the various dog parks around the City.

My life of 60 pounds ago and hair on the top of my head is flashing before my eyes.

I opened up a real can of worms at Ohio Light Opera this morning! Hostile emails have been flying and a Facebook series of posts removed. It's been a fascinating morning!

I am listening to a 1962 Percy Faith recording with several Kritzerland connections.

I had forgotten how fantastic you looked in that sucker!

Ron Raines just stopped by and surprised me with a delish sandwich, pastrami on rye from Artie's. Fantastic!

FJL, I didn't name Kritzerland after Leslie - I was having trouble giving my new creation, Benjamin, a last name - I happened to be on one of those boards and there was a thread "What is Leslie Kritzer up to."  The minute I saw Kritzer I knew it was perfect for Benjamin.  I called her, made a lunch date (I happened to be going to NY that week), and told her I was using her last name.  She was delighted.

A few months ago a fellow did a benefit for Michelle Nicastro back in whatever town her college was in.  He'd written me several times and I'd sent him a personal remembrance for the program, along with some photos.  Apparently it went very well.  I got an e-mail from him this morning asking for my help and support (not financial) for an LA version of it to be held at the Catalina Jazz club - that venue seemed mighty strange to me because I think it only seats around 100 or 150 people, tops.  He asked for me to either get the word out or give him my contact list.

Now, as some may or may not know, I tried to do a tribute evening for Michelle right after she passed.  I went to a VERY wealthy TV producer (and now theater director) and asked if he'd help fund it.  This man gives money to everything (he has pots of it), but apparently only if it somehow benefits him, so he said no (he hasn't even had the good taste to donate twenty bucks to the Kickstarter thing and believe me when you have twenty MILLION it would be a nice show of friendship to part with twenty bucks).  So, that didn't happen.  The very last performance Michelle ever gave was in the Menken/Schwartz benefit I did.
