DR Singdaw - thanks for the link about Jim Dale.  I haven't read any of the HP books with my eyes, but have listened to all of them.

When we were in NYC in January 2006 to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, DH Richard and I toured the studios of Recorded Books, Inc.  From observing that process, I suspect that several people know the outcome of the HP series.  In fact, I just heard someone from our book processing department say something about "scanning Harry Potter books."  They were required to sign a confidentiality statement.

Here are some interesting factoids from my library about the new book:

Audiobook on cassette:  46 on order, 84 reserves
Audiobook on CD:  98 on order, 198 reserves (I'm #116)
Book:  84 on order, 946 requests

That book figure is misleading, because there are probably several hundred on order for the Friday night parties at 5 of our locations.  Here's how that's gonna work:

Harry Potter - Celebrate the End

The records for those books will be added to the catalog Saturday or so.

The library where I work has these numbers:

Regular print copies:  121 on order with 630 holds (requests)
Large print copies:  6 on order with 99 holds
Talking books on CD:  20 on order with 291 holds
Talking books on cassette:  15 on order with 136 holds

Our library had a Harry Potter event last week.  I don't know what it was about and I didn't really look at the website page, which is now gone. :-\

Danise painted her mother’s room & has been, with great difficulty, turning it into a guest room.

Singdaw, I don’t have any news of the sleep study results.

Her news at work continues to be scary, just keep those job vibes coming for her.

As a matter of fact I did!!!  Nadia is my new assistant. She will start on Monday.  I think she will work out great. Her credentials are better than I thought they would be.  I called her reference who was her last job and who gave a glowing report. They also told me they run background checks and she passed with flying colors or they wouldn't have hired her and that they were really sorry to lose her.

She's going to finish college in the evenings while she works for me.   I knew the minute she walked in and sat down that she was perfect. I'm thrilled. She starts on Monday.

Great news, Cillaliz!  Congrats to you, too! ;D

Just because you don't have an Equity card, doesn't mean you don't have talent.

Amen!

My favorite appetizers...? Potato skins. Hands down, my very favorites. Closely followed by Chili's Southwestern Egg Rolls, which are too, too, too diveen.

Well, the laundry's done, I've visited the bank to arrange for a new debit card as mine has died, the suitcase is packed and I'm just about to head out to the theatre to do my final show before going on vacation. Woo and HOO! Unfortunately, there are many managerial duties that must be tended to before I can leave, but it shouldn't be too much of a hassle.

DR Saginaw: Thanks for the GYPSY video montage link. I wonder who I know at Broadway Beat who might be able to get me a full copy of the video...? They generally tape the entire show and make B-roll from that, even though I don't think they're supposed to. At least they do with the Actor's Fund concerts...

Have I mentioned that I would have a heart attack if I were to have lunch with THE Lynda Carter (aka Wonder Woman)? Seriously, I'd keel over dead from all the excitement.

You're a lucky man, BK...a very lucky man.

Dear MuaicGuy,

Has your theatre organ club linked up with that NYC Paramount organ being exiled from Seal Beach CA to Phoenix about which I posted  last week?

And if I may take a moment to brag...

Yesterday I was shopping at the GAP with a co-worker who'd forgotten to bring his work pants with him and only had beachwear with him. Anyway, they had shorts on sale, so I thought I'd try on a couple of sizes to see which worked and which didn't. Well...all I can say is that I'm now wearing a size 30 waist. Not even my very own ever-lovin' mother can remember the last time I wore 30s... :D

And also Jason..... I'm very happy for you,... and I can't tell you how envious also.  Believe it or not, these hips used to slide into size 30 "Angel Flights" in the 70s....... and I was rather stunning, if I do say so myself.

der Brucer

Hi derB... just to be clear; the original Wurlitzer from the New York paramount theatre was moved years ago from New York to Wichita, Kansas, where it is still installed and playing in their civic center building.

The organ from Seal Beach, California is the one from the recording and broadcast studio of the Paramount building (I believe on the 9th floor).  It is also a very nice instrument, and will be installed here in a decent 500 seat auditorium at a private facility called "The Beatitudes."  The organ was removed and packed, and will be re-installed by professionals...... it is not a "volunteer club" project.

It should be a very nice instrument in its new home.

These guys would be just about the right age for DR M Barnum.
DR MBarnum does have some recordings by The Shadows - the most successful instrumental group ever in the UK - a pop career spanning 40+ years.

Hank Marvin, on the right of the pic. now lives in Perth Western Australia.
All these men are in their sixties - too young for DR MBarnum.
