Well, you've read the notes, the notes were doin' it, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently doin' it - but that's another story.
-
And the word of the day is: BLUDGE!
-
Topic of the Day: assuming that a TV, a player (VCR, DVD...whatever is appropriate) and an endless power supply is available, I'd choose a show that was funny like "South Park" or "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" Every time I watch these, I laugh and laugh and just when I think I can't laugh any more, I laugh again! ;D

Mary Tyler Moore because I'm from Minnesota.

Good morning, all! The alarm went off at 4:30 but I slept in till 5:15 because 4:30 is too early. Yesterday, after four hours of sporting and cleaning the Toyland office and then another hour cleaning out my storage space, I got home, checked the mail, puttered about, had some dinner, napped during the news, and decided I'd rasther sleep than work. So around 9:30 I went to bed, I had a very strange and funny dream about my brother Randy's wonderful dogs Max and Maddie, woke up at midnight with indigestion and took some Gas-X, which seemed to work. Now I've got 3 hours to work on THE MOST HAPPY FELLA before heading to East 54th to sort through more McGlinnventory.
Today, around 2, I'm meeting with one of McGlinn's best friends from college, whom I've not seen since around 1985. He lives in LA, but he's back seeing his family in Paramus, NJ. After that, back here to continue the Loesser.
TOD: Seinfeld.

DR elmore3003, did you see the McGlinn obit in the current issue of Opera News?
Also - have you considered wearing a surgical mask over at his apartment? It might help relieve some of the dust symptoms.

DR elmore3003, did you see the McGlinn obit in the current issue of Opera News?
Also - have you considered wearing a surgical mask over at his apartment? It might help relieve some of the dust symptoms.
I'm no longer at the apartment; I'm at a law office on Third Avenue and 54th.
I did see the obit. All that incorrect info about him and the Secaucus warehouse is continued because the obituary writer did nothing but reproduce another's incorrect info. For the record, since this will be on the internet for a long time, John McGlinn had nothing to do with the Secaucus discovery; he paid one visit there when he was hired to write the Kern section of the Cataogue of the American Musical Theatre, edited by Tommy Krasker and Robert Kimball, for which he was paid - as I recall - $15,000. He did zilch, which is why the inventory for Kern is not in the book.
His work on SHOW BOAT leading to the complete recordng has nothing to do with the Secaucus warehouse except for one thing: the cut numbers "Apache Dance," the Box Office Scene ("I Would like to
Play a Lover's Part"), and "It's Getting Hotter In The North" were part of the SHOW BOAT materials found in the warehouse, and McGlinn knew where they were because of his incompleted Kern inventory. When SHOW BOAT was in London recording sessions, the negotiations for releasing for the three cut numbers were made, and I went to Warner Brothers Music and collected the material. I took them from Warner Brothers, had them copied and sent to London for the recording, and then returned the originals to the attorney for the Kern estate, the late Harriet Pilpel.

Well I would love The Prisoner but it's only 17 episodes,
So It would have to be Law and Order as of this year they have 19 seasons worth of shows and hopefully by the time I get on the desert isle there will be more.
I do enjoy series so I would look forward to watching them.
Also they don't seem to show the Michael Moriarity seasons anymore.
-
TV Series on a desert island?
LAW & ORDER
These shows never get old...even with multiple viewings.
-
I'll second that.

Can Masterpiece Theatre be considered a series or is that cheating?

Saturday after running errands and doing some house work the Vixter and I went to a local production of Disney's Beauty & the Beast
For an amateur production it was pretty good
-
On Sunday we went to church where I ended up serving at coffee hour since no one had signed up to do the job
I was asked by a lady if I was the Vixter's grandmother
-
I spent all afternoon watching Martin Chuzzelwhit all six episodes.
Poor Tom Pinch
-
Yesterday I ended up working until 6:30 PM - when I got home I was exhausted and fell asleep
-
and that's where I've been instead of here
-
On Sunday we went to church where I ended up serving at coffee hour since no one had signed up to do the job.
I was asked by a lady if I was the Vixter's grandmother.
And the proper response would be:
[ A ] "No, silly - her younger sister!"
[ B ] To pour the coffee over the dear lady's head.
-
I received in the mail yesterday a Census survey of business owners and self-employed persons [I suppose because I treat my singing income as self-employement on my tax returns].
It says that by law, completing the survey is mandatory. I plan to complete and return the survey today, but the mind does wonder...
What would happen if I refused to fill it out and return it??
-
Happy Birthday DR Francois!

ACK! I'nm late for work!

I did get to watch the dancing parts of DWTS last night. Although i probably should have told my niece that she couldn't watch it. That would have made her want to watch!
My sister and baby Jadyn will be coming home from the hospital today!

Isn't it wonderful?
-
At least, DR VIXMOM, you have work for which to be late!

One and a half more orchesra parts proofed. I think I will take some Claritin D and head off to the East Side of town.

Happy Birthday to DR FRANCOIS.

TOD:
Easy for me -
I LOVE LUCY - all of the half hour episodes + the 12 Lucy/Desi Comedy Hours.
Ethel: You know Ricky's temper.
Lucy: Yea, we've met.
Ethel: Well you're gonna meet again, and I don't want to be here for the reunion.
Lucy: My talent is always being hidden under a basket.
Ethel: Can't Ricky help you?
Lucy: You mean Ricky Ricardo the Cuban bushel?
Lucy: And what about when Little Ricky gets older? What will he tell his friends? My father is Ricky Ricardo the internationally known bandleader. And then there's my mother, whose name escapes me for the moment.
Lucy: But, Mother, the bus doesn't come down our street.
Mrs. Magillicuddy: That's what the bus driver tried to tell me.
Fred: Just send the card to Mr and Mrs Fred Horn-inskey.
Ethel: Or as we are more popularly know - the Tagalong Mertzes!
Ethel: That'll never work!
Lucy: It better work or Ricky and Fred'll be planting their footprints somewhere and it won't be Graumann's Chinese!
AND OF COURSE:
Lucy: Are you tired, rundown, listless? Do you poop out at parties!
What's NOT to like?

DR ELMORE - I got the three CD Showboat set at Goodwill yesterday for $2.99.

PERRY MASON would be my choice, with 12 seasons and most of my favorite 1950s favorites popping up in various episodes, it would keep me happily entertained until I was rescued by the Coast Guard.

TOD:
I LOVE LUCY would be a good choice, but I think I would go with Rowan and Martin's LAUGH-IN.
-
LAUGH-IN is also a history lesson.
-
TOD: I think I take either I, CLAUDIUS or SLINGS & ARROWS. Both endlessly fascinating with brilliant acting. Of course, one might want to take the entire Shakespeare Canon that the BBC produced and did many, many years ago..
-
Oh, how I loved LAUGH-IN! I think in all the years it ran, I only missed one show that guest-starred Carrol O'Connor because I had to work at my school's Christmas Bazaar.
I still have the LAUGH-IN Drawing Set, the View Master reels, several of the magazines and an assortment of the trading cards. I had a trash can but I have no idea what happened to that. I never got either of the LPs because my mom heard them played at a party and thought they were too dirty for me to hear.
-
I was asked by a lady if I was the Vixter's grandmother
Ouch! I know how you feel!
-
It's a tough call, but, after serious consideration, I would have to take THE X FILES onto a desert island with me. (Maybe I could also finally learn to like the seasons sans David Duchovny).
THE X FILES has humor, character, suspense, horror and infinite themes. It also has some great guest stars as well as that chemistry between Duchovny and Anderson.
It also has David Duchovny in a red speedo, for those who are into that sort of thing. (and you know who you are). ;)
-
thought they were too dirty for me to hear.

Look how you turned out anyway.

Good morning!
Another very cold (for May) morning with a temperature of 40! Should warm up to the low 70s by the afternoon, but I have the house closed up at the moment. It's 62 inside, and that's plenty cool enough.

TOD:
The ten years of FRIENDS. For me, the shows never cease to amuse, and rare for a long-running series, it never ran out of gas during those years. The last year was a funny and interesting as the first year.
THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW or THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW would also be worthy of consideration, but there are more episodes of FRIENDS, so I'd have more to laugh at.
-
On TV TOnight!™
CBS - NCIS (season finale), THE MENTALIST (season finale), WITHOUT A TRACE (season, possibly series finale)
NBC - MOST OUTRAGEOUS MOMENTS (an hour), LAW & ORDER: SVU
ABC - DANCING WITH THE STARS (three hours, season finale/results)
FOX - AMERICAN IDOL, GLEE (pilot)
CW - REAPER, 90210
FX - RESCUE ME

Today's work project is the ninth James Bond movie: THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN on Blu-ray. In terms of Roger Moore Bond movies, it's my third least favorite with only MOONRAKER and A VIEW TO A KILL more unendurable, but I haven't seen it in some time, so maybe I'll like it more after an absence from it.
-
ABC has just unveiled its new schedule for next season.
Biggest surprise: UGLY BETTY moves to Fridays at 9. The show FLASH FORWARD that ABC has been actively promoting during sweeps will be on Thursdays at 8 in BETTY's old time slot.
CASTLE remains at 10 on Monday.
SCRUBS and BETTER OFF TED will be on Tuesdays at 9 after the DANCING WITH THE STARS results show is no longer needed in that slot.
Wednesday nights on ABC will field a run of four half hour comedies and a new drama at 10, its one night of the week with an all-new slate of shows.
-
Wow! ABC just handed "Ugly Betty" it's final season notice with that time-slot change!!!
And everything I've seen of "Flash Forward" does NOT scream out "8 p.m. before 'Grey's Anatomy'".
Desperation apparently leads to idiotic decision-making.
-
As much as I love "Friends", I have to vote with JRand58 on "I Love Lucy" for the desert island TV series. More classic television, and more belly laughs, than any other show I can think of.
Being on a desert island, I think belly laughs would be essential.

One of the Laugh-In LPs is actually out on CD. I have it. The second one (Laugh-In '69?--it had a black cover) isn't.

Probably not. I hesitate to announce this publicly but I hold a different opinion than most people on the Golden Girls. I think that's all I need to say. I do love Bea Arthur and Betty White (in other shows) and Miss Estelle Getty was amazing in Torch Song Trilogy but, as with many other issues, I am clearly in the minority on this one.

Tuesday morning greetings! I slept for almost 12 hours last night.

Just got a gander at NBC's fall schedule. Sad to say, MEDIUM has been let go along with MY NAME IS EARL.
Many of their dramas are going to have mini-seasons. CHUCK and HEROES, for example, will only air 13 episodes during the season and then leave the air for other 13-week series to take over.

And now I'm REALLY going.
;D

Happy Birthday, Francois.

Have you seen the TV trailer of that new Sandra Bullock-Ryan Reynolds movie? Betty White is in it. In the scene on the trailer I've seen, Bullock is in an ill-fitted wedding dress. Betty White walks up to fiddle with the bodice and says, "It's like an Easter egg hunt." And then she exclaims, "THERE they are!"
That Betty still has her timing down!

DR JRand, I'm pleased you enjoyed the bear story.

HAPPY NATAL DAY, DR FRANCOIS!
-
I'm up, and am alarmed to find the birthday wishes for Francois, as I checked our birthday calendar when I was writing the notes and there was no birthday listed. So, how does everyone know? In any case, a very happy haineshisway.com birthday to Francois from faraway France.
-
I am also alarmed and somewhat annoyed to find out CDs are NOT coming this morning - and she can't, at this time, guarantee we'll be first on the delivery run. I told her I'd hired someone based on her original info and that that is now wasted money for several hours - she had to know they weren't coming this morning and she could have let me know yesterday, but, as always, had no communication. So, it's on her now to get them here first and if she won't guarantee it I'll go directly to her boss, which I may do anyway. She had the print Friday morning, and there's no reason this entire order couldn't have been here that afternoon or Monday morning or afternoon, which is the way it normally works.
-
I emailed him.
Speaking of email, Bruce did you receive & read my email?
-
Yes, got your e-mail, Jane, and all is well.

I cannot put birthday wishes in the notes if people are not on the calendar.

I have been updating the PCPH website and adding information about KISS ME KATE, the Open House, and the Youth Theatre Workshop.
And of course submitting same to local print media and internet calendars. I have to do so in a timely manner according to deadlines and also not be TOO EARLY because our box office doesn't open until May 31 - and I don't want stories published before those reading them can take any action on said stories i.e. BUY A TICKET!!!

I'm shocked, and after what may have been the shows best season. :(
There IS internet chatter that CBS is seriously considering picking "Medium" up.
CBS/Parramount produces the show, so it would be in their best interest to do at least another season for syndication purposes. And *I* think the show would play very well paired with GHOST WHISPERER on Fridays. CBS could also run it after COLD CASE on Sundays at 10.
-
I watched SOUTHLAND while I ate lunch. I still can't stand the characters of Sammy and Tami, but thankfully, they weren't playing a major part in last week's show.

Page Five Dance!!!
-
Then I watched THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN on Blu-ray. Like the other Bonds in HD, it looks wonderful, and Lowry has done a good digital clean-up job (some old clips in the documentaries show how lousy it used to look). The sound was most impressive since they started with a mono source. Some very good surround sound design for the DTS-HD MA track. (The original mono is also included.)
-
When it was over, I started on the massive set of bonus features. I got 7 of the featurettes and documentaries watched, but I know there is more to come. The documentary on Bond stuntmen is next on the docket.

Now I must hop off-line so I can start writing. Then it's back downstairs for more work and play-related viewing.

Me, too! I love(d) this show. :'(
-
There IS internet chatter that CBS is seriously considering picking "Medium" up.
:D Hoo and Ray!!
-
I actually did get up around 8:30... And then again around 10:00... And then 11:15... 12:45... 1:15... 2:40... etc., etc., etc...
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DR FRANÇOIS!!!!!
-
As for the Topic of the Day...
Well... Now that that the first season is finally coming out later this year - with all the music (rights) intact - I'd have to take "thirtysomething" with me. -Although, DVDMediaUniverse seems to carry a complete set - ???
Other candidates for my DIDVDs...
"Six Feet Under"
"Northern Exposure"
-
Here's a link: Ain't It Cool News (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/41113) is speculating that CBS, which produces "Medium", may pair it up with "Ghost Whisperer" on Friday nights.
I'd love to see these two pair up!
-
I've cleared two HUGE hurdles in the workplace today. Just finished up, actually.
There is one to go...bigger than both of the ones just completed. It's complex, but it's taking its time.
Nevertheless, come Friday I ain't coming in to work.

:D Hoo and Ray!!
If the show had been canceled at the end of last season I would not have been all that disappointed. I am it has at least one more season.
-

Did DAW present a note to anyone excusing him from posting for the rest of the day?
I note his last post was just after 9:30 a.m.
Do you suppose that mandatory survey has him holed up in his study?
-
Did DAW present a note to anyone excusing him from posting today?
Ummm...
DR elmore3003, did you see the McGlinn obit in the current issue of Opera News?
Also - have you considered wearing a surgical mask over at his apartment? It might help relieve some of the dust symptoms.
etc., etc., etc...
-
So... Now my mom wants to email some of the pictures she took in the Philippines to her friends in the Philippines... Of course, she's never attached any sort of file an email before... And then when I "reminded" her that some of the people she'll be sending the pictures/files to may not have high-speed connections... Then I thought that maybe I should set up a Picasa or Flickr account... But since she still needs to go the through the 600 pictures she took... Well...
I think I need some chamomile tea right now...
Or some scotch.
;)

If any DR was thinking of getting Seasons 1 and 2 on Blu-Ray, you may want to check out Amazon's Gold Box Deal of the Day today.
*This week's Gold Box selections are TV-themed.

OK... And now I'm going to get out of here before I get wrangled into yet another internet-related query...
*And it was - and still is - such a nice day here in Richmond: sunny, low 70s, breezy... Ahh...
Laters..

I am thinking maybe we could visit each other's desert island.
Good thinking!!!

I need to take a break from the computer, except for email, and get some work done around here. Maybe I'll take a month off & find out what I can accomplish. It is Spring when I seem to have the most energy.

David Duchovny can get away with wearing a speedo.
John Goodman probably could not.
Just my opinion, is all.

TOD:
PERRY MASON would be my choice, with 12 seasons and most of my favorite 1950s favorites popping up in various episodes, it would keep me happily entertained until I was rescued by the Coast Guard.
And then you would happily entertain the Coast Guard

Just got a gander at NBC's fall schedule. Sad to say, MEDIUM has been let go along with MY NAME IS EARL.
Many of their dramas are going to have mini-seasons. CHUCK and HEROES, for example, will only air 13 episodes during the season and then leave the air for other 13-week series to take over.
Which sounds like broadcast network television is following the lead of cable network television (which followed the lead from Brit television) - shorter seasons, which will cut down on expenses (I hope) and maybe result in better writing/directing/etc (I hope).
But I'm not holding my breath.
-
Do not like the Friday at 9pm slot for UGLY BETTY at all. I thought thursdays at 8pm was perfect!
-
I'm up, and am alarmed to find the birthday wishes for Francois, as I checked our birthday calendar when I was writing the notes and there was no birthday listed. So, how does everyone know? In any case, a very happy haineshisway.com birthday to Francois from faraway France.
Who is this Francois fellow? Should I know him?
Is the upcoming Disney animated feature film, The Princess and the Frog, about him, perhaps?
::)
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY,
DR François

re: MEDIUM.
I am really shocked that NBC is not renewing the show. What are they thinking?
Especially since Ausiello at EW has been right on top of all the renewals and he had written that the show was almost assuredly renewed for 13-16 more episodes.
but he also writes that CBS will most likely be picking up the show. And as DR RonP said pairing it on fridays with GHOST WHISPERER. I agree that this would be an amazing pairing.
Although i like having MEDIUM on mondays.

Just went over post 4,500 (will that get me my HHW Toaster?)
If you didn't get it by now it's probably lost in the mail ;)
Well, that explains everything -- and here I was, feeling like the HHW's step child, like chopped liver, like ... I won't mention the missing toaster to bk then -- knowing how those P.O. mishaps can upset him ...
Actually, hitting a 500 mark does not result in free toasters...or confetti...it just means you're halfway to the next 1,000 mark. Of course, given your recent posting record, it's a significant achievement! ;)
We may have to declare a holiday when you reach 5,000.
If any of us live that long!

TOD
Doctor Who.
duh
But I want the ENTIRE series.
That means all of the current stuff, including all the spinoffs and the Doctor Who Confidentials (and not the cut-down versions we get on the DVDs available here in the U S of A), and all of the original series, by which I mean ALL of the original series, including all of the lost episodes the idiots at the BBC erased from the Hartnell and Troughton years, because IF I CAN't HAVE THE ENTIRE SERIES, BY WHICH I MEAN THE ENTIRE SERIES, I AIN'T STEPPING ONE FOOT ON THAT GOL-DANG ISLAND, AM I MANKING MYSELF PEFECTLY CLEAR ? ? ? ? ?
Glad we got that settled.

Happiest of birthdays to DR Francois!
-
Thanks DR TCB.
-
Oh, the Paul McGann movie had better be included, too.
Just because.
And while we're at it, all the novelizations, and the original novels, and the CDs from Big Finish, and every comic ever printed...
The Whoniverse is ultimately bigger than the Trekverse. It just looks smaller from the outside.

Gee, I'd dance for this much!
Johnson's Dancing With The Stars Pay Revealed27 March 2009 2:37 AM, PDT | From Studio Briefing | See recent Studio Briefing news
Since Shawn Johnson, the Olympic gymnast who is now appearing on Dancing With the Stars, is a minor, her DWTS contract had to be filed in court, where the TMZ.com website was able to get hold of it. Disclosing details of the contract Thursday, TMZ said that it guarantees Shawn $125,000 for appearing on the show, then $10,000 a week for weeks 3 and 4. Her payment doubles to $20,000 a week for weeks 5, 6 and 7 -- if she remains on the show, then earns $30,000 a week for weeks 8 and 9. If she makes it to weeks 10 and 11, she'll be paid $50,000 a week.

You might ask him about configuring an HDTV out of a large cardboard box while you're at it.

Enough of me!

Back from travels, lunch at Genghis Cohen (finally satisfied the craving), and shipping out 1000 CDs, all of which are on their way to their various and sundried destinations. Whew!
-
finally home with a few hours to spare.
will try and read all the posts, starting with today.
see ya in a few.
how can anyone decide what to watch on a desert island. what kind of mood to go for ?
-
The Bond that looks terrible is Thunderball - I don't care how sharp it is the color is literally half gone and that, for me, renders it worthless in every way. Shame on them. If they could do such a splendid job on the others then they most certainly could have fixed the wretched brown color on Thunderball.
-
I'm watching Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. The transfer was done in 2001 or 2002 and while it looks good it could look much sharper and better with a fresh transfer. The ONLY transfer in the Star Trek series that's fresh and new is The Wrath Of Cohen.
-

Sam, many of us have have been through this TOD before, so it's a bit easier.

Happy Birthday Francois. 8) 8)

Thanks DR Jeanne. When we moved to New Jersey, our first move from California I waited to get my drivers license. I didn't feel up to doing it since it was the move from hell, and then I got pregnant, and then I knew we would be moving. Four months before we moved my current license expired & I had to study for the NJ exam. At least it prepared me for the Massachusetts test. Both seemed to be more difficult than the CA test, and asked a lot of questions regarding alcohol & driving. I felt there should be a box I could mark that said I never drink drive, N/A ;)
Now I always get my license early on.
-
Dear Ron Pulliam, can I live on your island.
-
Mary Tyler Moore because I'm from Minnesota.
If you were from St. Olaf, would you have chosen, "Golden Girls"?
Probably not. I hesitate to announce this publicly but I hold a different opinion than most people on the Golden Girls. I think that's all I need to say. I do love Bea Arthur and Betty White (in other shows) and Miss Estelle Getty was amazing in Torch Song Trilogy but, as with many other issues, I am clearly in the minority on this one.
I would partially agree. The 1st season was funny and fresh, but after that I could see the set up and punch line coming a mile away.
I was given season 1 as a Christmas gift and I hardly found a laugh in it.
-
The laundry is done so I'm turning off the computer for real this time.
LATERS.

And don't forget about the "lost stories" with Paul McGann, Sylverster McCoy, Colin Baker and I think Peter Davison that are produced as radio dramas.

Dear Jane and Cillaliz,
I lost the desire to clean about a year ago. I'm obsessively neat, but you can write in the dust. Vacuum/dust every other month is ok with me.

Dear Jeanne, with too many choices my mind just goes blank.

will now try to read yesterday's merriment

I'm pretty sure those are the Big Finish CDs (http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Big_Finish_Doctor_Who_Audio_Dramas).

PAGE EIGHT!

We start Page Eight with a post about Big Finish. Go figure.

Tomorrow starts too early. And it's a big week - Memorial Day looms.

Tonight I knocked down some weeds in the back yard with my shoe....wasn't sure, but thought it may be cat nip... When Boo started having some sort of love affair with my shoe, I knew it was. Now both girls are blissful....they have fresh catnip...I have a yard full of it so they will have lots to enjoy this summer

I didn't know that thirtysomething was coming out on DVD.

My arthritis is really bothering my hands tonight. We must have a storm coming. It is getting difficult to type.

G'night!

Dear Druxy, I'm so sorry about Cody. Hugs and Kisses.

Dear George,
Thanks for the Pilabolus pics.
They are just wonderful live, if you ever get a chance to see them - go.

I need to walk around for a few, will be back later to catch up on last weekend's post.
;D

Dear George,
Thanks for the Pilabolus pics.
They are just wonderful live, if you ever get a chance to see them - go.
I did for the first time, just a few months ago. They were incredible! ;D

Time for me to head out. I need to eat dinner then go to my sister's for a while. Then, home for TV watching.
Until later!

A Proposition 8 Quickie (about 90 seconds): a parody of the song "I'm Just Wild About Harry" (from the Broadway musical SHUFFLE ALONG)

CRY TOUGH with Mr John Saxon and sexy Ms Linda Cristal is on TCM tonight....in an hour or so.
-
Pretty funny, DR FJL.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Watching LA Confidential on Blu-Ray - not a great movie, but a very good one, and one whose plot machinations I like. Transfer is better than DVD but falls a little short of the best Blu-Rays that I've seen.
-
Thanks, Jrand - and for your comment on youtube, too! :)

Sam, many of us have have been through this TOD before, so it's a bit easier.
Yes, BK we have been getting a lot or TOD reruns over the last year or so. Perhaps the next TOD should be everyone makes a potential list of TODs for BK to use.
That should keeps us busy for the next few years or so.

CRY TOUGH with Mr John Saxon and sexy Ms Linda Cristal is on TCM tonight....in an hour or so.
Uh, oh. I hope I set my DVR to recored that!

In a statement, a CBS executive expressed astonishment at NBC's cancellation of MEDIUM correctly noting that it had higher ratings than many shows NBC is bringing back next season (including PARKS & RECREATION, 30 ROCK, SOUTHLAND, CHUCK, and it even outrated HEROES the last few weeks of its season.)
-

I only have seen (and reviewed) KHAN, SPOCK, and VOYAGE. KHAN was by far the best in picture quality, but it did get a complete restoration. The other two have had most of their grain removed and with it detail and a film-like quality that I found distracting (especially in VOYAGE). The last time I watched VOYAGE on DVD (admittedly, a couple of years ago), I remember it having a moderately grainy picture. That's ALL gone now.
-
I think L.A. CONFIDENTIAL is a great movie. It was certainly my favorite movie of its year, so I was disgusted when TITANIC raked up all the Oscars. Well, it did win Best Screenplay, but it deserved many others.
-
Many thanks, MBarnum!!!
-
DWS :D
-
I was surprised I didn't have that much more to watch of the MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN bonus features. The stuntman documentary was very interesting. It traced the various stunt guys back to the beginning and took them through the Pierce Brosnan era. Really good stuff, and it's in HD, too.
-
Good Evening!
Steve and I had dinner at Legend Brewing Co. (http://www.legendbrewing.com/). It's just a short two-block walk from his condo, so we thought we would hop over there for a quick bite to eat. Well...
Since it was such a nice day/dusk/night, we decided to sit outside on their patio. Of course, "patio" = "smoking section" here in Richmond, but we were able to position ourselves so as not to have puffs of cigarette smoke wafting by our table every other second. -I'm not against smokers and smoking, but I always find it interesting when smokers choose to position themselves so that their own cigarette smoke doesn't get in their way. In any case...
Dinner was OK. The kitchen was slow, as was our waitress. But at least we made it back to his apartment to catch the rest of tonight's "AI" - and we only missed Adam's first song.
-
As for tonight's "AI", well.... Well... Well... Well...
If the results were based solely on tonight's performances, well... No contest.
-
Next, I watched TEA FOR TWO from the Doris Day box. It looked better than I was expecting. Gene Nelson should have been a much bigger star. If he had been at MGM, I'm thinking he might have had some movies built around his great dancing abilities, though, of course, they did have Kelly and Astaire already.
At least they did let him use his own singing voice in this film unlike some of his other Warner musicals.
-
Page Nine Dance!!!
-
Then we watched "Glee"...
:)
So how many months do we have to wait until the series starts up in the fall?
*And it was nice to see that Matthew Morrison's chest hair grew back in so fast after he left South Pacific. ::)
-
*I also really liked the underscoring during "Glee". Debussy's "Golliwog's Cakewalk" always makes me smile.
-
NCIS had a kind of disappointing season finale. Just a continuation of Tony's killing of the Mussad agent and a silly cliffhanger with Ziva at the end. Bah!
-
And then I just happened to make it home in time to see who won "DWTS". And I'd have to say that it was sort of a shocker, imho.
-

Well, it'll likely start in early September so you do the math!
-
And then I just happened to make it home in time to see who won "DWTS". And I'd have to say that it was sort of a shocker, imho.
It was a shocker but based on the last 2 nights, I was happy.
-
On the other hand, I thoroughly enjoyed the season finale of THE MENTALIST even though I caught the give away clue to the identity of one of the perps and was way ahead of the game there. Still very effective episode to close out the season.
-
Tonight's LAW AND ORDER: SVU turned out to be a powerhouse - I guessed the ending early, but it hardly mattered.
-
And I ended my evening watching the finals of AMERICAN IDOL. No question that Adam is the better performer even with that unfortunate song both he and Kris had to sing at the end of the show.
I could easily see Kris winning, however. He's got that same kind of homespun appeal that brought the title to Taylor Hicks (though Katherine McPhee wasn't much competition.) Ah, well, at least the season is over.
-
I did record GLEE and will watch it at some point over the next few days. I'm looking forward to it.
-
I was also glad Adam repeated "Mad World" so I could get a recording of it. I have all of the performances from "Tracks of My Tears" onward. but I didn't have that one from the week the show ran way over. I had only heard and seen it on the internet, and having it in HD and stereo surround sound was SO much more enjoyable.
-
Dear FJL, Miss California can bite me.
-
Well, I have some computer stuff to take care of and then I think I'll head downstairs to bed. Another busy day or reviewing tomorrow, so I need some sleep.
Good night!
-
off to read last Sunday's posts
-
DR Sam - :)

from Sunday
I've felt so many earthquakes since 1965 (when I moved to LA) that they don't bother me anymore. The trick is to live in buildings that survived. Also, after having the TV fall on me while sleeping through one in the 1980's, what else is there to worry about.

And, apparently, there was another one tonight. I think. -At least according to some posts on Facebook and Twitter.
-
I'm only up to SEARCH FOR SPOCK in my review chore, but I noticed quite a bit of DNR on the first film, something that normally doesn't bother me as much as it does others. But it was quite noticeable--Botox smoothness everywhere. :)
-
Well, I'm going to try to get to bed at a semi-decent hour tonight - well, at least get into bed... So...
Goodnight.
-
Good night, Jose
-
going back to Saturday and see what I missed.
-
from Saturday
Dear DAW, What else could one wish for :) :)
-
I'm all caught up.
Now time to say goodnight.
Pleasant Wednesday.
Till tomarrow evening.

I'm exhausted - I gotta tell you, shipping out 1000 CDs is exhausting, hence my exhaustion. I'm through viewing and shall shortly write some sort of exhausted notes.
