Well, you've read the notes, the notes had time and also parsley, sage and rosemary, and now it is time (and parsley, sage and rosemary) to post until the cows come home - they're currently befuddled as to why the Time People keep moving Daylight Saving Time earlier and earlier. The Befuddled Cows - that's the title of my next novel.

Good night, Laura and guests. :)

good morning everyone, I know is 1:30AM, but I just woke up. Was so tired from work I had to take a really long nap. It took only 30 minutes to read yesterday and today's notes plus all the postings, I'm happy I caught up.

Dear Vixmom, my dad just went through the swallowing test after his open heart surgery, except he did nothing the doctors told him to. He was too stubborn. They kept him in the hospital till he could pass, almost 4 weeks later (but he's 82 and really really really stubborn). I'm glad everything worked out for you.
-
Yes I heard it was Barbie's Birthday. When my kid was maybe 5 or 6, her grandmother wanted to throw a birthday party and invite all the relatives on that side of the family. Our (my husband and myself) only request was that there would be no Barbies. So of course she ended up with maybe 20 or 25, all of which either became beheaded, drawn on to look like I don't know what, or no hair, teeth marks, missing limbs, etc etc etc. And were always naked, with hair that could never be fixed.
-
I finally discovered preview, maybe this will help my errors.

I live in California and have zero friends that voted yes on prop. 8. We're all from the 60's , we remember how horrible it was for us growing up . We all knew even in those days who was gay, but it was never talked about except in private where no one could over hear you. Why go back to that.
-
For BK's notes. I found in the cd shelves, Cinderella, Peter Pan, Prime Time Musicals, and Unsung Irving Berlin, to listen to this weekend. Word of the day, CLOU from yesterday is not in my dictionary.
Brougham, I think my car collector friend might have a Morgan in his garage, it that close ?

Today is Saturday, a work day. Tomorrow is Sunday, a day that is only 24 hours long.

On Tuesday, the State of indiana goes to trial in its case to avoid paying many of us money for hours worked many years ago. Regular state employees worked 37.5 hours per week, but those of us in institutions worked 40 hours per week at the same salary.
An earlier judgment found for the employees, but the state refused to abide by the judgment and a trial has been set.
Time will tell.

The third and final day of SETC 2009 is upon me. I'm gonna go ahead and get a head start on repacking my luggage now just to make things easier for me later. I hope.
In any case, I have another 270 or so auditions to sit through today, so...

I agree with DR FJL. The end was heartbreaking and moving. And very sad. But i
suppose jim/sam's reaction wasn't that far from what i expected. But very sad for
melinda to say she's done. I think after reading DR mattH's take on things that
i disagree. It never occured to me during the show that the doctor could have been
in jim/sam's head. And i really don't think he was. Sam's reaction made sense for
him. He still said he wanted to be with melinda. I think it will just take more time.
The doctor was in the street, to show us that we have not seen the last of him.
But to me i don't think he approached sam yet. Just my take on things. Plus so far
we've only seen the doctor capable of talking to a) the ghost patients and b) kids
who apparently have an easier connection with ghosts. He never tried to talk in
the ear of the teachers, melinda or anyone else. fdkj dfakj boo hoo boo moo loo

Good morning, all! Today is like yesterday: morning with BABES, afternoon with Loesser. I've been involved the last hour with the London Times obituary for John McGlinn; the mythology has begun and I think McGLinn would have been amused that some of his lies and sef-aggrandizing have now become fact in his legend. Some ass keeps going into the wikipedia page on him and adding incorrect info that I delete, but I fear I am becoming McGlinn Central

I will be busy with more JAG episodes today. I'm sorry that Paramount didn't sent Season 7 several months ago when it was requested (December as I recall) as I missed the season where Harm and Mac break up with their respective fiances. Looks like they're going to spend much of this season flirting even more openly with each other.

Here's a nice going away gift:
I just licensed a minimum 3-performance run of TRACY, my 1-person play about Spencer Tracy.
It's going to be performed at the Athens Theatre in New Bern, NC, May 29-31.
Paul White, who really looks the part, will play the role, and if it does well he may "take it on the road".
The play was last performed during the 1980s in Los Angeles.
My wife and I have been invited to attend the opening, but since we may/may not be settled in our new Austin home by then, that decision is currently "on hold".
-
During TCM's Oscar month tribute, I happened on THE THREE FACES OF EVE one day, and I was reminded that I've had that DVD forever and never watched it. I wish I could find some time to watch that movie. I haven't seen the whole thing in decades, and when I saw it, it was pan and scanned for a TV broadcast.

When the version of Our Town with Paul Newman playing the Stage Manager aired on PBS, I was impressed. I know, there were wags at the time who said it was just a star turn on the boards, that Hollywood people should stay away from the theater, but I enjoyed what he did (and the rest of the company, as well).
And he didn't make the mistake of interpolating "Love and Marriage." I can't think of a single film that was improved by Paul Newman's singing prowess.

Dear Jose, thank you , it worked.

Dear Laura, I grew up in Coolidge, Arizona. From I think 8 to 12 years old. Remember that playing involved being outside next to irrigation canals, horny toads, cotton fields, lizards, snakes, and learning to shoot beer cans. Being a kid was fun. I did not live with either of my parents.

It is such a glorious day here. I enjoyed sitting on the porch while my lunch cooked. Just beautiful.

Did listen to Cinderella and Peter Pan. Both just wonderful for Saturday morning. Next is the new U2 cd I just picked up. Also watched "Total Recall" with Arnold Schwarzenegger, science fiction movies make me happy. JPL has an open house every May or June, always go when I can, before 911 almost the whole facility was open to the public, now only some buildings will be open, but it is still worth going.
-
While I ate lunch, I watched last night's FLASHPOINT. The hostage plot was engrossing and I liked that. The macho posturing at the first part of the show ("You actually WENT to THE LION KING?" "I must go get my purse, ladies") is tiresome and forced, but the cast is solid, so I'll continue watching unless they pull more of that stuff.

I watched two more episodes of JAG. The first revealed the pregnancy of Lt. Singer (who was in real life star David James Elliott's wife; sorry, but she HAD to use influence to get on a network show. She is a TERRIBLE actress.). The investigation part of the show was quite good.

The second was a murder mystery with a sailor killing prostitutes in Milan. Some good detective work. I'll start on disc three when I go back downstairs.

Barbie's birthday party was weird. Not very well organized.
We were next door and went over at 11am (it was supposed to start at 11am). There was a booth with 2 girls, but no cake and no balloons. She said they would be there in 10 minutes.
They did give out loot bags which were much more than i expected. They had Barbie tshirts, stickers, posters, bracelets, pins and something else.
The cake came at 11:15am but they would not give it to the adults. And no balloons. And they were not handing out loot bags very well. A lot of people had to ask for them! And some did not even know about them.
At 11:30am as we were leaving the store the balloons came. Very cheap white ones with an outline of barbie. They were helium. But guess what? After telling people we were waiting for them to blow up the balloons they decided those balloons were for the table display. And they wanted to just hand them out for you to blow up yourself??!!
They took pictures of megan for the toysrun website (they said). She was the first person to eat the cake at the store! :)

I believe out of the 800 actors who auditioned over the past three days, about 725 of them sang. Whew!!!
But, again, today was a good day. The stress and anxiety levels were low to non-existent, and our last group of the day was one of our stronger, better groups. It's always nice to end on an up note. In this case, I believe it was an A-flat. ;)

Dear Jane, Their are tons of people walking their dogs all day and night in this neighborhood. I'm not afraid unless the owner looks like they do not train their dog. So now I think I am really more afraid of the human not in control, than the actual dog.
Then you have good reason to be afraid. I too am cautious. I think a dog is more likely to be attacked by an out of control dog than a human. I can't count how often people say their dogs love other dogs only to have their dog go after Sherlock. He fortunately is a total sweetheart & doesn't fight back. What really amazes me are the people who let their little dogs run right up to our big dog without asking if it is ok.

My work here is done.
-
G'night!
Because I can!
-
Lovely avatar DR Sam.
That reminds me I forgot to comment on DR Laura's beautiful photos. I especially like the butterfly in the spring blossoms.
-
Aaaaahhh... Burger, fries and a beer. :)
-
I gotta tell you.
-
We haven't had a six-page day in over three years.
-
It was a lovely day for a walk, and there were many butterflies about. I had to wait my turn for the red admiral in the tree, but I got a pretty good shot. Several lizards starting to be active, too.
I was going to say the lizards were starting to come out but I thought better of it.
-
It's been very quiet here on the home front. I had some phone calls this afternoon, but the telephone has not rung once tonight. Of course, I'm not complaining. I got a lot done.
-
Goodness, it is a slow day around here.
-
I watched seven more episodes of JAG tonight. This makes a total of nine watched today. With the eight yesterday, that leaves seven more to watch tomorrow. There is also a gag reel on the last disc in the set, but I don't expect that it will last very long. So I should be able to finish up with JAG tomorrow night on schedule.
-
We went out to dinner with friends at Red Robin (burger place, for those who have not heard of it) I had a bruschetta chicken burger, one of my favorites. Jed had a guacamole burger. Toby had a jar of baby food carrots. Now he's sacked out asleep in his car seat, and I haven't the heart to wake him.
-
Football and hockey
I've seen them all and my dear
I'm still queer
Rooted for Rocky
Clutching a burger and beer
But I'm queer
I've let my eyebrows
Go unchecked
Laughed when the highbrows
Lauded Brecht
Missed Lincoln Center's King Lear
But I'm queer
I like Seth Rogen
And I mean just as a friend
But I知 queer
I sat through Shogun
Stood up and cheered at the end
But I知 queer
I went to Tommy
Loved the rhymes
I took my Mommy
Twenty times
Then I walked out on Steel Pier
But I知 quee-eer
Lord knows, I loved Martin Guerre
But I知 queer
Look who痴 queer
I知 still queer
(once again, a post by Jose inspires :) )

I forget how many posts it takes to fill a page
-
Oh, welcome to new DR Sam
-
As usual, they did an episode that had nothing to do with a military trial where the entire cast plays different characters in a scenario set at some previous time. This time it was in the Pacific in 1945 with the cast playing various parts on a ship under Japanese attack. The women were all nurses on the boat, and the men played everything from doctors to patients to orderlies, to priests.
I know the actors must have looked forward to this kind of episode each year that allowed them to play something other than their usual roles, but when the show has nothing to do with the JAG Corps, I get kind of irritated with those episodes.
-
Another unusual episode that had nothing to do with a military trial involved the JAG commander being lost in George Washington National Forest fighting off wolves and the freezing cold. He even pitched his camp on a frozen pond, and when the ice gave way, he fell in. Stolen right out of "To Build a Fire."
-
Tomorrow I'll get to see the next episode of DAMAGES on HD which should be entertaining. I really enjoyed getting to see my first-eer episode of it in HD last week.
-
It's all quiet around this home front, too. I just don't seem to have the patience for a motion picture this evening. Hence, I'm playing on the computer whilst listening to some CDs.
-
Well, I must head downstairs now and "spring ahead" in preparation of DST beginning tomorrow.
Good night!
-
Mother of mercy, is this the end of Rico?
-
We really must get some postin' goin' on.
-
I must say the errant and truant shall be locked in their various and sundried rooms and shall not be allowed to play with us.
-
I'm listening to an odd but entertaining soundtrack by Michel Colombier.
-
So, let me get this straight - I may as well shut the jernt down at eight now? Have I got that right? Because there really hasn't been anyone here for the last hour and somehow I don't think that will be changing until midnight.
-
Interesting Frank Rich article on why Wilder's play OUR TOWN is so relevant once again
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/08/opinion/08rich.html
-
He calls OUR TOWN shattering - do you think he meant splattering?
(a cooking reference)
-
We must get to page 7
-
by hook or by cook
-
are we there yet?
-
How about now?
-
Now? As the sweet imbecilities tumble so lavishly onto her lap?
-
I thought we'd never get there.
-
Will we never get to page eight?
-
I'm just sitting here like so much stuffed fish. I went to Hugo's around three and had Pasta Papa - very filling.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Once upon a time...
-
. . the world was sweeter than we knew.
-
I almost forgot I'm doing Nudie Musical vocals tomorrow.
-
And I must remember that we lose an hour.
-
What am I, doing a monologue?
-
I'm kind of tired. I think tomorrow's notes will be short and sweet and also sweet and short, then really long ones for Monday.
-
I wonder if Apple Care is working on Sundays. I have a question I need to pose.
-
I already lost my hour; I came in from work about fifteen minutes ago, or so, and promptly set all clocks ahead.
-
I set most of mine, but I always miss one or two and wonder why I have so many clocks.
Anyway, I'm off to sleep.
-
I only have to manually set the microwave clock and the oven clock - all others should be automatic - I think the computer does it automatically, yes? Or do I have to set that up in preferences?
-
People are just sitting there like so much fish. Listening to The Concert Mancini - wonderful CD from Spain.
-
BK-
The sad part of sequencing a CD Is that in the old days of LP's You could sequence and have the listener hear what was intended. Today you can easily skip around tracks and also shuffle off to Buffalo on your i-pods.
Maybe in regular singers LPS
But when it came to cast albums things were different.
I believe I read this about Goddard Lieberson the dean of cast album recordings. A lot of time songs are placed out of order because he had time constraints per side. So he tried to fit as many songs as he could in show order per side.
One exception was Camelot.
He moved the instumental Parade because he did not want to have two instrumental tracks following one another. (The overture was first)
He had Julie Andrews cuts practically on ever second track. This of course was not in the correct show order. But due to the popularity of Andrews.
There are other cases as well. But this comes to mind first.
-
Why don't you fix your fershluganah avatar, Shayne?
-
I should have watched a movie, I guess, but sometimes I'm just not in the mood - the mood must strike me, although I certainly have never struck the mood. Damn them, damn them all to hell.
-
If we don't get to page eight I shall eat some worms.
-
BK I don't believe this was answer as of yet.

Back from picking up the Illya Darling tapes. In addition to the album masters (stereo and mono) I've got all the session tapes, too, but unless something is drastically wrong with the album masters, I'm not going to do anything with the session masters, other than perhaps look for anything that wasn't used on the album - however, I'd have to mix those tracks, which is VERY costly, especially since the format on these is four-track and who knows if anyone has that type of machine.
Would any of the session tapes have the song that Sondheim provided the lyrics for? It's not on the album
-
Why don't you fix your fershluganah avatar, Shayne?
Actually that is not a bad idea.
I have some new photos taken a month or so ago.
-
Sorry, I forgot to answer. The song that Mr. Sondheim provided the lyrics for was never used in the show, so no, it wasn't recorded. I'm waiting for a Playbill from the show to see if a couple of things listed on the session tape boxes were from the show, or if they're just some shorthand for what's already on the album. I did write to Mr. Sondheim this very day about the song he did the lyrics for, and he said he'd look in his files to see if he had it. If he does, I'll probably take someone in the studio and record it - IF I'm allowed to do so by the licensor.
-
I'll tell you one thing...
-
I will single-handedly take us to page eight.

My source says that the cast album has everything except 1, 10, 14, 18 and it says taht the cut songs 19-22 are also on it but that doesn't sound right
There is an instrumental album release on United Artists. (Same as cast album) Conducted by Ralph Burns

There is a second Instrumental recording of the score of the EPIC Label

-
Have we sprung ahead an hour yet?
-
Almost page 8
-
It'll be here sooner than you think
-
I have been trying to upload a larger version of the new avatar but it is still coming out small. Any suggestions people?
-
VOILA PAGE 8!!!
-
Interesting - there is a Po Po Po track on the session tapes - I'll probably send that up to my guy IF he has a four-track machine that can play the tape. That may ultimately be the problem - finding a four-track machine may prove just too difficult.
-
Listening to The Americanization of Emily by Johnny Mandel - I simply cannot get enough of this score.
-
Can we get to page nine before the new notes, which are already written.
-
I'm pretty tired right now and have to get up early tomorrow.
-
Did you get any of the instrumental tracks from the other album?
-
VOILA PAGE 8!!!
Shucks - I wanted to see bk go to Gelson's for worms!

Film Score Monthly - a great Mandel album of Emily, The Sandpiper, and Drums Over Africa.
-
WELCOME TO THE ONE GUEST LOOKING US OVER
-
We couldn't get any of the instrumental tracks without paying an entire other licensing fee for that whole album - and the whole album wouldn't fit as Illya is already fifty minutes.
-
Shayne finally has an avatar.

But I want to make it bigger but having difficulty

Someone can tell you how to make it bigger. Okay, keep your minds out of the gutter.

Would these have recorded at the same session as the cast album?

Perhaps Pogue will post whilst doing the Polka. I think I owe Pogue a big package o' stuff. I must send that out on Monday.
-
I have been trying to upload a larger version of the new avatar but it is still coming out small. Any suggestions people?
Not that will work in this dimension - the new board only allows "tiny" pics.

(The large ones you see were ones downloaded to the old board)

No. Whole separate thing.

I just don't believe that new avatars cannot be larger - perhaps Jose knows how.
-
If not, we'll blame Jose.

The time change is soon upon.
I want to watch my computer clock change by itself.
(I don't really have a life)

Were Jay Robinson and Joseph Wiseman the hammiest, most over the top film actors of all-time? They made Frank Thring look like Olivier. Dansssse Salome.
-
My head is so big compared to Shayne's who looks like a pinhead. :)
-
That's what we need more of - pinhead references.
-
I feel confident that we'll get to page nine.

By the skin of our teeth.

And whatever happened to Rina Mark?

She played Sabina in my high school production of Skin Of Our Teeth. She was perky.

At long last page nine.

Anyone for page ten?

I went to school with one of Joseph Wiseman's grandchildren (grades 1-6)

Pogue left without posting OR doing the Polka, and his Package shall not be going out on Monday.

Not that I'm vindictive.

Well I did my bit to get to page 9

3 minutes to go

But there MUST be a way. If the old ones are big, I just don't get why the newer ones couldn't be big. What if you went to the old board and uploaded there?

The old ones were automatically imported from the old program to this one; the old program's ability to resize avatars was not included in this one - this program automatically sizes all imported pics to the tiny size. Of course there is a way - pay Mr SMF to modify his software!

Maybe when I do the upgrade, which I'm petrified to do by myself - Bakalor refuses to do it. It seems simple, but I would not be comfortable doing it on my own - perhaps I'll drop them a note and see if they'll talk me through it on the phone or maybe it's a setting that I change.
-
Heaven forbid anyone should actually help getting to page ten.

I'll do it by myself then.

What care I for tinsel and glamour?

I'm thinking soon...
