MBarnum I hope you stay warm tonight.  Is it still raining there?

I know if you had a gas heater the gas company would rush out to check it.  Did you call the oil company, or even better the fire department?

I called a couple of companies but they all closed at 5pm. Maybe I should call the emergency number.

I think that would be a good idea.  Please do so.

Keith is playing a new computer game and it sounds as if someone is either being tortured or has a bowel problem.

When my 5:30 a.m. alarm went off today, I got up.

Usually, I turn it off and wait for the 6:30 a.m. alarm to go off.

I made some oatmeal and did a bit of online surfing.

It was a leisurely morning.  I was at work at 7:30 a.m.

It's rather nice to get here early...to avoid the traffic...to get a good parking space in the parking garage down the street...and to be the only one in line when ordering a cup of coffee.

If you were the only one ordering, why did you have to get in line?

Just watched my Roger Corman Puerto Rico Trio DVD.  The best thing about the films are the commentaries - THE LAST WOMAN ON EARTH has Betsy Jones-Moreland and Antony Carbone who star in the film.  Roger Corman introduces the film and says in passing that he first thought that he would use lovely Allison Hayes in the title role, but after seeing Betsy in a play in Hollywood offered her the role.  He is forgetting, I guess, that Betsy had had a role in his film THE VIKING WOMEN AND THE SEA SERPENT the year before.

Trailers for 11 Corman films + the trailers for the films on the DVD, the scenes filmed a couple of years later so that Allied Artists could peddle the films to tv, and a gallery of lobby cards is also included.

If you're interested in Corman, it's a deal!  LAST WOMAN ON EARTH is in color and all the films are in widescreen.

Birgit Nilsson, one of the mainstays of the opera world from the late 40s through the early 80s has died. Here are two short obits.

Birgit

Nilsson

What a shame!  Wasn't she married to Slyvester Stalone at one time?

At first I didn’t get it, then thought it was a joke, and then had second thoughts as the statement followed “What a shame”. :-\

I am back. I called the emergency number. He said that flames coming out of the floor was not a good thing. I agreed. I will have someone come out tomorrow and look at it and tell me what I don't want to hear...that I need a new oil furnace  :P

In the meantime I am most grateful that:

A. the flames decided to shoot out while I was at home.

B. that it isn't terrible cold. It has been in the 40s or so this week so an extra blanket should do the trick.

And speaking of carbon monoxide....I have one of those carbon monoxide alarms so that I won't get poisoned.

I even checked it after the furnace went wacky.

It turned out that all this time I didn't even have any batteries in the alarm.

I am a dope.
