Well, you've read the notes, the notes were tony, and now it is time for you to post until the tony cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: DIVULSE!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
John C: Sorry Rome was so packed with people that you couldn't get to the Coliseum or the Vatican. It's always best to avoid being there at weekends and I find major attractions tend to be less crowded in the afternoons - all the tour groups seem to visit early morning when it's very busy. When I first went to Rome in 1975 I found a massive queue for the Vatican and it took hours to get in. Last time I went in July in 2008 there was no queue at all during mid-week, late afternoon - walked straight in.
-
Good morning!
-
Good morning, all! I've been tied up snce 7 with a long email, and I am now ready to head down to Toyland and finish up these orchestra parts. Tomorrow and Tuesday I am tied up with the final mix of EILEEN, so this is my lasy chance t have everything on DEAREST ENEMY off my back. I'd like to cart them to Fed Ex on Wednesday and ship them off.
I have nothing else to report, but I will check in from Toyland.
-
Good morning.
-
SUnday sweet Sunday.....with nothing to do.....
Very nice....and tonight is TONY NIGHT and the season finale of MAD MEN.
-
Well after all the talk here on HHW - and all of the buzz about the title.....I decided I would watch a very famous HHW movie discussed here at length....
Yes last night I watched.....
LURE OF THE SWAMP.
-
There was a lot of swamp in the first 10 minutes.....but I watched only about 30 minutes of it, and there wasn't much lure.
Marshall Thompson had a very annoying girl friend - he slapped her and she pulled a rifle out on him and fired at the trees.....then some blonde girl from the big city needed Marshall to take her to the swamp so she could take photos for her national publication magazine....and she kept hanging around, too.
And then there were the bank robbers and the missing $290,000. Willard Parker got his picture in the local paper after he got his neck slashed.....and he had been the first person to make Marshall take him into the swamp....and Willard had a suitcase....and made Marshall stay behind while he hid something. HOWEVER because Willard Parker is billed so high in the movie, I can't believe he is really dead.....so he probably comes back toward the end of the movie....if I ever decide to watch the rest of it.
Marshall did a scene like they usually do for lady actresses.....where he went out on the dock and the camera panned down to his feet and then he took off his clothes and dived into the swamp......where he said there were gators, but I didn't see any in the first 30 minutes.
So - LURE OF THE SWAMP may be a classic of its kind....but I will have to see the rest of it before I say anything else......oh....and most everyone has a southern accent of one kind or another.
-
Good morning, world. Stayed up to all hours, and then some, reading. Turned in just as the first cows could be heard making their way home.
COFFEE!
-
Greetings from Toyland! Mozart's "Litanies" is my Sunday morning listening. I hope to be out of here by noon.
-
Good morning to all
-
BK
How different are the Mancini soundtrack recordings and his re-recordings?
-
And the word of the day is: DIVULSE!
And The Song Of The Day Is: GOOD-BYE
-
So, BK, I just so happen to know a drag performer. If I suggest your song to him, do you require payment of some kind? How does he get the music? He does his own singing. (Or should that be she?)
-
I was wrong...Willard Parker never came back.....BUT the last 10 minutes of LURE OF THE SWAMP made up for the 55 minutes that went before....there was a fine ending.....but still no gators.
-
I have willingly read the spoilers, and look forward to a showing of LURE OF THE SWAMP when my copy arrives. Must decide on a good suitable second feature.
-
I was wrong...Willard Parker never came back.....BUT the last 10 minutes of LURE OF THE SWAMP made up for the 55 minutes that went before....there was a fine ending.....but still no gators.
So what exactly WAS the lure of the swamp?
-
Sunday morning greetings! No trip to Lima for me today, because I spent most of the night feeling slightly nauseous. Don't know if I ate something "off" or what, but it's a little better now.
-
I did indeed finish before noon. Everything is ready to ship, and I guess I'll head for home.
-
Don't forget to download your printable Tony Awards ballot (http://cloud.playbill.com/pdf/TonyBallot2012.pdf)!

So what exactly WAS the lure of the swamp?
You will have to learn that for yourself......you and DR CHAS SMITH
-
And I am home. It's time to write liner notes.
-
I'm up - I got exactly eight hours of sleep.
-
Shayne, the original tracks contain the actual score cues - for his albums Mancini rearranged the music for a more "pop" listening experience. That said, the original tracks contain a lot of the easy listening sound - he used those cues for his albums, but because the label that put these out adheres to the film sequence, a lot of those are in a row - it's okay for Charade, sort of, but not for Hatari.
-
Laura, there's no fee for doing the song - the other two used the recording - there's no real way to get the music unless I send it, which I'm happy to do.
-
Hot today in the DC area--around 90, but only in the low 80's during the week.
-
Thanks, BK. He sometimes asks for suggestions for new songs. I'll suggest that one to him. Or her.
-
Don't forget to download your printable Tony Awards ballot (http://cloud.playbill.com/pdf/TonyBallot2012.pdf)!
Thanks Ginny
-
This morning I got up and did the yard work before it gets ungodly hot again. It's been in the 90s and humid the past few days. Hoping for the rain they have predicted to break this hot spell

From Tonyawards.com. If you're on the west coast you can watch with everyone else live on the internets
I live on the West Coast. What is the schedule for Tony Night?
The June 10 Tony telecast will be recorded for prime-time broadcast on the West Coast at 8:00 p.m. PT on CBS. However, for the benefit of those fans across the globe who do not have access to the broadcast, our website coverage of the Tony Awards is live. We will post the winners' names as they are announced, beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT. So if you prefer to remain in suspense until you watch the telecast, we suggest that you log on for our live Tony red carpet and pre-show coverage beginning at 6:00 p.m. ET/3:00 p.m. PT. Then close your browser and come back after the telecast is over, at which point you can watch video clips of backstage interviews with the winners and presenters.

Hmmm, maybe they are just posting the winners, that isnt' really clear

CRANBERRIES!!! (had some in a muffin a while ago)
-
Well, I have lots of little chores to do today and I need to figure out what I'm going to do for lunch, so better go for now
-
I don't understand why we have to see a number from THE BOOK OF MORMON on tonight's broadcast. Have we ever had last year's winner back for an encore before?
-
Sunday morning greetings! No trip to Lima for me today, because I spent most of the night feeling slightly nauseous. Don't know if I ate something "off" or what, but it's a little better now.
It was probably eating someone else's deviled eggs.
-
When it comes to deviled eggs, there's no stopping me.
Egg sliders, man.
-
Hot today in the DC area--around 90, but only in the low 80's during the week.
I don't think we even made it to 60 degrees yesterday. Last I heard the high was only 58. I have my doubts about the mid-60s for today. And 70 tomorrow?
-
Will we have to keep the winners' names a secret during the East Coast showing?
-
Love the picture DR DRUXY!!!
-
DR CILLA LIZ thanks for the Tony Party Link.....and thanks to DR GINNY for the ballot link.
Now I am all set for tonight!

Hmm, perhaps I need to fry a couple of eggs while it is still morning on the Left Coast.
-
Okay, I've watched the How to Host a Tony Party video three times. I think I've about got it.
Bring it on!

My fridge/freezer is due to be repaired tomorrow - at last!
Then you will not have any excuse for going out to eat.
-
Will we have to keep the winners' names a secret during the East Coast showing?
I guess BK will let us know if we are supposed to just discuss the show without naming the winners. It's too bad that everyone can't watch it together and post about it together.
-
I am very much looking forward to watching the Tonys.
-
It is super hot here today. Too hot for a bike ride.
I was reading outside. But finished my book. I need to decide whether to start my next book right now or wait till later.

I've spent the day scanning loads of over 100 year old family photographs for relatives. A tedious job but at last I've finished.
Here's two of them:

Villisca Axe murders (http://www.omaha.com/article/20120610/NEWS01/120609881/1007)
Today is the 100th anniversary of the Villisca Axe murders. A gruesome crime that was never really solved, split a small Iowa town and remains one of Iowa's big mysteries.

Cool photos!

CRANBERRIES!!! (had some in a muffin a while ago)
We had blueberries this morning in buttermilk pancakes.
-
My fridge/freezer is due to be repaired tomorrow - at last!
Wow, that took a long time!
-
DR Doug do you have a typical, small, English refrigerator?
-
DR Ginny I hope you are feeling better.
-
I hope DR John G is comfortable, wherever he is.
-
Nice pics DR Doug R.
-
Yes, nice pics, and a reminder that I should be doing tons and tons of scanning.
-
DR Doug do you have a typical, small, English refrigerator?
I'm sure it would be considered small - if no tiny - on your side of the pond :)
-
My fridge/freezer is due to be repaired tomorrow - at last!
Wow, that took a long time!
Yes, I've written to complain. It's ridiculous to take nearly 3 weeks to get it fixed.
-
It sure is!
-
Hello, everyone.
Feel-better vibes to DR Ginny!

It's still raining and it's going to carry on raining all week.
But what about the HHW Tony Party? I hope you can still attend.
-
Interesting photos, Doug.
Fridge/freezer vibes, too.
-
There are many things I miss about the East Coast, but the hot summers are not one of them. It has been very comfortable here in my 'hood.
-
As you can see, I have no news.
TTFN. WBBL for the partay.
-
Carry on Raining - wasn't Frankie Howerd in that movie?
-
DR DOUG R most excellent photographs.
DR JEANNE - in order to make your screenplay better - add gators!
-
Thanks for the vibes, DRs Jane and Jeanne. I am feeling better, but not setting the world on fire today. Watched the first 3 episodes of HBO's Mildred Pierce.
-
This morning Keith surprised me by asking if I wanted to go for a hike at on our regular trails. Of course I said said. We went for a long one by Keith's standards. I got a bit emotional in the beginning but boy did it feel good to be there.
Except for the day we said goodbye to Sherlock I don't think Keith has ever gone without a dog. For me the trails aren't just my hike with Sherlock or Echo, it is also my place.

It really is good you stayed home. Vibes by tomorrow you are back to setting the world on fire.

I have been lazing around the afternoon. I worked on the liner notes for a couple of hours and then vegged out. Still am.
DR Ginny, how do you like MOLDRED PIERCE?
-

DR Ginny, how do you like MOLDRED PIERCE?
DR Elmore, I have not read the book nor seen the Joan Crawford movie, so it's all new to me. The story has sucked me in and now I'm wondering when parts 4-6 will arrive from Netflix.
-
Feeling better vibes for DR GINNY.
DR JANE - I liked your hiking story.....very nice.
-
Thanks, DR JRand!
-
Here's the running order for tonight's Tony Award pre-show and live broadcast (http://broadwayworld.com/article/Spoilers-Inside-Tonights-Tony-Awards-Rundown-20120610#)
-
I love MILDRED PIERCE. All of them. Somehow or other I grew up having never seen the Crawford film. When I heard what HBO was coming out with, I read the novel and thoroughly loved it. Then I watched the Crawford, which has some of the elements of the story, but is really its own fabulous fast-talking-noir-ish thing. Which is fine. But the Todd Haynes mini-series really floated my boat, and I've since bought the Blu-ray.

Thank you.

Every now and then DR Laura surprises us with one of these little zingers.
Ditto.
-
I'm watching a few minutes of the Tonys red carpet. Ron Raines is one of the people being interviewed. But unfortunately my computer makes a slight ticking noise when the speaker is on. And it drives me slightly crazy. So can't watch too long. :(
-
Yes I am watching Red Carpet as well.
-
Bernadette Peters looks so skinny....
-
I think I will start marking my ballot.
-
So, the show starts at five east coast time. I'll leave it to others here, but I certainly don't mind knowing the winners in advance - I don't have any real interest, frankly.
-
Don't even know if I'll watch the Tonys tonight...only care about two plays ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS and CLYBOURNE PARK...the rest is just a wash for me. Looks like the next FOOD NETWORK STAR for me.
-
Took the photo, then Grant and his daughter Greer and I went to The Grove, where they bought some books, then we went to Marmalade for lunch. In ten minutes, I have a meeting with two young teens and their mother.
-
My internet isn't doing so well with the red carpet streaming, so I'm shutting it off to preserve my sanity.
-
Not just your internet, DR ChasSmith. The stream just did a goofy thing and cut away from Bernadette Peters and repeated the Hugh Jackman portion.
-
DR Doug do you have a typical, small, English refrigerator?
And how many times a week does the truck deliver the ice?
-

The last time I had some deviled eggs from the Safeway deli, the whites were so rubbery, I thought they were made from SillyPutty.
-
It's still raining and it's going to carry on raining all week.
But what about the HHW Tony Party? I hope you can still attend.
With the time difference, Doug should already know who won the Tonys.
-
Sixty Minutes is now droning on and on not realizing its time has passed.
-
Tackiest interviewer comment, so far: one of the NY1 chicks just said to Kelli O'Hara, "We want to see you win tonight - for a change."
-
I am watching the red carpet HERE (http://www.tonyawards.com/en_US/tonynight/guide.html). Click on Watch Now.
All I can see is a guy with a video camerra standing in front of our camera. Am I doing something wrong?
-
DR TCB, I think the red carpet is finished. The Watch Now button seems to have disappeared.
-
DR TCB, I think the red carpet is finished. The Watch Now button seems to have disappeared.
I never had the Watch Now button, I only had a Launch button.
-
Thanks for the vibes, DRs Jane and Jeanne. I am feeling better, but not setting the world on fire today. Watched the first 3 episodes of HBO's Mildred Pierce.
DR Ginny, glad you are feeling better...and since there are already forest fires burning all over, it's ok that you're not setting any new ones :)

60 Minutes is talking about The Book of Mormon

I'm talkin' about PAGE 5.

BTW, I loved HBO's MILDRED PIERCE. I loved the original, too.

No - I avoided it.

Opening number was fun.....lyrics a bit tortured.....but fun.
Wow.....I got the orchestrations winner right, too!

Loved the entire opening.
Me, too! Especially Patti and her lawnmower.
-
If the Oscars can carry their awards live to the West Coast (and alway have); and the Golden Globes the same; and I believe even the Emmys, what is wrong with the Tonys?
-
Michael McGarth best featured actor musical....Nice Work if You Can Get It.
Here comes Bernadette.
-
FOLLIES number
-
Wow! Danny B rocking his number from FOLLIES!!!
-
And not one split leap or back flip....imagine that.
-
Page 6!
-
Loved the entire opening.
Me, too! Especially Patti and her lawnmower.
We were amused as well.
-
So, we're announcing the winners and not leaving it for the West Coast?
-
So, we're announcing the winners and not leaving it for the West Coast?
BK said he didn't care if you announced the names.
-
Back from meeting with the two teen girls. Mom is very nice and I cast the younger in the role Melody would have done, and the older will play an auditioner in another episode - both very talented and cute, but totally different. The Melody replacement is actually much closer to the young actress in the film we're spoofing so that's fun.
-
So, the show is on now and people are winning awards. I don't mind the names - I have little interest but, of course, will watch anyway. But aren't we supposed to be having a partay right now - how can we only be on page six?
-

Show is moving right along.....by this time at the Academy Awards we might have seen only one winner....if that.

Actually, we are, but it's not for that one. And actually, if I don't end up with the first gal I asked to replace Melody in THAT one (Mel was doing two episodes) then I could use the older sister here, because she looks just like Linda Blair. But the younger sister is for something else.
-
GHOST THE MUSICAL......
-
I'm curious to see the Newsies number - the snippets I've seen look awful, with all the flipping around.
-
Well, we have over seventy GUESTS - if only they'd come out of the woodwork and post.
-
My ears are BLEEDING
-
I'm curious to see the Newsies number - the snippets I've seen look awful, with all the flipping around.
You will not be disappointed.
-
Well, I hear the magic effects are good in GHOST, but I can't say much god about what I just heard.
-
QUO VADIS?
-
They sang really loud. That's the best I can say
-
Hooray for John Tiffany!
-
John Tiffany ONCE best director of a musical......I got that one right, too....thanks to the things I read here on HHW

Mike Nichols.

Mike Nichols looks very fragile.
-
I love how they're putting the winning show poster behind the winners while they give their speeches.
-
Mike Nichols Best Director of a Play - Death of a Salesman
Not my choice.....but giving a nice funny speech
-
Mike Nichols looks very fragile.
Very.....isn't he about 100 years old?
-
I knew we'd be glad we saw ONCE!
I'm sorry its choreographer lost to NEWSIES.
-
JCS - I really want to like this.... fingers crossed
-
I like that there are more performances than jokes
-
I liked that a lot!!! Sounded good....until the last note!
Tight pants....whew!
And he was wearing my old blue sequined vest from my disco competition days.
-
I liked it too!
-
I like that there are more performances than jokes
Amen!
-
Page Seven.
-
Of course Newsies won for choreography - that's what people think choreography is these days. A shame.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Can't get past how FAST the show is moving....that's great! Neil has been offstage for a long time....he must be changing for something funny.
-
My friend Ted.
-
Yeah!!! I like Christian Borle..
-
Wow...featured actor in a play....Christian Borle....Peter & the Star Catcher.....got that one right, too.
-
Me too DR CILLA LIZ

It sounds like these sisters might work out for the better.
-
Yeah, I'm beginning to think that, too, Jane.
-
Two hours until the Tonys.
-
But I'm enjoying the postings.

That looks like fun....Nice Work If You Can Get It.....

I know that DRs Larry and Ginny have both seen ONCE. IIRC, DR Ben saw PETER & THE STARCATCHER. Have any other DRs seen any of these shows?
-
Wow! What a bunch of great shows!
I saw ZACH in the W;T clip!!
-
Yeah, I'm beginning to think that, too, Jane.
That is a good thing.
-
Good night DR TCB.
Not sure how I feel about END OF THE RAINBOW.....now that I've seen that performance....hmmmmmmmmmmm.....
-
Just got a nice e-mail from the niece of Victor Young - she's anxious to get her I Married a Monster and I gave her the good news that in a few weeks we have one of Mr. Young's greatest scores coming.
-
I haven't seen any of them, but am planning a trip to NYC this fall....sometime, don't know when...so I'm hoping to see some of them then,
-
Haven't seen a damned thing.
That sequence was incredible. And now I do want to see the Garland.
-
Page eight Tony Award dance.
-
Shouldn't we be on page eighty-eight?
-
PETER AND THE STARCATCHER and TWO GUV'NORS are the next two on my list.
-
Tony Awards in ninety minutes.
-
Just got a nice e-mail from the niece of Victor Young - she's anxious to get her I Married a Monster and I gave her the good news that in a few weeks we have one of Mr. Young's greatest scores coming.
Aren't we all!!!
-
PETER AND THE STARCATCHER and TWO GUV'NORS are the next two on my list.
Both look very unusual and most entertaining!
-

Aren't we all!!!
Yes indeedy.
-
The woman playing Judy Garland reminded me of Mimi Hines.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
NEWSIES -- score.
-
Original score NEWSIES.....whose fans demanded that it be brought to the stage!
-
The woman playing Judy Garland reminded me of Mimi Hines.
Almost looked like something from SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE
-
It's the soul train version of PORGY!
-
Not sure I want to see P/B.....
Sound design of a play.....PETER AND THE STARCATCHER... missed that one....thought END OF THE RAINBOW would get SOMETHING.....
-
It's the soul train version of PORGY!
Is Diane Paulus related to Don Cornelius?
-
We're seeing the Cincinnati Opera version of PORGY & BESS at the end of this month.
-
MR BK Audra McDonald was wearing a slip.
-
Costume design of a play...Peter and the Starcatcher
-
Revival of a play DEATH OF A SALESMAN
-
Here is ONCE
-
I want to see ONCE
-
I gotta tell you.
-
How can we still be on page eight?
-
Are the Tony Awards over in an hour?
-
I want to see ONCE
I want to go back!
-
'night
-
Best Play CLybourne Park.....
And here comes EVITA!
-
Not real impressed with Ricky Martin
-
Ricky Martin is not Broadway.
-
That's a nice number.....but they did it better on THE VIEW a few weeks ago.
-
I love that song, and this one missed.
-
Ricky Martin is not Broadway.
Prolly not.
-
Yup DR CHAS SMITH it's one of my favorite songs from the score. I did like the movement and costumes.
-
I think this commercial for LES MIZ is fabulous! Makes me want to see it,
-
Ricky Martin is not Broadway.
Prolly not.
He's a nice guy. He lived in my building when he was playing Marius many years ago.
-
WTF is this? Is it 1977?
-
I think this commercial for LES MIZ is fabulous! Makes me want to see it,
Me too....if I can stop crying.
-
I think this commercial for LES MIZ is fabulous! Makes me want to see it,
Me too, which surprised me.
-
I loved GODSPELL in 1972, but the keys sound lower to me now and nothing I see here makes me want to catch this version.
-
Patti and Mandy.
-
MR BK Patti LuPone's dress will make you howl!!!
Best revival of a musical PORGY & BESS......wrong choice.....wrong choice....wrong choice
Speech congratulating themselves on their messing up of a classic....come on!
-
PORGY AND BESS won? The sound you hear is George, Ira, and Dubose spinning!
-
Ditto, to both.
-
What!!!!!!
-
Now this is a WTF moment!
-
Damn....how old IS that Tracy? Thirty?
-
That Corny Collins is pretty funny though.
-
So . . . why . . . why . . . did we have to watch something from a cruiseship? Is Royal Caribbean one of the sponsors? Mercy me, it is!
-
Why are they doing something from Hairspray for heaven's sake?
-
I guess we are lucky one of the sponsor's children hasn't written a play.
-
I'm home! I worked concessions from 10:30 am until 7:00 and I'm now watching "Mad Men." I have a lot of ketchuping to do!
-
Well, that's a new low and I haven't even seen the broadcast yet. I did start to watch the third Beck film but thirty minutes in I dozed off for about twenty minutes, so I rewound and watched again - a really good one so far.
-
I'll probably watch Mad Men tomorrow at some point. Normally it would be tomorrow night, but I'm seeing Jason Graae and Faith Prince's show. Tuesday night something else, Wednesday night I'm doing NOTHING and then Thursday is NY.
-
Shouldn't we be on page ninety-nine by now?
-
What am I, doing a monologue?
-
I'm sure I will be when the West Coast broadcast begins.
-
George, Jeanne, and I will have to keep the home fries burning.
-
Shouldn't we be on page tenty-ten by now.
-
I'm getting sleepy and need an early night.
Good night!
-
Sorry, BK, I didn't see your previous post. But I do need to leave.
-
Sleepy? What have we all turned into - WUSSBURGERS?
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Yesterday, after I helped set up the PFLAG tents (my niece is on their board), we got a picture taken of us :D:
-
I remember one long-ago Tony broadcast where we had over 1000 postings - those days are gone, it would seem and yet our stats tell me we are at an all-time high, views wise. Go know.
-
That's a very cute niece, George.
-
Is this the longest commercial on the planet or has everyone stopped watching the show?
-
Thirty minutes to the West Coast broadcast.
-
Is it already over on the East Coast.
-
Or, to put it another way, on the East Coast is it already over?
-
That's a very cute niece, George.
Yes, she is.
-
Steve Kazee wins
-
Steve Kazee takes it for ONCE!!!
-
We were watching Hugh Jackman and his wife MR BK....
-
Hugh Jackman's wife?
-
I gotta tell you.
-
I am so happy for Steve Kazee! I was sure Danny had it.
-
Don't forget to download your printable Tony Awards ballot (http://cloud.playbill.com/pdf/TonyBallot2012.pdf)!
Thanks! I just printed it...I'm ready now.
-
On the way to the Grove we ran into horrid traffic from the Gay Pride parade or do in West Hollywood. I'd completely forgotten about it. At one point we saw an old man with a long beard, gross clothes and long stringy hair - I said, "Gay - no pride."
-
James Cordon.....that little bit I saw looked GREAT!!!! Best actor play....
-
I had a grilled artichoke and mac and cheese for lunch - even though there couldn't have been more than five ounces of pasta in the mac and cheese I didn't even finish it. It was kind of yuckilicious.
-
I am so happy for Steve Kazee! I was sure Danny had it.
Me too!
-
Forty minutes to the Tonys.
-
Two Gov'nors!!!
-
I didn't think Danny had a chance.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Why is sixty minutes finding it necessary to do a story on The Book of Mormon.
-
He's truly shocked to win, it's great!
-
She's my baby-mama and I can't wait to marry her
-
Has 60 Minutes just lost its point?
-
James Cordon.....that little bit I saw looked GREAT!!!! Best actor play....
That bit of his reminded me of a really bizarre improve a local actor did at auditions for a show DR Elmore directed here many, many years ago.
-
Welcome sixty-five GUESTS.
-
Leap of Faith now performing
-
Well Leap of Faith looks pretty much like crap.
-
James Cordon.....that little bit I saw looked GREAT!!!! Best actor play....
That bit of his reminded me of a really bizarre improve a local actor did at auditions for a show DR Elmore directed here many, many years ago.
I think that actor has auditioned for me as well.
-
Great photos, DR Doug R!
Agreed!
-
No desire to see Leap of Faith
-
Leap of Faith was crap in LA and it got WORSE from what I understand - the cockiness of these creatives knew no bounds from what I could tell.
-
Doesn't do a damned thing for me.
-
Fifteen minutes until the Tonys.
-
No desire to see Leap of Faith
It's closed. That's why I'm surprised it was on the Awards.
-
I am so happy for ONCE. I'd love it if Cristin won as best actress; that would put a crimp in Miss Audra's expectations.
-
No desire to see Leap of Faith
It's closed. That's why I'm surprised it was on the Awards.
Glad I didn't want to see it!
-
Best actress Play Nina Variada Venus in Furs
LOL she loves Christopher Plummer!!! LOL
-
He should have offered to blow the whistle again.
-
I pretty much only logged on to rage about Porgy and Bess. The hell?!?
-
AND HOW DID THE GUY FROM FOLLIES NOT WIN!?!?!?! D:
-
How can it be.....Audra....best leading actress in a musical for that....thing!
-
Well, I hear the magic effects are good in GHOST, but I can't say much god about what I just heard.
I remember a song from GHOST on one of the late night talk shows...it was just the guy and the girl standing at mics and singing. No context, no nothing, just the song. It was kind of boring. :-\
-
Another MacDonald win. People like her work. I do not understand it.
-
He should have offered to blow the whistle again.
LOL
-
I was born in a log cabin.......
-
Another MacDonald win. People like her work. I do not understand it.
We ain't people!!!
-
Me either
-
I do not understand the Audra thing at all - it's become a tired joke, actually. Well, the Tonys begin.
-
... I want this new winner to shut up. Please, someone, make her shut up. -_-
-
Shouldn't we be on page eleven hundred already?
-
No accounting for taste.
-
I think ONCE wll win best musical and the show will be over.
-
I actually didn't like her on Private Practice either...then again, I can't for the life of me figure out why I watched as much of Private Practice as I did
-
I definitely want to see ONCE.
-
YEAH!!!!!! ONCE!
-
best musical ONCE!!! Hurray!!
-
Yay, ONCE!!!
-
Matt & Trey were pretty funny
-
Yay!
-
Lovely send up of the pretentious acceptors of the P/B Tony......
-
Matt & Trey were pretty funny
Sure were!
-
I think this is the first time I've ever seen the best musical before it won the Tony.
-
I guess I'm a little late in deciding I'd like to see it!
-
So, now we can all look forward to being entertained over the next three hours by the West Coast Contingent?
-
Matthew Broderick is beginning to look like the Pillsbury Doughnboy, don't you think?
I love Neil Patrick Harris!
I still don't understand the run of MEMPHIS.
-
Loved Neil Patrick Harris' last bit!
-
Nice closing song....and a nice show.
Take it away West Coast....off to watch THE PITCH and MAD MEN
-
Agreed Vixmom, especially the end
-
Matthew Broderick is beginning to look like the Pillsbury Doughnboy, don't you think?
I love Neil Patrick Harris!
I still don't understand the run of MEMPHIS.
I didn't want to say it.
-
The Vixter and I really enjoyed Leap of Faith
-
Matthew Broderick is beginning to look like the Pillsbury Doughnboy, don't you think?
Yes.
-
I don't understand why we have to see a number from THE BOOK OF MORMON on tonight's broadcast. Have we ever had last year's winner back for an encore before?
I'm sure that they just paid to have their song on the show.
-
The Vixter and I really enjoyed Leap of Faith
Indeed.
-
I'm all caught up on the posts. :D
-
We missed the beginng of the show - I joined as the Porgy & Bess number was being performed - if anyone is taping it I would greatly appreciate a copy
-

I'm recording it...I will be happy to send you a copy.
-
It's pretty cool that they have the posters behind the winners as they give their speeches.
-
I'm going to bed and hope to sleep better than last night...
-

thank you George! I see some new king rings in your future!! :-* :-* :-*
-
King Rings cool!
-
Liked the Book of Mormon opening, didn't like the Neil Patrick Harris number much - is it yet another Shaiman/Wittman thing - that stuff is boring me to tears. And the Newsies number - horrible. Everything I hate about today's choreography - no storytelling - can you imagine what Michael Kidd would have done with something like that? And no big musical numbers have rideouts anymore - I HATE that. They sing the last word and pose - that's the end of every number these days. Can you imagine Hello, Dolly with that kind of ending. Dolly will never go away again - pose. Terrible. And I'm guessing Rob Ashford did the Neil Patrick Harris number - at least it looked like his usual crap. I really liked Judith Light's speech.
-
Shouldn't we be on page 1300?
-
King Rings cool!
Ooo...sounds intriguing.
;)
-
Aren't we on page 1300?
-
Michael McGrath won on the west coast broadcast, too.
:D
-
I was rather hoping things might turn out a little differently.
-
Mainly in the latter part of the show.
'Night, all!
-
The Danny number was just as I remembered it in the revival - too manic, too busy.
-
The mash-ups - not so funny.
-
Other than that, I'm enjoying it.
-
If that's the little girl who's playing Annie, she's going to be wonderful.
-
I spent the evening at a church cookout. I will have to catch the youtubes tomorrow.
-
So...how about that number from Ghost?
-
Mike Nichols just got bleeped. I wonder what he said.
-
That looks like fun....Nice Work If You Can Get It.....
Was it supposed to be funny that she was posed as Annie Oakley with a rifle while singing "Someone to Watch OVer Me"
I wish that they had done the number they did on THE VIEW. It featured both leads much better and IMO sold the show better. I actually think that this is the only show I would really like to see.
-
I think a lot of the musicals did not pick the right numbers to showcase their shows. An example for me is Evita. I know Ricky Martin is a big name and agree that he should have been in the number. But the show is Eva Peron. I want to see if this actress is any good. From that number I have no idea.
-
That Ghost number was just about the nadir of anything I have ever seen EVER. Awful! And Jesus Christ, Superstar? Well, no thank you.
-
King Rings cool!
dang - rey kings
-
Mike Nichols was amusing.
-
aaargh KEY RINGS!!!
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Note to self; teach Mom how to spell the words "Key Rings".
-
I want to see ONCE
Is what they showed on the Tonys an accurate portrayal of how the show is?
-
I think this commercial for LES MIZ is fabulous! Makes me want to see it,
Me too.
-
Another MacDonald win. People like her work. I do not understand it.
I love Audra McDonald.
-
We missed the beginng of the show - I joined as the Porgy & Bess number was being performed - if anyone is taping it I would greatly appreciate a copy
I'm recording it...I will be happy to send you a copy.
Make sure you record over 10 minutes.
-
I love Neil Patrick Harris as host. I wish he could have done more. Loved his opening, and his closing.
Make sure all you West Coasters recording record 10 minutes extra. Or you'll miss Best Musical and NPH's number.
-
Note to self; teach Mom how to spell the words "Key Rings".
I can spell I can't type!
-
The Danny number was just as I remembered it in the revival - too manic, too busy.
I didn't think it showcased the show too well.
Also didn't care for the Newsies number too much.
-
Mike Nichols was amusing.
See i did not like his speech at all. To me he was rambling. There were a few speeches i loved like best featured actress in a musical.
-
We missed the beginng of the show - I joined as the Porgy & Bess number was being performed - if anyone is taping it I would greatly appreciate a copy
I'm recording it...I will be happy to send you a copy.
Make sure you record over 10 minutes.
I'm not recording it on my DVR, I'm recording directly to my DVD burner...so it's recording live and won't stop recording until I stop it. :)
-
Didn't love the Nice Work number - ordinary and Matthew just looks so bloated.
-
I wasn't able to start watching the Tonys till 9pm (hence the reason i wasn't posting while the show was on).
-
Kelli looked very pretty, though. And Christian Borle gave a nice, short speech.
-
Shouldn't we be on page 1400 by now?
-
Nobody here but us chickens but us chickens is cherce.
-
Nice speech from Judy Kaye.
-
My darling Judy was the highlight of the show.
-
Not sure what I thought of Peter and the Starcatcher, but for me the One Man, Two Guvnor's bit was great and I'd love to see that show - and also I really would love to see The Best Man and the Linda Lavin play. The Judy Garland thing was just too weird for the room.
-
Welcome sixty GUESTS.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
So, there's another ninety minutes of this thing?
-
What am I, doing a monologue?
-
Apparently so, since I'm the only one in the jernt. Fine.
-
Porgy and Bess was a little HYPER? What are those tempos?
-
And the best score category - what a sad joke. That's what Broadway has become - two original scores? Why did Mr. Menken act surprised - they were going to give it to Frank Wildhorn? Please. It's winding down, surely?
-
Once's number came off very well, I thought. Simple. Nobody flipped.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Even our GUESTS have dwindled down to a precious few.
-
Perhaps we'll get our second wind soon. I was going to finish the Beck movie, but not if this show goes all the way to eleven.
-
Evita - horrifying. Another Rob Ashford choreographic special.
-
Well, our GUESTS have returned en masse - welcome sixty-nine GUESTS.
-
Apparently so, since I'm the only one in the jernt. Fine.
My brand new cable modem every once in a while just decides to stop working. :P I unplugged it a couple of time and then I turned off my computer AND unplugged the modem. Then I plugged the modem back in and turned on my computer. I had to do that TWICE! :o
Hopefully, it’ll stay on. :-\
-
So far, so good.
-
Hairspray - as other have said - WHY? How disgusting. So, the only thing you have to do to take up five minutes of Tony time is be a sponsor?
-
I gotta tell you.
-
At least George is with us.
-
George and our fifty-six GUESTS.
-
I've seen a couple of things on youtube. I have to say, I would buy tickets to Book of Mormon based on last year's and tonight's numbers.
-
However, although our local theater has booked, Hair, The Producers, La Cage, and Spring Awakening, they declined to book The Book of Mormon for fear of offending someone.
-

I would love to see that.
-
However, although our local theater has booked, Hair, The Producers, La Cage, and Spring Awakening, they declined to book The Book of Mormon for fear of offending someone.
Really? REALLY??
-
So...nothing against Hugh Jackman but he gets his award on the air and Bernadette Peters...THE Bernadette Peters...only gets a mention?? :-\
-
Really.
-
Shouldn't we be on page 1500?
-
Leap of Faith - Rise Up - didn't. They paid a LOT of money to do that number.
-
I haven't been able to find Leap of Faith on youtube yet.
-
I must say that unlike the Oscars, the speeches are uniformly lovely.
-
When did Candice Bergen turn into Barbara Cook? And that outfit.
-
My modem crapped out again...dammit!
-
Interesting...I turned off the firewall (just to see what would happen) and instantly, my Internet access came back. I was able to turn it back on and (so far) it's still working.
-
Thrilling information, ain't it?
;)
