Shortly after beginning Jr. High I made a visit to the school library & met a wonderful woman, the school librarian. On that first visit she gave me a book to read, “The President's Lady” by Irving Stone. From then on I read every book of his I could find.
During my 3 years at the school she kept me well supplied with books, usually letting me check out more than the number of books permitted. She introduced me to many classics including my beloved “Les Misérables”.
Silly me, I expected all school librarians to be as helpful & expected to repeat the experience in high school. Sadly the new librarian brushed me off & told me to fend for myself.
