Well, you've read the notes, the notes were broad and had horizons, and now it is time for you to post until the broad cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: OSSIFY!
-
First post after BK!
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Listening to the Laurette master. I knew it sounded better than the previous release, but I wasn't sure how MUCH better until I played both opening tracks back to back - it's HUGELY better, and so is Rashomon, which sounded good on the first release but sounds amazing here.

Cool! Can't wait to hear it!
-
Well, I need to go to sleep now, so I will.
Have a good day, all!
-
Can't go to sleep until I finish listening so I can approve. Ten more minutes. The biggest improvement is Death of a Salesman, which is actually listenable now - twelve years ago none of this was possible and I hated the way Salesman sounded but it was either that or don't issue at all. This is a massive upgrade - it's not ever going to sound pristine, but wow.
-
And now to bed.
-
Hello.
-
TOD
Where's my damn book?
-
;)
-
Good morning, all!
-
Today is Wednesday and that can mean only one thing. Thirty percent off for seniors and Goodwill.
I shall peruse the fleas and then come home and work on my review which MR BK can indeed look forward to.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Still suffering. I didn’t have any real Benedryl in the house and the generic just doesn’t work for me.

That’s horrible. Do you take the pink capsules, or what? Store brands work fine for me, but I think you have much more severe allergies.

I guess I do.

I just spoke to Joshie about tomorrow's orchestra reading of High Button Shoes and a possible trip next week to SUNY New Paltz for a treasure hunt.
-
New Paltz!
When would that be, if you go?
-
A very welcome ME day here, and I'm doing my best not to waste it.
Translation: I've wasted some of it already. :)
-
That could be a song. It's up to you, New Paltz, New Paltz.
-
The Borowitz joke "Trump names Lori Loughlin Education Secretary" is actually too close to being better than who we actually have. :)
-
Actually, Lori Loughlin seems to care way way too much, which is awful for what she did, but might arguably be the right passion level for the country,
but legal limits should have been observed!
-
Just as an example: It seems to me that if Felicity Huffman and Bill Macy had done a theater arts seminar at the college for a semester or two, so many students would have gained something - and then their kids getting in on some legacy type idea for their folks being teachers would be legal, even if nepotism, whatever anyone feels about the legal ways kids get into schools. How would it be different than someone donating for a wing of a building and their kids getting in. It's not fair either, but somehow everyone knows about things like that and goes along with it.
-
Can I work this topic to page 2 without getting too controversial? :)
-
Sample parent of kid not admitted: "Of course, the two Feldshein kids would be among the first 12 kids getting the slots in the first year of the Feldshein Film studies program. No one's hiding anything, are they?" :)

"... The Magic Castle" has arrived in midtown Manhattan!

Page 2!!!

These new money laundering charges are far more damning. Our youngest was an underachiever until graduate school. Had I been offered the chance to bribe his way into USC, even knowing he would do the work, I would not have done it. If Loughlin's daughter wasn't such a shallow flake Laughlin might not look like an idiot for even doing this.

Greetings from Newark International Airport! I arrived last night and spent the night at an airport hotel. My flight to DC was supposed to leave exactly at this time (12:51 pm), but is now delayed till 2:55
-
I had a really good time in Athens. I would have liked to have gone to at least one island, but it didn't work out. I enjoyed a leisurely schedule. My friend is a late sleeper so we didn't really get started till about 11:00am to 1:00 pm, depending on the day.
-
Welcome almost home. Those are late starts to the day. I am glad you enjoyed your stay.
-
I really enjoyed the food. The hotel had a huge spread for breakfast. The scrambled eggs were diced (?) and I think they probably mixed butter in them. They also had fried eggs, potatoes, mushrooms, beans, spinach or cheese pie, "gratinated" tomatoes. Even mixed vegetables. (and bacon and sausage for the meat lovers). Of course Greek yogurt was featured. I mixed it with delicious strawberry preserves and put it over bran flakes. The bread was delicious. There were several kinds of bread and rolls and those little pretzel-like things covered in sesame seeds. Lots of other stuff too!

Thanks, DR Jane!

Greetings from Newark International Airport! I arrived last night and spent the night at an airport hotel.
That really is such a good idea, to switch hotels like that, especially not to have to worry about things like traffic to the airport before a flight.
-
I had a lot of authentic Greek food also, such as fava spread (made with yellow peas), Greek salad, tomatoes stuffed with rice, of course tzatziki sauce. Of course I had pasta, but it was different from what I am used to: noodles with mushrooms and a delicious sauce. We even had pizza, which was good too.

Well, actually, FJL, my flight from Athens arrived too late for me to get a connecting flight, so I had to stay overnight. The fares on Emirates from Newark to Athens were much cheaper than they were on other airlines, even when counting the cost of the hotel.
-
We went to (what's left of ) some temples, including the temple of Zeus, Hadrian's Gate among other sites.
-
When I went to L.A. in 2011, I actually stayed pretty near the airport for the trip, because our friend Joe who was in "Follies" was staying with friends who lived very close by the airport.
-
My friend pointed out an olive tree that had been transplanted to the grounds of a University ( I think !). Anyway, it was approximately 800 years old.
-
We saw Melina Mercouri's childhood home (an apartment)
-
Getting from the hotel to the area of the Ahmanson (where I saw "Follies" with my friend Harriet) and also the Taper was very quick.
-
We went to three museums, each one fascinating. The first was the Acropolis Museum. Many of the floors are made of glass so you can see the ruins below. It's mind-boggling to read how old some of the artifacts are.
-
At the Taper, I saw "Los Otros" with BK and got to meet his friend Michele Pawk who was co-starring in the show.
-
Next was the Archaeological Museum. It was really amazing. It had a large section of just ancient vases.
-
The drive had been very easy on the weekend, though I guess there would have been traffic during the week.
-
The last was the Byzantine and Christian Museum. In visiting all these museums, I realized how little I know about Ancient Greece, etc. I never knew, for example, how large the Greek empire was at one time.
-
And then of course, getting to the plane from the hotel was very easy.
But switching hotels - I don't think I've ever done that, except during weeks-long business trips, like in Atlanta on an AT&T job years ago, when the room rates changed a lot and everyone in our group on that job changed at the same time because if the room rates.
-
Just got a message from United Airlines. My flight is now delayed until 3:25 pm. At this rate I could have taken a train to the city and seen a matinee.
-
I hoped to get us to page 3 to make up for some E&T-ness, but not now, I guess.
-

Actually, FJL, I've switched hotels many times, usually because I saved a lot of money!
-

Or maybe it doesn't always work out. :(
Do you have access to that nice United club?

Oh, I see. I'd go back and delete my irrelevant posts, but I think Bk would rather have the extra irrelevant posts. :)

When they did that "Grease" revival where all the students looked 35 or more - that's the closest I've gotten (so far) to seeing ancient Grease.

Is that your friend in your avatar photo? He looks very nice.
(Kidding.)

Hmm, page 3 may be near after all.

Oh, I completeely forgot that I have two passes a year from the credit card! I'll check. Oh, I just remembered, I'm in terminal A, which only has United Express flights, so I'm not sure there's a club here, but I'll see.
-
Did I mention finally figuring out why so many people "decided" to do their own returns, or at least try to? That it was finally seeing that Mnuchin and Trump had sent letters to everyone whom had been under a certain amount of income in 2017 and offered access to totally free and simply worded online software, so it was risk-free to give it a try. (If I mentioned it on HHW before, sorry about that - but it was a curiosity that they all thought of it, but it now makes total sense.)
-
That last post of mine could have been 3 posts.
-
I've got to get better at that. :)
-
I mean, really stretching an idea out
-
to help the posting total.
-
New Paltz!
When would that be, if you go?
Next week, if possible.
-
Welcome back, DR KevinH! Sounds like a wonderful trip.

The Club place in Fort Lauderdale had been so great in November, because of how concentrated the people were at so few gates that day. And it was somehow free with the credit card I'd used. I may have to plan for that next time from Florida in case there are such packed waiting areas.
-
But apparently, they've greatly expanded the Fort Lauderdale airport since last fall, supposedly in November or December 2018.
-
No mail yet
-
So the book may yet arrive
-
The dress I ordered for the Vixters wedding is due to arrive today too
-
We'll see
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.

Ditto and Ditto!

Thanks again, FJL! I found the United Club and just had a salad and a brownie. It's of course, much quieter and relaxing in here as compared with the gate area. It softens the blow of my delayed flight. The departure is still supposed to be 3:25. Let's hope!
-
Welcome back, DR KevinH! Sounds like a wonderful trip.
Thanks, DR elmore! It was!
-
And the orchestra books are finished! How To Succeed . . . is almost finished!
-
Great reading about the travels of DR KEVIN H - and the former travels of DR FJL.
Allergy be done vibes for DR JOHN G.
-
Review has been written and submitted...so now we wait.
-
They have salads in the United Club?
-
Amazon has been horrible about reviews. They were over a week behind on mine and while most of them have finally posted, they're STILL three to go - no, I'm wrong, about six or seven to go. When those will appear is anyone's guess.
-
They have salads in the United Club?
Yes. They had some greens and then celery, carrots, garbanzo beans, tomatoes and cheese (maybe something else). They also had two kinds of soup.
-
Now I see why people hate United. I left the United Club and went to my gate (21) only to see St. Louis as the destination. The woman at another gate confirmed that my flight was leaving from Gate 21. I heard the woman at gate 21 tell someone that the DC flight would leave after this one. I looked at the board and saw that the St. Louis flight was supposedly leaving at 3:24 and the Washington flight at 3:25. From the same gate! Then I got a text saying the flight was now leaving from Gate 24. I went to Gate 24 and asked the agent. He said yes, that was correct. I asked when it might be leaving. He replied "we're waiting for the inbound aircraft." The departure time is still listed as 3:25 and it's now 3:17
-
Hey, at least we made it to page 4!
-
Just remembered I should check on my Fosse/Verdon DVR capture. I was way too beat to watch it last night, but will probably want to tonight.
-
Someone posted a link to iTunes and the Fosse episode, supposedly available for free there, but I can't seen how.
-
Back from the mail place.
-
The Borowitz joke "Trump names Lori Loughlin Education Secretary" is actually too close to being better than who we actually have. :)
True. Too true.
-
I liked Michelle Williams as Gwen but Sam Rockwell was not Bob Fosse.....perhaps he will get better as the series goes along....I hope....but I never imagined Bob Fosse as a sour midget with a permanent lemon puss..... Right now he isn't even Roy Scheider....
-

I wonder why they call it Fava spread when it is made is yellow split peas instead of green Fava beans. It still sounds good.

There was too long of a line for this and then I am sorry to say we did not return. Our friends really wanted to see it.
-
Just got a message from United Airlines. My flight is now delayed until 3:25 pm. At this rate I could have taken a train to the city and seen a matinee.
I hate when that happens, especially when the drive home would have been faster.

DITTO, DITTO, AND DITTO!
-
Can't remember if I posted this last night, but...
There is a ton of lazy writing here - it's not brain surgery to research stuff - it takes about thirty seconds. And yet, as a friend wrote: "after an interesting recreation of Gwen giving valuable creative input to filming Big Spender, she's back in NYC telling Bob about lines outside the Ziegfeld... They did have lines outside the Ziegfeld three years later for Cabaret. I was in one. But she's talking about Sweet Charity, which played at the Rivoli. Bob jokes the lines may be there to see The Love Bug. Gwen says the Ziegfeld has only one screen. Okay this was decades before multiplex venues, and The Love Bug didn't open (at the Music Hall I think) until at least a month after Charity opened at the Rivoli."
-
Sounds like the same sloppy mishandling of easily found detail plaguing the Davis/Crawford thing.
-
While at the market today we missed an exciting event here. An otter was on our lawn. Fortunately our neighbor was home and sent us a video-super cute.
-
Now I will forever be watching for an otter to come all the way up here from the river.
-
The river has been rising with the rains. There must also be snow melt as it appears to have risen about 4 feet since yesterday. Nothing to worry about, just interesting to see.
-
I went out an picked another large basketful of loquats today. And you can't tell that I made a dent in the fruit on the tree.
J.B. expects me to peel his, but he does love them and he devours most of the flesh.
-
I wore a face mask so I wouldn't be out in the pollen. I seem to have survived OK.
-
It supposedly hit 96 today. It felt good outside though.
I watered the plants. the tomatillos in the ground are doing better than those in pots. I already have three or four large fruit growing on one in the ground. But they all look healthy and content.
-
I wore a face mask so I wouldn't be out in the pollen. I seem to have survived OK.
Smart move.
-
96 degrees :o
-
I also listened to a little more of Hotel at the Corner of Bitter and Sweet. I should finish it tomorrow. Fascinating book.
There really was a jazz great named Oscar Holden in Seattle, but the recording in the book is a fiction.

This story is very funny.
Police stormed a bathroom with guns drawn to catch a burglar. They found a Roomba. (https://www.dailyherald.com/news/20190410/police-stormed-a-bathroom-with-guns-drawn-to-catch-a-burglar-they-found-a-roomba?fbclid=IwAR0saFwUjWvTjiMVS74TQG12T2vihrQ_hd7vl4RHyy65_6kB65gMsXJCtGUl)

I have to work on the resume again. It seems there is an actual job that was posted and closed. When my friend mentioned me to the HR woman, however, they opened it up again for a day.

Five!

People are scared of everything, Jane.

Thanks, DR Jane. I finally got home at about 5:45 pm.

Good news. Glad you made it safely.

I love the ideas around Merrily more than the show itself, which may be why I like this:

Well, I must be off. I'm ushering for The Mikado (https://www.washingtoncenter.org/event/mikado-1904/) at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts. I'm sure that it'll be good!
Be back later.

Thanks, DR Jane. I finally got home at about 5:45 pm.
I am glad it wasn't worse. Sleep well tonight.

I am watching ATP tennis and Stanley Cup Playoffs....it's a nice night. This time tomorrow we are predicted to have 60 MPH winds - but at least no snow.....

Back from a Theology on Tap night
-
That's when a bunch if us from church go to a local bar/restaurant and have a Bible study or a discussion over a few beers
-
It was very interesting
-
My dress arrived today all the way from Hong Kong
-
I need a new body
-
The biggest mystery so far as BK's new book is concerned is its current location
-
I have been avoiding reading any reviews
-
That's when a bunch if us from church go to a local bar/restaurant and have a Bible study or a discussion over a few beers
I like it. It's like my monthly bible study. We Lutherans love our liquid refreshment.
-
I need a new body
Stand in line.
-
So, I did fill out the application. On the last page, it asked if I were disabled. I didn't have to answer. It gave a list of things that are considered a disability. In among the cancer and blind listings was diabetes. I never knew that qualified me as disabled before.
-
The company has offices here in San Antonio and in Austin, so relocation would probably not be required.
-
I'm going to bed. I bought real Benedryl today and am ready to take one.
-
So, good night, all.

Well Katharina Luther was a brewer
-
Finished with my viewing. Listening to music and I made about three ounces of spaghetti for my snack.
-
Good evening.

I need a new body
Does this mean you don't like the dress?

1 point in favor of this possible new job.
-
I need a new body

No, it means I don't like my body
-
I figured out how to watch Fosse/Verdon on iTunes - didn't really care for it mostly due to the awful writing.
-

No, it means I don't like my body
Sorry. I find it is more difficult every year to like my body making it more difficult to find clothes I like. I hope you are happy with the dress.
