And on that note (E-natural), I'm off to my parents' house again.  Today, my sister and her daughter will be there.  I think one of the plans is to look through family photos and sed if we can scan some for ourselves.  I have a bunch from when I was a kid, so I'm bringing those to add to the bunch.  Be back later!

Have a good day, all!

Started the day with Ingmar Bergman's early drama, "Thirst." Now watching "Brute Force."

I'd completely forgotten that I had a New Year's Day little partay last year.  I have no idea why, really.

Tonight, I believe he kitties and I will watch the BBC Shakespeare Love's Labours Lost.  I'm getting through the plays I do not know well. After this, another play with a bed switch, All's Well That Ends Well.

Is Annabelle likely to audition for some Shakespeare in the new year?

Thank God, no.  You do not want to hear her mangle the Bird of Avon. She's pissed that she wasn't seen for CATS, and she's seeing what musicals are being revived.  Today she and Thatch were superheroes all day: Wonder Woman and The Flash.

I did some laundry this morning, then had bills to pay. So far I haven't watched or read (for pleasure) anything. It may be a holiday, but I wanted to get this stuff out of the way.

I also went to Barnes and Noble and got a 2018 wall calendar.  All calendars are half price.  Exciting news, huh?

I'm surprised they were open. Anyone else venture out and know which stores are open today?

Elmore, see if you can find one of those dumb Elf things that are all the rage with kids now. I found a mini one yesterday while trying to find something for Queenie (one of the Night Cats) to play with (he was pouncing on a piece of wood). I tossed it out to him, and he grabbed it and ran into the bushes. I'm sure he tore it apart with much glee. I remember that one of our house cats carried one around for a while -- I don't remember who, though.

Annabelle and Thatch may like one to play with.

Jane takes way better vacations than I do. I thought I was all fancy by going to Disneyland.

Jane takes better vacations than anyone. And more frequent.

I've decided that for 2018 I need 30-hour days. It's the only way to get everything done and still have time to relax.

Vixmom, that's what you work routinely, isn't it?

If vixmom can WORK a 30-hour day, I don't know why the rest of us can't at least HAVE a 30-hour day.

But life ain't fair.  Right?

Discovered I had a copy of Saint-Saens' opera of Samson & Dalila. First act is lovely.

It didn't snow today but that's about the only warming thing to be said of the day. Glad I stayed inside for most of it.

I didn't even see but one of the cats, the feral one who was awfully grateful for both food and unfrozen water.

I decided to call some folks last-minute so we will have at least six people come between six and eight.  Went to K's Donuts (also open) and got me a peanut butter chocolate donut thing prior to knowing I was going to do the little get-together - I ate that all up, of course, but I went to Ralph's and got cupcakes of various varieties and a Black Forest cake.  Mostly I just thought it was nice last year when we did it so it will be nice this year.  And I'm pretty much done with today's writing, almost eleven complete pages, which is really good for a first day and especially because there's literally only two lines of dialogue in those pages - dialogue makes the pages go faster - but this is all prose, mostly.  I enjoyed writing Thrill Ride in the first person, but it's also fun to be back in the third person for this one.

The huge decision I have a head of me is this: The book is in two parts, rather like the Kritzer books.  But I'm not sure I actually want to break them up into chapters, or I may want to do the small numbers rather than actual chapters or maybe even *** between time lapses.  We'll see.
