"Sound Of Music" was on TV here last night - maybe that's why. Maria is 70? Nunsense.

BK, has filled you in on the Ray Courts show.  Both Warren Berlinger and Mariette Hartley were a delight! As was dear Hisaka who brought me the most wonderful gift!  A Japanese Press Book of THE FLY.  Boy, does my name look strange in Japanese.  It was most kind and thoughtful of her.  Thank you, Hisaka!

Wow, what a wonderful gift.

And a great photo of you both.

And just remember, DR Jane, when you are sitting around New York City with absolutely nothing to do with your time; remember you could have been here in the Entertainment Capital of the World, Tacoma, watching MY FAIR LADY!

I shall now be on my way to pick up dear reader Hisaka, so that we may have our big Hisaka dinner at Musso and Frank.  Photographs will be taken.

Keep the home fries burning until my returning.

TCB ;D, nothing to do-right.

Keith's aunt, uncle and cousin, who will be in town from LA, invited me on a day excursion to see a Rockefeller home.  I declined.  Unfortunately that was the afternoon I had free to see them.  Now I need to figure out something else.

I’m finally packed and am now clearing the laundry room of my stuff so the painters can get in here while I’m gone.  Then I have packages to pack for Keith to ship.  Goodness, I just noticed they time.

Bye.

Back from another evening at Middfest.  Tonight I had Thai food for dinner and did not like the chicken on a stick, but the noodles were fine (should have just gotten those).  We visited with an Inuit soapstone carver and watched a performance by Kahurangi, New Zealand's only full-time Maori dance troupe.  They were great!  We then watched the first act of something called Arche Dream, a modern dance allegorical thing that used masks and black lights.  A little bit of that went a long way.

Good Evening!

Back from Artie's...  And what a swell bunch of folks to dine with: DRs MBarnum, elmore, Danise, Rodzinksi and TPunk.

Michael (aka MBarnum) had his first Jewish Deli meal: matzoh ball soup, sweet and sour tongue (yes, tongue), and stuffed cabbage.  And he seemed to enjoy everything that was put in front of him.  And, for now, Artie's is new "favorite restaurant".  -Just wait till we get below the 80's and into midtown and the Village! ;)

Another favorite ridiculous saying.  when someone starts a discussion with the expression "As far as I know, and I could be wrong" and then goes on to do a whole authoritative-sounding analysis based on that matter that is as far as they know but admitting they could be wrong.

That just happened on another chat board, but it seemed appropriate for the topic of the day, and anyway it's one post closer to Godliness.  :)

My friend, Pat, was on ALL MY CHILDREN years ago playing a character named Wally.  His character was involved with  a woman character played by another theatre friend of mine, named Carla Dragoni...I think her character was named Betsy or something like that. Pat's done a lot of episodic and stage.  Now I must rendezvous and meet Kimmel, Hisaka, et al.

DR Danise should be heading out of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang by now.  -Thankfully, she and I both remembered that she had a 7:00 curtain tonight instead of the usual 8:00 - their new 7:00 evening show schedule kicked in this week.  The server at Artie's was very on top of things, and made sure her order came out of the kitchen first - and she had the Southern Fried Chicken (again!) - at a deli!?!?!?  But she also ordered a latke and some egg barley on the side, so... ;)

And since her curtain time was earlier than expected, DR elmore and I suggested that she take a cab down to the theatre - especially since the 1 Train seemed to be running slow today - and very crowded.  I hope she made it, and I hope she enjoyed the show.  -Guess we'll find out tomorrow.

Another Henny Youngman (maybe Myron Cohen) joke, in honor of Artie's deli:

This guy goes into Artie's Deli, the guy behind the counter says we've got delicious tongue, the customer says, nah, I don't want anything that comes from a cow's mouth, gimme a couple of hard-boiled eggs.

Come to think of it, that tongue joke may have actually been in SUGAR BABIES.  I think I remember Carol Channing doing the line about the hard-boiled eggs when the tour came through Boston.

I had a French teacher in high school who would always get her American colloquial sayings mixed up.  She became sort of infamous for them, and one year, one of her classes put together a "book" of them.  Some of the ones I remember...

"That's a piece of pie!"

"It's right on the tip of my mouth."

"Give me five fingers."

"You are green with jealousy."

Etc., etc., etc.  I guess something truly got lost in translation.

OH!

As for doing lunch at Artie's on Monday... That was sort of a joke on my part.  It was a "rhetorical suggestion" since we will not be dining there on Wednesday night.  But if someone does want to get together for lunch on Monday...

OH!

DR elmore et al - As for the possible late lunch/early dinner at Barrymore's tomorrow, Sunday, keep in mind that it's matinee day, and by the time we gather there, we would most likely be fighting the post-matinee crowds.  So....

If you do want to keep it in the Theatre District, there's always John's Pizza - a great space, and since they're soooo big, there's never really problem with a group coming in at the last minute.  Plus, it's just great pizza.  -And since we will be meeting at Barrymore's on Monday night...

Or we could head further uptown too...

DR Jose -  Along the lines of your teacher's sayings, actual sayings from my high school's assistant principal:

Get me an orange soda, any flavor

If you behave, class, we'll be done by a quarter to three, otherwise you're stuck here until 2:45

A washed pot never boils.

We ran through this material like a knife through butter

Maybe a few quiet days at HHW -  unless everyone in NY has the computer with them.

Does anyone have a copy of "The Murder of Mary Phagan" in their basement? Just tried to find a copy on the NET.  WOW! maybe the price is a reflection of the demand for Kevin Spacey pics. (I don't think I'm alone).

Well, I did not even know that Mary Phagan had been murdered!

Yeah, we missed you Jason! I had the open brisket of beef sandwich. After we ate, and Elmore and MBarnum headed for their show, Jose and TPunk and I went to Edgar's for dessert. I had the chocolate velvet boule or something like that. It was good stuff.
