Shakalaka: When are you supposed to go to the nakey beach?
Yes, Jason, he is our Ravenal. We will be here until 7/31. Admittingly, not normally what you would think of as a Ravenal physically, but he's doing a great job. I can't tell you how nice it is to go to work to do a show that you're proud of, with people you enjoy working with (the whole cast) and whom you respect (90% of the cast). He is however, not a fan of having his name on the internet; let's call him BD

VCR: A tape for DR Jason of various TLC programs.
Ha, ha! Well, I guess it is on Saturday if we go. Frankly, or even Stevely, I would prefer we go to the regular beach! But (butt) we will see what we will see, or something like that! LOL!
For ME? You're gonna force me to go out and get a new VCR, aren't you? Thank you so much! You spoil me with my TLC videos. I may have to take them with me to Louisville next week so I can just sit and watch all day long. Of course, my parents have cable, so I could just watch THAT all day long, too.
Oh, the food I plan to eat when I get home. Chik-Fil-A, Moby Dick fish (yes, it's a real place), O'Charley's (how I love their yeast rolls), mom and dad's homemade fried chicken. It's so not on my diet, but...yuuuuuuuumy!
My parents make the most incredible spreads of food you could possibly imagine. I'm sure that for my arrival-night dinner we'll have fried chicken, mashed potatoes with homemade gravy, green beans, homemade creamed corn, sauteed carrots, homemade biscuits and possibly some broccoli casserole.
Anyway, for the middle “eh” sound in Penny, substitute “aw” and you have Panni.
I don't think I've ever had homemade fried chicken. :(
Happy Birthday, DR Laura II!

I am just exhausted today from last night’s par-tay. What excitement. What food. What conversation. What lampshade?
Jason, is BD aware that you are no longer the leading man type that he knew at Buck’s County, but that you are now living in New York as an attractive African-American woman?
TCB, sometimes your posts just make my day! Of course when laughing comes out of my cubicle my co-workers give me odd looks!
My dad tends to skillet-fry rather than deep-fry. And he generally only fries breasts and tenderloins. Skillet frying tends to not be so greasy. He always uses Crisco vegetable oil and lays the chicken out on paper towels to soak up the excess oil. Of course, he used to the international quality control manager for Kentucky Fried Chicken, so he does chicken right!
The only thing I liked better was meat loaf...And the next day, a meatloaf sandwich.
I've heard of Corn Flake Chicken. It sounds tasty.
One of my favorite things that my grandmother makes is this incredible broccoli casserole using cream of mushroom soup, Velveeta (the cheese that's made to melt) and ritz crackers or saltines. Either way, it's AMAZING! Of course it's a heart-attack waiting to happen, but it's fantastic.
Mbarnum says "I used to make a meatloaf roll that had spinach in it."
I make a meatloaf made of ground chicken breast that has a sausage rolled into the middle. It's delish.
Oh, my gosh, that sounds fabulous.
DR George: My mom and I prepare our meatloafs (meatloaves?) on a broiler pan for that same reason...it makes it much less greasy. I've noticed up here that everyone has brown gravy with their meatloaf. We've never done meatloaf with a brown gravy...we've always used ketchup or some sort of tomato sauce. Is that weird to most of you, or is ketchup a pretty standard meatloaf accoutrement?
My sister's "secret" way to cook meatloaf is that she cooks it on a pan like this:
so that the fat and grease drip away from the meatloaf while it cooks. It really does make for a better meatloaf!
I have never been to an estate sale. What is it like? And are most people just regular people? Or are many of them looking to resell the stuff they buy?
Well, Jennifer, all I can say is that I will be having Chinese food tomorrow afternoon. There is a wonderful Chinese buffet a couple of miles from the house, and I eat there for lunch almost every Saturday afternoon.

What is an adult happy meal?
My new favourite quote:
For all those would-be screenwriters who feverishly clutch their Syd Field or worship at the shrine of Robert McKee or some other guru who has never written a successful screenplay. Who constantly ask stupid questions about character arcs and how long should a script be and on what page Act One should end on...this one's for you...
"If you can't write a play without being taught - don't!"
--George Bernard Shaw--
they got passes to THE NOTEBOOK instead. They both said it was absolutely wonderful--a beautiful film. I guess we'll see...Directed by Nick Cassavetes and his mom is in it. She's always good. But I'm not sure it's my cuppa. I might do it as a mother-daughter thing when Rachel comes back from San Diego. She's reading the book now and will probably want to see it.
For fried chicken recipes, you can go to: http://www.americastestkitchen.com/search.asp or http://southernfood.about.com/library/rec98/bl80517h.htm. I love America's Test Kitchen and their food seems to turn out incredibly well, so I'd go with their recipes, which also includes an oven-fried chicken.Chicken in my house growing up was most always of this oven-fried variety. Pretty decent, but just not quite the same as the real stuff. :D
My mom has a recipe for an INCREDIBLE orange Bundt cake that uses orange juice and pudding in the batter. Then, when the cake is still in the pan and warm, you pour an orange juice-based sauce on and let it soak in. It is the most dense, moist cake I've ever eaten and I love it, love it, love it.My favorite cake is just like this, except lemon instead of orange. Can you say "yummilicious?" I knew you could.

Matt: Thanks for the cake talk! Now I'm going to have to bake when I get to Louisville. My mom has a recipe for an INCREDIBLE orange Bundt cake that uses orange juice and pudding in the batter. My family also enjoys strawberry cakes made with the Duncan Hines cake mix and covered in strawberry icing. Geez...now I wanna go have some cake!
Has anybody else noticed all of the chicken sites at the top of this page? Do you think we could all pick a word and use it on the next page, and see how long it takes for the sites to change??? I can think of some fun words to use.
Jose - Just wanted to tell you that I always enjoy reading your posts. Your "Singing in the Rain" post was exceptionally good!
Ha, ha! Well, I guess it is on Saturday if we go. Frankly, or even Stevely, I would prefer we go to the regular beach! But (butt) we will see what we will see, or something like that! LOL!Oh, go and have a good time, you lucky stiff!
Let me get this perfectly straight: Last post two hours ago? As Mr. Jack Benny would say, "Well." Not that it matters, since yesterday was so amazing, but it does have the smell of WUSSBURGER about it.
DR SWW, it is funny that you got asked to make the food again. I suppose it's just easier than making it herself.I have indeed been asked to bake cookies. Tollhouse. The darling DIL (Daughter in law) has asked me to not include nuts. But apparently she and the SIL liked the cookies; it was the kids at the party who didn't like them.
I know she was incredibly rude. But I think I would try again. I mean someone has to be the bigger person. But this time, like DR Jane said, I would try to get advice on what ingredients they don't like. And also, I would try to dumb down the recipes (just use the basic ingredients). They would probably like it better. Good luck!
Oh, if only I had a picture of our set for TITANIC, then you could see what a cheesy "boat" set looks like.If it was Swiss cheesy, I can understand why it sunk!
Can you guys explain exactly what the "sides" are?French fries and cole slaw.
Thanks.
If it was Swiss cheesy, I can understand why it sunk!
READING: The Guinness Dictionary of Theatrical Quotations.Oh, poor Bonnie L! (Who later showed up on Dr. Who as one of the good Doctor's companions.)
A couple of Noel Cowards:
"Two things should be cut -- the second act and that child's throat." Coward after seeing GYPSY in London with its vivacious child star Bonnie Langford.
Coward took an earlier slam at Langford when she was three and was in the stage production of GONE WITH THE WIND where the horse famously defecated heavily onstage:
"There's nothing wrong with that show that shoving the child up the horse's arse won't cure."
Of course I think the summer of 45 was a much better one than that of 42. (Summer Me Winter You).
Okay now I feel deprived!Oh, what a leading question! Does anyone here expect me to NOT come up with something from my favorite food guru, Alton Brown?
Where can I find a good fried chicken recipe where I don't need to deep fry it. Or is there no point in me trying this if I have no clue what I'm doing.
What is an adult happy meal?Where is TCB when we need him?
DR George: I knew McD's was giving out the stepometre thingies. But I had never heard the term Adult Happy Meal before.Again, where's TCB?
I think they should have the little toys in them. Adults like toys too! :)
Again, where's TCB?
Nobody has gotten into your account. These jerks just harvest e-mail addresses and send out whatever they want. It's awful and there's nothing to be done about it except forward them with the complete HEADERS to abuse@aol.com (or whoever they suggest you sent them to). If you look at the "show details" part of the e-mail, you'll see that they were not generated from you at all.
Just watched Paycheck, which Tammy Minoff recommended to me. Anyone else see it? I hadn't even heard of it (apparently it was a Christmas release and it bombed).
Woody, I saw Bonnie all grown up in Cats. She was so damned perky, you could have cut her throat and shoved her up a horse's arse even then.Yep, that sure sounds like Bonnie on Dr. Who.
