Favorite golden age westerns:

BONANZA (the earlier seasons)

BUFFALO BILL JR

FRONTIER DOCTOR (wish more episodes would get released)

NORTHWEST FRONTIER

THE MONROES

CHEYENNE

I don't remember Frontier Doctor.  I put volume 1 on our NetFlix queue.
I wish more episodes of Buffalo Bill Jr. would be released.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed FRONTIER DOCTOR. Very good storylines, I thought. And yes, I wish more episodes of BUFFALO BILL JR would be released, also.

Glad to see you back DR TCB. Sorry about the computer. You and I both need to start backing our stuff onto one of those 'internet" backup systems like DR JMK uses.

Topic of the Day:

Alias Smith and Jones
Bonanza (I don't remember this very well, but I remember that I liked it)
Here Come the Brides (okay, it's not really a western, but I don't care ;))
Wild, Wild West (not the movie)

And now, I'm leaving work.  It turns out that last night WAS work time, so I'm 2.5 hours ahead!  Leaving now will only use up one hour, so I'm still an hour and a half ahead. :D

Until later!

I'm sure I'm not the first person to mention (or ever realize) this, but:

I just finished watching the 1946 version of THE KILLERS, and I noticed that the music theme for "the killers" (Williiam Conrad & Charles McGraw) is the same 4 notes that later became the opening theme for DRAGNET (i.e. dum da dum dum).

TOD:

I suppose Bonanza because the whole family watched it.  My aunt thought that it was inappropriate for my sister to watch, for some reason!

I believe the Portland date is 11/13 and I'm hoping that our denizens up that way will be there.

Rehearsal was very good - some tempo problems that I fixed, and it was difficult with one missing cast member, but I had Laura Wolfe cover her songs and she did a great job.

Speaking of the missing cast member, I've not heard a peep.  Hopefully, her nine o'clock flight got off on time and she'll be back in LA at midnight.  If it was me, of course, and I'd had to do this to someone, I would have texted from the plane that I was on my way home - that would have been the courteous thing to do.  But, that's me.

I'm meeting Doug Haverty for some soup at Jerry's.  The cold weather makes me feel iffy so some chicken soup should do wonders.  I'm also a little overtired.  Then I'll come home, finish a motion picture on Blu and Ray, write the notes, and get to bed early.

You can always text her at midnight and ask if she got home ok ;)  Really, text her and ask to text back when she is safely home.

So weird - I was working on a really goofy parody of BRANDED about the big party for Senator Gillibrand being discussed on the NY Times blog, when Cilla's link to the BRANDED theme came up.

Thanks for the link, Cilla!

If BK arrives on 11/12, we will have a partay for him chez nous.  Folks are welcome to sleep overnight here and we can find fun stuff to do on Saturday before BK's Q&A.

A lot of incredibly dangerous stuff happened to people on F TROOP and the laugh track seemed to find it very funny.

I loved the William Lava theme to F TROOP.
