Our weather has cooled to the low 70s. Perfect, as far as I'm concerned, but very fall-ish, not at all August-ish. Much better sleeping weather.

Coping vibes to DR Ginny.

I find going through the loved one's things one of the most difficult. So many memories. I know you went through much of that when your mother moved into the assisted living home, and the rest the other day. Now that task is done.

It will get easier with time.

Thank you, DR Jeanne.  Mom has been downsizing gradually for about 7 years, so it's been easier for us than for someone who has to clear out a lifelong family home.  There's still a bit of stuff here, more going to Michigan and Illinois, and a lot was left behind for the thrift shops at the retirement community.

I have received news today that my nephew is coming from Michigan after all and my cousin is coming from Georgia.  The most stunning news, though, is that the daughter of some longtime family friends (both now deceased) is coming from northeast Ohio.  Mom would be so pleased.

That sounds quite wonderful...taking something off the shelf, having it seem new, and finding you like it!

It's partly because it's no longer in my 1975  "proper" handwriting!

I'm fond of handwritten scores, but it's incredible what that boy can do in Finale!    :)

Had a very good run-through with Robert - he's learning how to pace himself during the act and how to breathe, two very important things.  I only had a few notes and a couple of adjustments.

Then it was an exhausting work session with Lanny and Richard Allen.  In Levi, there are a series of sung letters that the lead character writes.  I added several of them to make it a runner, but the two that were actually in the show each had different music.  I really did not like the opening letter's music, the first music and singing we hear in the show, because it was in a minor key and sounded like a rabbi doing Yom Kippur or something.  The letter that I now have opening act two (it used to come later than that) had completely different music in a major key - after struggling with this minor thing for ten minutes, I made the decision that all the letters will use the major key music.  All the lyrics scan correctly for either the major or the minor and now I'm finally happy with the way the show will open.  Lanny had some good ideas, too.  Richard had done on his own an arrangement of the song I wrote with Richard but I'd seen the sheet music already and knew it wasn't right - so I'd done my own over the last few days and played that and they both really liked it and Lanny improved it in a couple of places.

Finished watching Oklahoma! After the weekend's events, it was something that I felt right internally. It was the right prescription for patriotism, now as it was in the 40s.

Robert Fairchild was wonderful as Will. I watched him in An American in Paris but he didn't impress me there like he did here. And Nathaniel Hackman was in fine voice as Curly.

I called my doctor today since they called me Friday to tell me I would have surgery to have my port installed on WEDNESDAY and my infusion was supposed to start on TUESDAY.

That office was surprised and said they would get back to me.

NOW I will have my surgery on Wednesday morning to put in the port and then have my first chemo infusion at 1 p.m. the same day.....at the hospital in Indy...although the further treatments will take place in Mooresville.....my Home Town.

The doctor didn't want to wait another week to start, and they were not sure I would be able to get down HERE from the hospital in time for the treatment to be done....I guess it's four to five hours including the observation time.

So WEDNESDAY will be a very LONG day for me....and my driver.

Wow I am surprised. When I had my port put in it was an all day affair and I needed to wait a week before they would use it.  They must have improved techniques
