TENDER TERRITORY

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were tender and territorial, and now it is time for you to post until the tender cows come home.

I really enjoyed NEXT TO NORMAL, Ben---thanks for the recommendation.

The only odd thing was, they used a different actress for the daughter after the second half. I thought the original one was terrific---wonderful voice. If there was something wrong, you sure couldn't tell. Maybe she had another obligation. It just seemed odd to change horses in midstream and I wondered if that's kind of a normal thing for Broadway, when you have to commit so much of your life to doing shows 6 days a week.

Good morning, all! The alarm went off at 6:30 and I've been downloaded the new Ohio Light Opera recording of MLLE MODISTE into my iTunes. It's a typical Ohio Light Opera production: moderately well sung, moderately acted, but performed rather seriously, which I prefer to the camped up, tarted up productions that Robert Hohanson used to direct for Papermill and the City Opera. There's a little too much false giggling from the young ladies of the cast, so far.

Today, a day at Encores!, helping Joshie with two numbers. I think that around 9 am I will walk down to the City Center. I should be there by 9:45 or so.

Amy, glad you enjoyed it. Something must have happened during the first act for the actress to not appear in the second act. She may have gotten sick or hurt herself in some way. That's what the standbys are for. If something happens grab the actress covering the role and shove 'em out!

DR edisaurus - Did they make an announcement as the intermission ended? or did the new actress just "appear"?

*Although, going with the theme of the show, maybe it was the same actress, and... Well... ;)

However...

I wonder if Jennifer Damiano was/is dealing with the current malady-du-jour - well, malady-du-week - that's been going around lately.  I know that Hair has had a couple of mid-show - some mid-act! - replacements going on due to latest round of the stomach bugs.

Psst... 8 shows.

Although, a 6-show week seems to be easier for some actors and actresses to negotiate now than before.

The new computer is back in the box - I should probably get a job packing at the HP factory - and it will be returned sometime today.

I do not think I will be traveling to Greencastle today for the DWTPCS rehearsal, so I will be behind somewhat, but I will catch up.

Glad you enjoyed the show!  The odd thing is that on one of the theater chat boards, it was reported that it was Alice Rpley who was replaced mid show that day, saying that she was losing her voice through the first act and couldn't continue for the second.

It's a bit jarring to have a different actor playing the second act.  It doesn't happen very often, but it does from time to time.  It always involves actor illness or injury that arises or worsens during the first half.  It is never because of scheduling or prior obligations.  If it is known in advance that an actor could not finish a performance, the understudy or standby would go on from the beginning.

As for the Topic of the Day...

Off the top of my head...

Shirley Temple
The whole "Our Gang" and "Little Rascals" crew
Henry Thomas in "E.T." -And it still amazes me that that other kid did not get edited out - or the scene re-shot - "I love you, E.T."
Salvatore Cascio - "Cinema Paradiso" and "Everybody's Fine"

Other than having to buy a new printer/scanner/fax combo unit when I switched to Vista, I have thoroughly enjoyed my HP laptop computer, so I'm sorry you've been disenchanted with your DR JRand.

Now, Windows 7 may be an entirely different ball of wax. I have no intention of getting it until I get a new computer several years down the line. Until then, I'm enjoying this HP I bought last August very much.
