Oh, Jane, sorry you had to take *that* into consideration when you were going on an airplane.  Seems to me that I didn't start dressing down to fly until I had Rob with me.  First time we flew together he was 6 months old and I took him to Phoenix to meet my aunt and uncle while my mom was out there visiting (before she moved out there).

I still do have to worry about it.  I'm much better now & has been a long time since I've been that sick.  Thank goodness!!!

I'm amazed when I see women all dressed up to fly, especially when they have children with them.  I keep reading it is important to wear good shoes that tie securely when flying, in case you have to make an emergency exit.   I often see women wearing very flimsy sandals, forget the flight how do they manage running through an airport to catch a connecting flight ;)

As for shoes: With the TSA requiring everyone to take their shoes off now, most(?) people have switched to wearing loafers, sandals, flip-flops, espadrilles, etc., when flying.  Just speeds things up on both sides of the security screening.

I don't want to walk on those floor barefoot-lol.  I have worn shoes that are easier to take off & put back on, still prefer trekking the airports in my good running shoes.

Speaking of inappropriate dress, I was amazed at how some of the people were dressed at the conference.  Now I know that even business dress codes have relaxed a bit, but I don't think  :o cleavage is suitable for this particular profession.

And I'm back, when I should be programming the keyboard for tomorrow's LSOH rehearsal.  4th time through, you'd think I know what it needs to sound like.  Then the creative bone takes over....

Some of us simple folk need to work  just to pay the bills and some of  we very lucky ones have retired parents living in the neighborhood to collect the child after school until she is old enough to com e home on her own

Re the Sondheim article - Ithink it wpould depend on the kids- obviously these kids had no interest tinteh material or had not been given an introduction to it prior to the show

The Vixte's musical theater teacher plays OCRs or show dvd s of shows to the kids bedfore taking them to see the shows -  geberally they have been appreciative audiences when I have been with them - unlike the cretins I shared the audience with last Saturday

And one for DR MBarnum

You beat me to the punch! :)

Although I will certainly go to see this movie, one wonders why they would make it...as a play, it is unique...but as a movie, well you could find hundreds of films just like this already having been made in India.

...but as I said, I will certainly go see it (but oh, how I would love to see the stage version!)

So...

For those DRs in Los Angeles... Apparently the earth just moved out there again.  Did you feel anything?

Well, this is a very good boy who's mother stays home all day with him then works online as a medical transcriptionist at night.  He has manners, is kind and is the happiest kid I've ever seen

Until I found some of these old tapes for the rare tracks CD I'd completely forgotten about Truly Married, which, as stated, I wrote for a friend of a friend's wedding.  I thought it would be a unique gift.  When I played it I thought it was really nice - in fact, it took me aback because I wasn't even thinking about it like it was something I'd written - I just thought it was a simple, eloquent song.  I may stick it on the next Guy Haines CD, newly recorded.

I'm in Wisconsin with my parents.  We came to visit my nephew and his family.  Gabe is just the cutest kid. I may be biased, but he didn't fuss all day, smiles, dances, says please and thank you and is a joy to be around

I don't understand how Someone special didn't become a hit in the 70's it was a perfect fit to the music soundtrack of my high school and college years!

Thanks Vixmom.  It's a short visit and my nephew is going to end up working all weekend so we won't see him much, which I feel sorry for him about, but we're having a good time

Alas, I guess I should have asked for travel vibes for my youngest brother earlier today. He's stranded in Dallas overnight due to storm-related delays and cancellations.  On the bright side, he was able to get a flight into Dulles tomorrow afternoon instead of into DCA tomorrow night.  Hopefully, the skies will be friendlier tomorrow.

I purchased some solar lights last week and set them up in the back yard amongst the hostas.  They work much better than I had thought they would and  I think they are very pretty!

Plus, I just discovered the HOA left us off of the neighborhood garage sale tomorrow, so my chances of unloading all this S*** is nil.  In the good news department. one of the young guys who helped shlep this enormous Hitachi projection unit out of the basement (it took 5 big, burly guys and they were all straining, let me tell you) decided he wanted it, so that's good news.
