He is the grandson of MacDonald Carey.

MacDonald Carey was in TAMMY AND THE DOCTOR, which was shown on AMC yesterday.  His grandson was destined to win.

So many great Harry Warren songs. Many have been named, but here are a few more eccentric choices which I dearly love:

"Chattanooga Choo-Choo"
"About a Quarter to Nine"
"This Heart of Mine"
"The Stanley Steamer Song"
"Zing a Little Zong"
"That's Amore"
"You WOnderful You"
"Happy Harvest"

Since MEDIUM is preempted tonight, I have fewer shows than usual that will need recording. Nice to give to poor old DVR a break once in awhile.

Note to those who may be recording things tonight:

President Bush is addressing the nation at 8 p.m. which may likely throw shows off their intended time slots. Be advised to add some recording time if you can when planning what you're going to record tonight.

I have two hours of shows from last night to watch today, but otherwise, I haven't a clue yet which DVDs I'll pull out to watch today. Maybe something like THEATER OF BLOOD.

I just checked and saw that Tivo has yet to take Bush's address into account in its scheduling.  It still shows that The King of Queens and How I Met Your Mother are running at 8:00 to 9:00.  If everything gets bumped an hour, I'll miss recording New Christine.  But then that will clear up Tivo to record the Judy Garland By Myself documentary on TCM.

Now I understand why some people own two Tivos.

On Saturday morning I woke the girls at 9:30 am and made breakfast for them.. then one mother came and picked up her DD and I delivered another to her home environment... then my dear niece (not the one DR Jose so kindly feted, but her younger sister) and the Vixter & I went to meet my parents and my brother , SIL and the other two nieces for a Pre- Mother's Day lunch at the local Applebees

Vixdad stayed home awaiting the new stove

Lunch was wonderful and afterwards, since the weather was finally fine, the Vixter and I went out so she could finally try out her new 21 speed Schwinn bicycle... her birthday present from her dad & I.

Alas, no stove ever arrived, just an automated phone call from Sears stating that our delivery was scheduled for Sunday afternoon....

SUNDAY!?  Whoda thunk it... but arrive it finally did on Sunday....

Unfortunately they don't install so Vixdad (whose Dad is a chartered electrical engineer and passed on his knowledeg to his son) hardwired the stove into the electrical system.. unfortunately it took several hours and two trips to Home Depot... so we wern't actually able to cook on said stove... so Mother's Day dinner consisted of Chinese Takeout.. which was very good however!!

And that is where I have been!!

Instead of recording, I plan on reading a book.

I can't wait for tonight's season finale of Grey's Anatomy.  Last night's episode was great and when it was over I was jumping around without anyone to talk to.  I was so glad to see that I didn't have to wait very long for the conclusion.

Supposedly, the address will last 20 minutes. DOn't know if networks will then start their shows right after, take it to the half hour and then start, or do 40 minutes of commentary and then start their shows.

I read that ABC has moved the Oprah "Legend's Ball" special to NEXT week rather than postpone its starting time tonight.

That superb Judy Garland: By Myself documentary is on the EASTER PARADE DVD set, by the way, as a bonus feature.

Oh my gosh!  Then I already have it.  Easter Parade was part of the Classic Musicals collection from last year.  I only watched the "Mr Monotony" number on the second disc.

Thanks for reminding me, DR Matt.  That makes things a little simpler for tonight's recordings.

You're welcome!  Glad I could help! :)

I had forgotten it was in that set myself until someone reminded me a month or so ago. I immediately took it out and watched it.

Horrible night....house too warm...no breeze....unable to get comfortable (totally NOT the norm for the Bay Area which, more and more, is having more extremes in weather than "norms" in weather).

Had to turn on the AC and wait for things to cool down.  Finally drifted off a little after 2 a.m.  Up at 7 a.m. and, hopefully, I'll sail through the day.

I, potentially, have jury duty this week.

Won't know until tomorrow evening as my report date is May 17th, with call-in requirements for tomorrow after 5 p.m.

Them hackers is everywhere!!!

Quote
TORONTO - A mocking announcement about Canada's prime minister, "Stephen Harper Eats Babies," was flashed on electronic advertising signs on Toronto area commuter trains for several days, and technicians were still scrambling Tuesday to get the signs fixed.

"Stephen Harper Eats Babies. Stephen Harper Eats Babies. Stephen Harper Eats Babies," started to appear every three seconds across some LED screens late last week. The signs usually carry transit updates and advertising spots.

"It appears that this was a case of electronic vandalism," said Stephanie Sorensen, corporate communications and media specialist for the GO Transit commuter system. "We assume it was a hacker. We haven't identified the person who did this, but we're working closely with the contractor who runs the signs to fix the problem."

Screens on GO Trains have been shut down since Monday. Sorensen said she expects they will remain off line for a few more days until password-protected technology is installed to protect them from computer hackers.

"We regret that it happened, and we're sorry if anybody was offended, including the prime minister," Sorensen said.

I love that it took "several days" before anyone though to shut it down!!

I have a little list

Quote
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - A high school teacher has apologized for asking students to write about whom they would kill and how they would do it, and officials said he will likely keep his job.

Michael Maxwell, who teaches industrial technology at Central High School, said his request that students in his beginning drafting class describe how they would carry out a murder was merely a writing prompt. It was not clear why he asked the drafting class to write fiction.

Perhaps they were studying The Mikado?

I watched TALES OF HOFFMAN all the way through yesterday.  Beautiful movie....have to see it again to figure it out, but I liked it.  The 13-minute SORCEROR'S APPRENTICE didn't include the MOST famous, or at least the most familiar to me, piece of music and so I was disappointed with it.

Got my three VHS set of the Samarai trilogy with Mr Mifune today.  DR MBARNUM sent me part one last week, so I will be perusing the other two parts sometime today.

Well I also got the new cast recording of THE PAJAMA GAME.  I guess i have been listening to the OBC too long....the orchestrations on the new disk sound a bit T H I N.  And where did they get the three NEW songs?  Were they cut from the original show?  Were they written for the revival?  Are they really really really necessary?  I would have to see the show to figure that out, but they sure stop the CD cold!!!

I have mixed feelings about the whole thing right now.
