Never give up Hope.
Hope floats.

Or was that Sorrow. (a "Hotel New Hampshire" reference.)

DR MBarnum - The Ebb Tide shall eventually reach your shores.  Time needed for exploration and discovery. I'll probably be overcome by waves of nostalgia - Earl Grant, The Platters and Martin Denny are starters.

Perhaps the NW gang will post and tell us all about their individual and collective ice-cream indulgences.

It's nearly lunch time here in OZ. Visitors are expected (with lunch for the aged and infirm) so I shall return later - with a flurry of posts if necessary BK.

Mention of MBarnum and he appears magically - or was he just left by the outgoing tide.

It will be a pleasure Michael - just being able to do it (associated bending and searching through boxes etc) will be a joy. A couple of weeks yet I think.

Is this a slow news day here at haineshisway.com?  How ever will we reach our new plateau?

I'm back from seeing Quilters and having dinner (and I've caught up with all the posts).  I'm very happy to report that the show was wonderful!  I loved it the first time I saw it and this church group (thankfully) cast some very good performers.  They were all fairly strong actors/singers.  It was a small audience...only about 150 or so (in a theater that seats 988!), but they loved it.  The very simple set of just a frame of a house up center with the band behind that and two little platforms on each side brought the action down front and close to the audience.  The staging was very effective and there never seemed to be any parts that dragged.  The energy level was up during the whole show.  It was a very enjoyable two+ hours. ;D

It's almost 11 p.m. here on the East Coast, and I can't believe the day is almost over. Amazing how fast it's flown by. I didn't quite get to the end of 8 1/2 (grand Criterion job on the film), but cut it off to see COLD CASE, Mario Cantone's LAUGH WHORE, and QUEER AS FOLK.

Those three hours of HDTV flew by like they were 20 minutes.

Obviously Billy Crystal is going to win the Tony for Outstanding Theatrical Experience for 700 SUNDAYS, but what do you want to bet that Mario wins the Emmy this year for Individual Performance in a Variety Special?

And now Elmore3003 is here also, and I am sure he will have several amusing things to post about as well.

Never give up hope!

DRMBarnum, how are you?  Did I help you out today?  God knows I tried!

I've just finished my GOLDEN APPLE work for the day, and I'm very tired.  I have to do a warm sitzbath and hit the bed soon.  I went out for a bit, and there was a street fair on Broadway between 79th and 86th Streets, which I think DRsDanise, Jane, Ginny, and MBarnum, if he ever gets to NYC, would love.  I bought 12 pairs of socks for $$14.00 and two nice pillows to replace two old ones for $10.  I came home, made some yummilicious tuna salad, finished my work, and here I am.

More news from the (obviously) cursed production of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES I'm going to be opening in this week: yesterday, the director dropped a weight on his foot and he found out today when his foot started turning black that he broke his big toe on his right foot.

And the hits just keep on comin' . . . .

Oy, DR Matt.  Maybe y'all should do Macbeth instead.

Penny just called.  We had a long conversation and she is doing well.  She says hi to everyone.

TCB & Jed she is planning a trip home in June and wants very much to see your show.  Don’t be surprised if she shows up for a matinee one day.  I just wish I could be there with her.

Jane, both Jed and I wish you could come see the show, but we certainly understand when that isn't possible.  However, it would be wonderful to finally get to meet Penny, though.

I thought AGYG was having a few problems leading up to opening night.  However, after reading all of Matt H's posts in recent weeks regarding LA CAGE, our show is looking more and more like a real beauty (but then, Beauty was a horse).

After rehearsal, DS Jed, the always charming Ann, and I went for Sunday ice cream.  I would say where the three of us went, but since we seem to be the only three people here who like this place, we shall just leave at that.

Anyway, in addition to eating some tasty ice cream, we spent a couple of hours dishing the dirt about rehearsals, discussing various parental figures, and commenting on the fact that my college girlfriend ended up marrying (or Marying) my favorite drama professor.

Both Ann and Jed know my former girlfriend, but only as my professor's wife, and not as my former girlfriend.  I think they just enjoy seeing the shocked expression on my face every time the subject gets brought up.

Watching a most wonderful film - and shockingly, it's not an older film, it's from last year.  More in a bit.

And, we've achieved our new plateau - 120,000 postings!  Now, all we need is not to hit a new low.

When we got home, we found this handsome fella, quite at home on our sofa. He must have come through the pet door. We don't know who he belongs to:
