DR GEORGE congratulations on the ABC'ing of your musicals.  It is so practical!  Which letter do you have the  most of?

I think the J's and S's are my most numerous....though the T's are close.

For me, I have a lot of S shows (I include live concert performances such as "Sondheim:  A Celebration," and there are several of those) and shows that start with M.  Go figure.

Der Brucer scoffs whenever I get caught up on our filing, for DVDs and CDs.  And yes, I alphabetize.  He also doesn't appreciate my including opera with the musicals.  Well, it's all staged and acted music, dang it!  They belong together!  Enough of this elitism!

I have only a few operas on CD, "Porgy and Bess," "Suzannah" and "The Man Who Mistook His Wife For a Hat," and I file them all with my musicals.  I also have several jazz recordings of "P&B" (Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, Cleo Laine and Ray Charles, and Mel Tormé's "complete" score) and they're in with the musicals, also.

Next, I watched another episode of FIREFLY which involved a duel (odd that there was a duel in QUEEN CHRISTINA as well)!

A couple of "sayings" from the musical, City of Angels that I love:

"That's a ballgame of a different color"

and

"There won't be a dry seat in the house!"

SWW, I have a question... What is your dog's name that you are holding and what breed is he/she?

The dog is Peggy.  She is a pit bull/boxer mix, brindle in color.  We were fostering her for about a year, and finally found the right home for her, with a teenaged boy ready to help train a dog correctly and a younger boy, aged ten, who needs a buddy.

Peggy came to us as a rescue from the local pound.  They were going to put her and her three pups down because of the pit heritage.  Instead, der B and I were able to take her and the pups in.  Sadly, one of the pups died that first night due to parvo; the other two pups stayed healthy, and we found them good homes fairly quickly.

We were initially reluctant to place Peggy because of a mange problem.  What with the strain of pupbirth and the lack of a home, der B realized that the best thing we could do was give her a stable residence until the mange cleared up.  Fortunately, she got along great with the rest of the dogs (Marty, Mikey, Bonnie, Buster, and Fletcher - yup, five other dogs), and particularly took to Fletcher, the deaf Dalmatian, roughhousing together and sharing toys.

Do we miss her?  Yes, of course, but we're also confident that we placed her well.  If her new family were having problems, we'd have heard by now.  Fletcher went through a moping period, but has started playing with the other dogs now.

And this leaves us open to foster other dogs - before fostering Peggy, we took in a found a new home for a collie named Zeus.  Der B has been threatening to find us a litter of puppies.  Just thinking of having puppies in the house again fills me with giggles.

Greetings from Lestat rehearsal... I wish.
...But I do plan on dropping by rehearsal around 3:00, after the lunch break, and then heading with some of the cast and crew for dinner.  -They mentioned something about all-you-can-eat-ribs, or something like that.  

There's something about heading out for a "bite to eat" with the Lestat cast that, well...

I just hope, friend Jose, if any of them suggests that you "play a vamp," that there's a piano nearby.

I'm thinking more of what it's like to lay down on the floor and getting covered with soft bellies, wagging tails, and very soft, wet kisses.

Okay, all you writer types, I need your help with my Maid of Honor toast for my sister's wedding.  Here is the first draft:

One of the best-loved children's books in the world is "The Little Prince", by Antoine de Saint-Exupery (saN-teg-zu-pa-re').  It is an allegory of love and responsibility that teaches us to honor the mystery of love and life.  "Here is my secret," says the little prince:  "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."  The author himself observed that "Love does not consist in gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction."  It's very rare in our family for all of us to be together in the same room at the same time, so I want you guys to look around and take this moment to appreciate that tonight, you are surrounded by your family and your closest friends, people who love and support you and will be there for you when the waters become rough.  I'm sure you'll get plenty of advice from them, whether you want it or not!  I can tell you from experience that if you ask people "What's the secret of marriage?" you'll get a lot of diverse opinions.
 
I am so honored to be among this group of people, because my sister and I did not really grow up together.  We became close as adults, and now it's hard to imagine that there was ever any time or distance between us.  And when I first saw Amanda and Brent together, it was hard to imagine he hadn't been there all along.  
 
Antoine de Saint-Exupery also wrote "Tell me who admires and loves you, and I will tell you who you are."  I think that tells us everything we need to know about you and about all of the people in this room.  Amanda and Brent, look outward together now and know that you're looking at the people who love you and admire you, and who will share their counsel and their secrets with you; but it is now your happy challenge to discover the secrets of your own marriage.
 
Let's all raise a glass to Amanda and Brent and toast them with these words of wisdom from Ogden Nash:  To keep your marriage brimming, with love in the wedding cup, whenever you're wrong admit it; whenever you're right, shut up.  Cheers!

I don't like the way it starts, I think there are too many quotes with not enough to link them to a point, and I don't like the repetition between the first and third paragraphs, but I can't figure out how to fix it.  

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.
