Well, you've read the notes, the notes were like good onions gone bad, and now it is time for you to post until the good cows gone bad come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BRIGHTWORK!
-
First post after BK.
-
I have never refrigerated a whole onion.

Today the Seattle Seahawks are playing th Oakland Raiders live from Wembley Stadium in London at 10:00 a.m. PDT.

So, I must get some sleep.

Goodnight, George.

Goodnight, George.
Good night, Tom.

From last night:
I know we won't rehearse every night, but having that much time to memorize lines will be MOST helpful!
That is my big fear.
I haven't read the script yet, so I don't know how many lines Santa has, but he does have a big production number called "Up On Santa's Lap." That should be fun! :D
-
Today, I have a union meeting, then I'll do a little props shopping, and probably get something to eat. When I get home, I'll also need to do some laundry and watch some TV. That'll be my day.
-
But first, to bed and to sleep.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I'm ready to winterize my bed since it got so cold last night, but I know that every time I do this this early, we get a period of veryu warm weather and I swelter, so I will wait. Around 2:30 I got up and added a quilt and Annabelle crawled under the covers to stay warm. Thatch bravely slept in the open air next to me. His coat is longer than Annabelle's so it must keep him warmer. We'll see if he changes his mind when the temperatures get down to zero.
-
This morning around 10 I will schlep down to 14th Street to meet our DR KevinH and his friend Paul for brunch. Then I must get back, hopefully finish "Brotherhood of Man," and pay a few bills.
-
My wife and I watched PHANTOM THREAD with Daniel Day-Lewis last night.
Not sure we got what happened at the end.
Any thoughts?
-
Good morning, all.
-
The feline contingent permitted my getting an extra hour of sleep this morning, bless their pea pickin’ little hearts. And that’s just as well, since I was burning the midnight oils last night — which, as I think we all know, requires being up well past midnight. So it all comes out in the wash, but it feels good nonetheless.
-
And now, a post with no clichés.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I need to sit down with the “Addams Family” score today, get it back into my fingers.
I did say I’m playing one performance, right? Just subbing for someone. Friday the 26th, and I play a dress rehearsal on the 23rd. It’ll be fun.
-

I thought it was about a shift of power from Woodcock to his wife. But I may be misremembering it. I found the movie to be, as we say in Texas, all hat, no cattle.
-
Does any cattle... still wear... a hat?

Good morning!

Have fun, you silly kids!! :)
Edit: If I had an ounce of energy, I’d hit the road right now and go crash that brunch. But there’s no way! Some other time.
-
Meeting DR elmore in about 2 hours. My friend Paul comes from California every October and we always look forward to seeing him.
-
Yesterday we saw Summer, The Donna Summer Musical. The performers were terrific, especially LaChanze. Later we saw Pretty Woman, The Musical. Again, I thought the performances were great. Not sure about the music.

Last night I planned to watch the last episode if the BBC miniseries of And Then There Were None. After 15 minutes or so, I decided I hated the production, although the cast was wonderful. I had been feeling that since the first of the three episodes: too many flashbacks, too damned dark too often, the murders were often vaguely shown, and it didn't grab me like the book. I'm not sure I like the BBC's current adaptation policies. I feel they did them better several years ago.
So, I turned it off and wrote a story about Annabelle and Thatch instead.
-
DR DRUXY I didn't make it through the entire film of THE PHANTOM THREAD.....
-
Hmmmm I am like DR TCB....I do not put onions in the fridge unless they are cut in half.....otherwise they are in the pantry.....
-
I also liked the look of the Coral record label.....I thought the ABC Paramount label was pretty nifty as well.....Dot was a nothing....

Winterizing for us is flannel sheets. It is still a bit too warm for them. Since I get colder than Keith does I have an extra thin blanket for my side of the bed. I don't think I will want the extra weight on my arm right now, just like I don't t want extra warmer clothing on it.
-
Thanks for the vibes Tom.
-
DR TCB are you on stage as the narrator or offstage reading?

;D

Same here though ours go into a drawer.
-
Until cut onions are supposed to be stored in a cool dry place, not in the frig, not next to potatoes, and not in an enclosed bag.
-
We are bad about potatoes in the same drawer but make sure they aren't touching.
-
Actually, don't let onions touch anything in storage. I've had other things go bad from that. Don't remember what now, but I make sure there's separation.
-
Good morning.
-
Leonard has made himself at home. The first night he hid under the bed; last night he pounced on my toes.
-
good morning to all
-
Leonard thinks he is home.
-
I always store my cut onions in a closed bag.....DR JANE says no....I do keep it away from other things.....but then I do not know a LOT of food protocols. I have only been in charge of them since July.
-
Today is our theatre Annual Meeting in which we hear all about what we did....I shall take some photos....and I will also get to make my joke when the Upstage Award ceremony begins....
"....or as it's known at my house - Passover....."
-
Leonard thinks he is home.
He knows he’s home.
-
I always store my cut onions in a closed bag.....DR JANE says no....I do keep it away from other things.....but then I do not know a LOT of food protocols. I have only been in charge of them since July.
I don’t know the right way to store cut onions. What I DO, rightly or wrongly, is store them in a closed plastic container in the fridge.

I said "until" cut. Uncut onions don't go in a bag. Cut/open onions go into a container in the frig.
-
Years ago we purchased one of these to store the uncut portion.

We considered getting a red one for red onions but don't use those often enough.
-
Actually, don't let onions touch anything in storage. I've had other things go bad from that. Don't remember what now, but I make sure there's separation.
While our onions are in the same drawer as the potatoes we keep the onions separate and place them in a wire colander.
-
Leonard has made himself at home. The first night he hid under the bed; last night he pounced on my toes.
Awww :)
-
DR JANE my reading comprehension is not good.
-
I shall now be off to the meeting....
Condolences to DR JOHN G on the passing of his friend.
-
Here's a Sunday kind of question for the likes of DR Elmore. It's not of earthshaking importance, but...
This PC score, as far as I know, is what's still sent out. Is it likely the same handwritten copy -- except for the added orchestral cues, and the note about them on the title page (click to enlarge) -- that I would have first seen in the early 1960s? I just wondered because I'm seeing this copy for the first time in years. I've only had my published score to look at, which btw doesn't include "Ballad of Dependency".
-
I'm up, I'm up - six-and-a-half hours of sleep.
-
The good onion gone bad wasn't cut - it was a new uncut onion. That's why I was surprised.
-
DR JANE my reading comprehension is not good.
;D I certainly have had the same problem in the past.
-
The good onion gone bad wasn't cut - it was a new uncut onion. That's why I was surprised.
We know which is why some of us are surprised it was in the refrigerator ;)
-
PAGE THREE DANCE!!

This morning around 10 I will schlep down to 14th Street to meet our DR KevinH and his friend Paul for brunch. Then I must get back, hopefully finish "Brotherhood of Man," and pay a few bills.
Hope you all had a great time!
-
Bruce, I wonder if the uncut onion had not been cold if you would have noticed it smelled off.
-
Actually, don't let onions touch anything in storage. I've had other things go bad from that. Don't remember what now, but I make sure there's separation.
While our onions are in the same drawer as the potatoes we keep the onions separate and place them in a wire colander.
I didn't know about any of these "rules." ::)
-
Traffic is a complete mess today. The bus ride back took me over an hour. It shouldn't have bee more than 40-45 minutes.
-
I had a wonderful visit with DR KevinH and Paul. The breakfast was really really really (as Thatch would emphatically say) good!
-
DR Laura, I think the angels said to Leonard, right over there, little boy; see that house? That's the best place for you, so move your ass.
-
The onion is coming from inside the refrigerator!
-
Condolences to John G.
-
DR ChasSmith, that's the old Tams-Witmark Threepenny Opera score that the Kurt Weill Foundation moved with all the Weill shows to Rodgers & Hammerstein shows. that's the penmanship of my late friend Dale Kugel. Remind me of your question.
-
In my experience it takes a long time for onions to go bad. If they're stored uncut at room temperature, at some point they'll get soft and at that point if you cut you'll see the mold. Stored in the fridge, it's more like they just eventually appear soft and mealy. Even then, in a pinch, they've been edible...if bland.
-
DR ChasSmith, that's the old Tams-Witmark Threepenny Opera score that the Kurt Weill Foundation moved with all the Weill shows to Rodgers & Hammerstein shows. that's the penmanship of my late friend Dale Kugel. Remind me of your question.
And that helps my memory, because Tams-Witmark is what I would have known in the 1960s.
My question was simply whether that same "hand" is what has been out there all these years. I couldn't imagine it would be copied by hand twice, but I'm happy to see that's what it is, and that it's another Dale Kugel.
I also completely forget why "Dependency" wasn't in the published score.
-
Well, I finally need to get ready for my union meeting and some other errands.
Be back later.

The original German vocal score from Universal Edition omitted the song because it was too dirty. It's in the new German edition along with Michael Feingold's English version.

And here we are outside the Good Stuff Diner!
-
Good picture, gents!
-
Sunday afternoon greetings! Fr. Richard assisted this morning and preached a very informative sermon about St. Teresa of Avila. We went out for brunch on the way home. Watching the Cincinnati Bengals and dozing a bit.

Love the photo of DRs Elmore and KevinH!

NO ONIONS IN MY FRIDGE - EVER!
-
Years ago we purchased one of these to store the uncut portion.

I use exactly the same onion storer for my cut onions

Dang why didn't the picture come along for the ride?
-
I was approached by the Pastor last week about throwing a fancy coffee hour today for our beloved Sexton who is leaving us as her husband ( a second career Pastor) was just called to a church in Pennsylvania
-
Since I dearly love Sara I was all for it. I volunteered to contribute 2 cold cut platters . I was told that a cake and decorations and other goodies would be brought by the 2 ladies who brought the idea to Pastor
-
I touched base with the women and was told they would be at church around 7:30 to help me set up
-
I decided yesterday while at BJs picking up the platters to get 100 small croissants , 4 quarts of flavored creamer and some pretty paper plates , napkins and table cloths
-
I arrived at church at 7 and started setting up tables
-
At 7:30 I put out all the tablecloths
-
Then I started decorating the place with the fall. Decor decorations I keep at. Church for such occassions, made some coffee, set up the coffee service table, lined two baskets and arranged the croissants
-
Around 8 one of the ladies showed and she had the cake , brownies , cookies a bouquet for the guest of honor and 5 vases of fresh flowers and she and I finished setting up
-
The other lady never showed at all
-
A third woman just happened to bring 3 dozen bagels so we cut this and put them out.
-
The party was a great success and only about a half lb of Capicola remained
-
But just about everyone buggered off and left yours truly to clean up
-
I left at. 1:30
-
I was happy to do it for Sara but really annoyed by those who said they wanted to throw this soirée and then didn't actually do much.
-
If I had been asked to run thus I would have done do happily, but bring asked to "help" others and then being left to do 90 % on my own ticked me off
-
On a completely ddiffernt subject, I hope Laura has been spending the day alternately cuddling Max and Leonard
-
Damn
-
I just realized I left my good jacket at church , and I hung it on the clothes for the homeless rack..
-
Gotta run and see if I can retrieve it
-
Laters

Does any cattle... still wear... a hat?
I'll drink to that. And one for cattle.

Went to a charity brunch this morning for a young restaurant manager who was in a hit-and-run accident recently. Turns out she had been run over twice and left for dead or for someone to find her. She still faces a number of surgeries but they brought her out to be able to enjoy a little of the party in her honor.
To add to her woes, the hospital she was in decided it no longer wanted to take her insurance, so they kicked her out.
-
The food was exceptional, but the event had been underpublicized, so it wasn't as well attended as I would have liked.
-
Off in a few to usher for someone named Aida Cuervas. She's a mariachi artist who apparently has a large following. I've never heard of her.
-
I start reading Faust Part II this week. I also got a recording of Berlioz's opera from the library and a German film of the story. All I can say is Damnation!
-
Went to Gelson's and got some stuff - came home and made two hamburgers on low-cal buns - very good. Listening to music.
-
Today's disgusting eBay story: I'd had a very rare piece of illustration art up twice - and the second time I lowered the price and put a best offer on it with an accept any offer over the lowest I was willing to go, which was the usual twenty percent under what I was asking. I got an e-mail from a guy - very interested, asking questions, all of which I'd answered. He tells me he wants to make an offer. Great. Auction closes. He e-mails and says he really wants to make an offer but he has to consult with the wife and can I please relist it. I don't really want to at this point, but I do - for three days. Meantime, I get another e-mail from someone else asking questions, which I answer - nothing from him again.
Auction is one hour from finishing this morning. First guy finally makes his offer, which is literally 80% less than I'm asking. I'm surprised he didn't just ask me to give it to him. I countered with my lowest price which was what I had on the Best Offer as well as asking him if he was really serious making an offer like that. Needless to say, he strung me along for two weeks and never upped his stupid offer and the auction closed and I am never relisting it again. I'm also somewhat convinced he was a dealer or gallery and had I sold it to him I guarantee you he would have been asking triple what I was actually asking for it. I've had it. I really though he was going to make me a reasonable offer and it would have certainly made life easier for the next few months. But nooooo.
-
Oh man.
-
And here we are outside the Good Stuff Diner!
Yea, a photo and a nice one it is.
-
I had a wonderful visit with DR KevinH and Paul. The breakfast was really really really (as Thatch would emphatically say) good!
I looked online and the restaurant looks good.
-
I was happy to do it for Sara but really annoyed by those who said they wanted to throw this soirée and then didn't actually do much.
You have every right to be annoyed and I think you should tell them so. While you are at it tell them how many hours a week you work.
-
DR Vixmom I hope you found your good jacket.

OMG once is bad enough, but twice. I am guessing they didn't find the person or people who did this.
I hope she was moved to a good hospital.
-
Vixmom, that's how stuff at my church works, too.
-
DR Laura, do you need me to post the photo?

Leonard:

Does the Goodwill still repair and mend? I doubt it, but I see many things that are reparable.

Re: PHANTOM THREAD
I watched it about a month ago. I enjoyed parts of it, but I came away underwhelmed.

Thanks, Elmore. I couldn't remember how to do it.
With a beautiful face and sweet disposition. A calico would look striking next to Leonard ;)

Our left over onions rarely last long enough to go bad.

That's crap! Is there a local auction house that you could bring it to (if you'd still actually like to sell it)? Or some store where it can be sold on consignment? On Antiques Roadshow, they always say that the retail value is higher than the auction value, and insurance value is higher than retail.

Starting to watch The Brothers Karamazov with Yul Brynner and William Shatner in his first role.
-
I doubt I will get much of it watched tonight. But it seems to be the third Richard Brooks movie I've seen in the last couple of months, quite by coincidence. The other two were Deadline USA and Bite the Bullet.

Another beautiful day here in the Northwest.

Some parts of Western Washington (down Jane’s way) reached 70 degrees.
