Title: PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE
Post by: bk on November 27, 2011, 12:09:08 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes are now in the past, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - the cows will come home in the future, while you post in the present and the future, which will then be the past.  The cows find all of this MOOtaphysical.

Sunday morning greetings!  I saw Fr. Richard off to Lima a little after 7 and I've been puttering ever since.  In an hour or so my cousin Perry and I will leave to join my sister's family and the guest-of-honor to celebrate Mom's 93rd birthday.

Thank you DR JANE and DR CILLA LIZ.....I did NOT see Bunny this morning.  Since it's raining, he may be under the deck or where ever else his home is.  It used to be under the flowering bush in the front yard......which no longer has flowers or leaves, so he has vacated that abode.

Good morning, all! I survived the night, although my lower back is killing me. I spent about an hour debating staying in bed all day or or not. I had several weird dreamds, one involving Joe and Jaston of "Greater Tuna" and another involving the Appalachian stay in Hilton Head. There were more I do not remember now.

As to today, I've got things to work on, but I may jump onto RED MILL for a while, so that everything's ready to be scanned and copied.

Coffee first.

As I mentioned I saw the stage version of Beauty and the Beast yesterday and a  few plot points didn't jump out to me until this morning. (Never thought about them until now even though I've have seen the film many times)

If the castle is in walking distance from the liitle town the quiet village (evident by Belle walking from the castle to see her father) how come no one else knew about it? Was the mirror some kind of magical GPS? Gaston and villagers were able to find it.

If Maurice was lost when he found the castle how did he find his way back to the little town the quiet village?

The Enchantress was a mean ol' b*tch. When she punished the Prince she punished the all occupants of the castle. What did they do to her?

I watched THE STINGIEST MAN IN TOWN last night with Basil Rathbone.

It was a kinescope of a black-and-white 1956 live television broadcast, so the quality of the picture was not the greatest.

The best aspect of the show was the score.  It had several very nice and hummable songs.

The problem(s) with the program is that:

1. In many key roles, they used singers (e.g. Vic Damone)  rather than actors who can sing.
2. The actors, including Rathbone, were giving stage performances.

Still, it was an entertaining 81minutes and I'm glad I finally had an opportunity to see it.

JR, I'm wondering if maybe whoever wrote the date on that FF TV Guide put the wrong year.  If it was December 30, it really should be the flapper cover, not the holly.  I'm thinking maybe it was 1962, not 1961.

Back from breakfast at Cracker Barrel with 9 of my relatives.  We celebrated Mom's 93rd birthday and then dispersed as follows:

My niece taking Gram (my Mom) home to check her grocery list and then head home to Illinois
My sister and her husband to Kroger to shop for what's on said list and deliver it to Mom
My nephew and his girlfriend headed north to their home in Michigan
My cousin headed south to his home in Georgia
My son and daughter-in-law to Meijer in search of bookcases for their new apartment
Me to my home - ALONE!

Could be DR JMK......but the flapper issue was Dec 30 61-Jan 5 62

The previous week is Dec 22- Dec 29, 1961 -  but I will also try to locate the 62/63 issue.

Too bad there's no date on the pages of the layout.

Last week I ordered fresh eggs from my egg lady (who swears she will never kill the chickens).  She mentioned the chickens weren't laying as many eggs as usual with the shorter hours of daylight, however she would find the largest ones for me.  One of those eggs is THREE INCHES LONG!  It looks for like a duck egg.  Keith asked what kind of chicken lays such a large egg.  She didn't know which chicken it is, figure it is an unhappy one.  I thought about making a soft boiled egg but haven't a clue how long to cook it.  Instead I'll scramble it.  She said to expect a double yoke.  From the size triple is more like it.

As for yesterday's Topic of the Day...

The first time I had a Vanilla-Vanilla cupcake at Magnolia Bakery it was a revelation(?). I normally would get Chocolate-Chocolate, Chocolate-Vanilla or Vanilla-Chocolate cupcake, but that first Vanilla-Vanilla was pretty amazing.

I did try a cupcake or two from Sprinkles a few weeks ago, and I have to say that I was truly impressed by the quality of the cake and the frosting, and the balance between them. It was tasting chocolate cake that actually tasted like chocolate rather than "brown".

DR Michael S - RE: DISNEY'S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

-"Be Our Guest" really is/was still a showstopper even after it made the move to the Lunt-Fontanne. What it lacked in numbers, it more than made up in "density".

-I like "A Change In Me", however, that refrain can get quite whiny in the audition room. ::) -It was also added to the OCR. Alas, I think I would have preferred to hear Toni Braxton belt out the song rather than "mix" it.

-And as for the move from The Palace to The Lunt-Fontanne, as FORBIDDEN BROADWAY put it: "Beauty's been decreased." ;)

As for Christmas cards...

If anyone plans on sending me one, be sure to ask me for my new mailing address.

But will you promise to keep the new address long enough to receive the card?

Oh!

I finally discovered that someone had uploaded the Julie Andrews TV Special, "One Step Into Spring" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9-f808BI34&sns=em) to YouTube. Part 3 includes her solo rendition of "At the Ballet"(!?!?!).

But, of course!

Of course, just because you send a card doesn't mean I will open the envelope. ;)

Jane, stupid question, probably; but when you sent cards, did you send Christmas, Hanukkah, or both?

I only sent Chanukah cards to those who celebrate it.  Sometimes I sent generic holiday cards, other times Christmas, but not religious, cards.  My shoulders have taken the fun out of doing cards.  I'm sure you can appreciate this.  I sent close to 150 cards every years having moved so often.

I finished the last of the leftovers today.  Tomorrow I must eat lighter.  Of course the delicious matzos brie with carmalized apples Keith made for breakfast didn't help.

Well, I've been home all day doing nothing but watching TV.  I haven't even taken a shower yet.  However, I must take a shower now.

Actually, one non-TV-watching thing that I've done is remove all the science experiments from my fridge. ::) I now have dishes soaking in bleach water...finally.

And that's been my day.

We had a nice rehearsal with Melody, Dan Callaway, Kim Huber, and Alet.  Then I went to Gelson's and got several little things from the deli there - chicken pasta (not so good today), stuffing, mac and cheese, and a couple of small vegetable egg roles.  That was my meal o' the day.

Did they use Susan Egan's version of the song? Hers is incorporated into my B & B recording

My friends in Glendale basically re-celebrated Thanksgiving earlier tonight. She cooked up a turkey breast, warmed up some leftover side dishes and made a few new ones. There were three of us at the table. Needless to say, she has leftovers for the week, and we all have very happy tummies. ;)

They used Toni Braxton's version. Although, they have re-packaged that recording so many times now, so who knows... -And wasn't it eventually added to the movie too (on DVD)? ???
