I spent thursday and friday upstate near Lake George attending a conference for work. It's certainly strange to see the people you work with out of context.
And the word of the day is: LOUCHE!
TOD - My cheesy potatoes, which start with frozen hash browns. You add cream cheese, cream of celery soup, a little onion and bake. Top with shredded cheddar cheese right before serving. Yum.Oh wow, that sounds quite yummy! *writes it down on a post-it note*

Salt-and-pepper potatoes. These are potatoes cut up into large chunks, skin on, then sautéed---probably in olive oil--- with some onions and red and green peppers as well as the aforementioned condiments. I don't know how they do it but the outside skin is crispy and the inside is tender. Dangerous stuff!
Fried Potatoes
russet potatoes with skins
salt
pepper
garlic powder
olive oil
chopped onion
chopped bell pepper
Scrub potatoes well. Slice potatoes with curly fry cutter. Rinse potatoes with water. Drain. Add potatoes to heated oil in frying pan. Cook on medium high heat until potatoes start to cook. Cover. Cook on low for about 45 minutes to 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Add bell pepper and onion, last 5 minutes of cooking. Cook until peppers and onions are tender and potatoes are nicely browned.

A cowboy from Texas stopped at a local cantina following a day of drinking and roaming around in Mexico.
While sipping his tequila, he noticed a sizzling, scrumptious looking platter being served at the next table. Not only did it look good, the smell was wonderful.

After a few bites, and inspecting the contents of his platter, he called the waiter and said, "These are delicious, but they are much, much smaller than the ones I saw you serve yesterday!"
The waiter shrugged his shoulders and replied, "Si, Señor. Sometimes the bull, he wins.

I watched an interesting documentary by a filmmaker I am not that familiar with, J. Carlos Peinado. The documentary was called Waterbuster and it is his journey to discover his Hidatsa-Mandan background and the ramifications of the Garrison Dam.
It was just a few years ago that the US government was FINALLY forced to pay MHA nation the money that was owed them due to building of the Garrison dam and the flooding of their land. THe Dam was built back in the 50s. THe promises of irrigation to the people in ND has been a bust also.. .Lot of partially dry canals to nowhere...

Very well done and some interesting points... IRoncally, many are just discovering how much the Army Corps of Engineers has screwed people over. Grand Forks, ND knows from their own experiences with them in 1997.

Then I met the TPunk for a movie, the documentary: JONESTOWN: The Story of The People's Temple. Not exactly a pick-me-up, but very interesting. I've had a fascination with this event for a few years now, and the fact is, the more you learn about it, the more questions you have. This documentary does boast some incredible footage.
Since I have no idea where the hell we're going you have to drive!
Matt H - The Liza episode was repeated tonight at 9 pm EST. I have problems with the episode as a whole, as i often do when L&O takes a high profile case and tugs at it in a most distortive way, but Liza Minnelli was really very good. (But then I also enjoyed her in VICTOR/VICTORIA, actually attended her Christmas Spectacular at Town Hall a few years back, and think "The Money Tree" from THE ACT is one of the most riveting numbers I've ever seen on a stage.)
I was fascinated with it at the time. Is this a new movie?

Since we've reached that milestone tonight, I'm going to take a bit of time and try to reinstall my scanner software. It got screwed up last week and doesn't work. I don't know how this happened but something like this has happened before and all I had to do was reinstall the software. Hopefully it'll work again. I'm going to leave now, I will be back at some point soon.
