Out of curiousity, what do DRs think of John Wayne's film career?

I see that DR tomovoz holds a major dislike for Wayne, while I find him a fascinating "movie star."  A world without the films Wayne made with Howard Hawks would seem a very sad world to me.  St. Patrick's Day without THE QUIET MAN would be most unseemly.

"The Quiet Man" is most tolerable.  My favorite.

But.....WAIT FOR IT!.....I find I have to once again AGREE with DR Tomovoz.

I don't know whether it's because I'm getting older or Tom is wearing me down or what.

I will not laugh everytime I see Jane use "u" for "you" because I know why she's doing it.

And it ain't because she's reading up on internet lingo.

Thanks for the vibes and for being there while I was totally stressing out.  This isn't over, but the other vet had me so convinced that it was a dire emergency if thing didn't happen just so. I don't feel that way anymore.  Now to give her lots of love so she will be well.

Yes...that's what I'm talking about, too.  Rehydration fluids I gave Miss Vickie when she was dehydrated were called "lactated ringers."

I dreaded giving Miss Vickie those treatments because I was always afraid I would hurt her.  But she always sat and allowed it and she always felt much better afterward.

Good Evening!

When I headed out earlier, I really wasn't sure where I wanted to go, nor what I wanted to do.  Well, I decided to take the D Train to 7th Avenue, and then walked over to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).  I remembered a small blurb about a new Seurat exhibit starting there this week; in fact, it started today.  For MoMA members at least.  So, I went ahead and signed up, got my new membership card, and proceeded up to the sixth floor to view:

Georges Seurat: The Drawings

What a wonderful exhibit of some lesser-known pieces of a not-so-lesser-known artist.  There were a few drawings that literally had me in awe of not only the beauty of them, but also of the technique of them.  The use of "negative space", as well taking advantage of the texture of the Michallet paper, Seurat's preferred "canvas" for this drawings.  Never before have I become aware of how drawings and paintings are made of up not only the pencil, crayon, paint, but also of the existing canvas.

The final room of the exhibition concentrates on some of the studies for his larger paintings.  Of course, some studies for "La Grande Jatte" are included.

I also enjoyed the various placards placed throughout the exhibit that described life in Paris during Seurat's lifetime, and how the urbanization of Paris started the "fleeing to the suburbs".  -Who knew that the train could stand for so much?

I will definitely head back for a second and possibly third viewing, and I may even splurge on the accompanying book - especially since Members get a discount. :)

...And since I had not yet had lunch, I proceeded down to Terrace 5 for a late(!) lunch/early dinner.

Since it was not too chilly, I opted for a table outside overlooking the sculpture garden.  However, it will be nice to go back there in warmer, sunny weather.  In any case, I opted for the Fall Tasting menu: Beet Salad, and Slow-Roasted Salmon.  Oh, and Yes, dessert was also included: I chose their Pecan Tarte with Vanilla Ice Cream from among the many dessert choices.  Oh, and Dark Chocolate Hot Chocolate with Homemade Marshmallow.  Well, it turned out to come with three homemade marshmallows which were presented on a small swewer.  And there were three different types: Vanilla Bean, Pistachio and Coconut.  -I think they were my favorite part of the meal.

I almost stayed for a screening of David Strohmaier's Cinerama Adventure, but I really wanted to head home since the rain was starting up.

Should I have stayed?  Apparently this was the film's NYC debut - it was made in 2002.

This morning I had a physical.  Other than needing to lose some more weight [which I already knew], my doctor was very happy with all the numbers, etc., etc.

I had a wonderful time at last night's choral concert.  I spent most of today at the Yale Club with my friend Richard: eating, laughing, and catching up.  Richard is a male alto and has lived in the UK long enough that he is now elligible for dual US/UK citizenship.

While flipping the channels just now, I came across a couple of "entertainment news" programs... I think seeing Marie Osmond faint and fall just once, and from one camera angle was more than enough.  :-\
