i forgot that.

cilla, ron was very helpful with advice while i was learning to do this with bogie.  u have at least two people who can give u helpful suggestions, if u need it.

Thanks!  I'm looking forward to working with this vet. None of the "do at home" treatments were ever discussed at my other vet. Even if I don't ever have to do it, I will feel much better knowing I have what I need to take care of her.

I should start getting dinner on the table.

Battered cod, baked french fried potatoes, and zucchini fritters.

(Yes, it is fish!)

Baked!?!?!?!?  Hmm, it seems to me that you could do the initial fry before you fry the cod and zucchini fritters, and then give them a second fry (a.k.a. The Belgian Treatment).  -Hmm...And then if you can whip up some tzatziki... YUM!

i took my splint off for a heavenly shower.  i should have expected all the bruising, don’t know why I didn’t. ;D  I have been concerned the inside of my wrist, on the inside just the wrist-that bone that goes up to the thumb, hasn’t looked good.  I called the doctor, who was out, & thy said to take the splint off and ice it.  I have been icing it but the splints were in the way.  Now I can really get to it, and feel the cold.  I think it is a little better.

It is odd the side with the little crack is much worse than the opposite side with the break.  Not more painful, just looks worse.  I don’t want my hand to look like this forever, and i don't want a more confining splint or cast ???

sorry to complain but i'm sitting here with the cold ice and nothing else to do ;D

Ok, the vets have always just referred to them as subcutaneous fluids. I wasn't familiar with the lactated ringers term

Somehow LACTATED RINGERS just sounds like the sort of phrase you'd find here at HHW.

BK, surely you can do something with that.  ;)

Isn't tzatziki what I eat on my falafels? If not, it's a similar name.
Oh, I know the anti-falafel contingent here will be cringing.

Hmm.. I guess you could put tzatziki - greek yogurt, shredded cucumbers and garlic(!) on falafel... Sound yummy to me.  However, falafel is usually served with tahini - sesame seed paste.  Although, a garlic cream is also a common falafel condiment.

that is sweet, u didn't forget-just didn't remember.

i know i'm not the only one here who knows how stressful this is.

we have been in your situation.   when bogie began his serious problems we switched vets 3 times until we found the one we use now.  the other vets weren't bad, just not good enough.

Cilla, I'm a big believer in at-home care. Many years ago one of my cats had distemper. I took her to the vet, who, of course, said it was useless and wanted to put her to sleep immediately. I refused and we got into quite an arguement. I took her home, gave her water and liquid baby vitamins with an eyedropper every half-hour, kept her warm, and cuddled her. She got through it just fine. About a month or two later, a friend who worked for the vet and knew of our words, stopped by my house and asked what happened to the cat. "That's her," I said, referring to the kitty who was happily running all around. She couldn't believe it.

There's a lot to be said, I think, for an animal being at home with loved ones and getting much care and attention, versus an institutional environment.

And then there's that semi-mysterious "White Sauce" that the Halal Food Carts here in NYC top their offering with.  It seems to be a combo of yogurt, sour cream, mayonnaise, dill, garlic, etc.  Although each cart chef seems to have his own secret formula.

Yes, that's it. PERFECT PITA, near me, serves their falafels that way. It's quite good, actually. My favorite falafels, however, are at ALADDIN, in Shirlington. Know the place, Jose?

jeanne, that vet was very wrong.  36 years ago My Sin had distemper when she walked into our apartment and adopted us.  the vet said one more day and she would have been gone. he didn't hesitate to treat her & we had her 17 wonderful years.

I know Alladin very well from my days working at Signature Theatre.  Yummy!

Have you tried the Amsterdam Falafelshop in Adams-Morgan?  Very good falafel, and the toppings bar is full of other goodies too which you can pile on to your heart's delight.  And since they do not provide silverware nor plasticware, one learns to stack and balance things accordingly.  :D

*And they're open till 4:00AM on the weekends!

Jane, I think there are cases where the animal CAN get well, but it takes more care than can be given in the typical animal hospital, where the staff is limited and has many animals to care for.

I'm glad you were able to keep My Sin.

Yes, DR George, I know...I ordered it from them because you made me aware of it with your post.  And my copy arrived last week.   :P   Sorry!  I do like it.

Don't be sorry!  I should apologize because it's half the price at Footlight.com than from all the way from Australia.  I should've looked around on-line before I tried to buy it overseas. :-\
