Sherlock would have found that trunk awkward to maneuver & our bed is only 26" high.  We hunted & hunted & finally found our great steps at http://petloader.com.  A bit pricey but nothing else worked.

There are two of us to keep Sherlock from rolling off the bed once he is on it.  Even with both of us he has rolled right over me & off the bed before I could catch him.

I haven't heard back from my friend today, so he may not have been thrilled with my nitpicky comments about his book.

I have now heard from my friend, the writer (actually 3 times), and he was quite happy with my comments.

I was so sorry to learn of the passing of Charlton Heston.

And now we can get that rifle from his "Cold dead hands" to quote Mr. Heston the former president of the NRA.

Those of us who were unable to access the site this morning probably had a good four or five hundred posts in us that we were unable to post!

It's been grey/gray and overcast all day here in NYC.  Temperature-wise, it wasn't too bad when I headed out earlier for another brief set of auditions, but over the past couple of hours, it's gotten noticeably cooler.  -And it looks like that forecasted drizzle will also be starting soon.

However, that didn't stop me from taking a nice walk from 50th street all the way up to 96th.  I had originally just planned to walk up to Columbus Circle and grab the train there like I usually do, but since the audition was so short, and since I had a few extra hours to myself, I just kept walking.  From block to block, subway station to subway station until I ended back over at Central Park West to catch the C train at 96th.  -Oh, and I did stop into Levain for one of their Artichoke Heart and Gruyere Thin-Crust Pizzas.  And a cookie, of course.  :)

I also stopped by Carnegie Hall to pick up my tickets for Nathan Gunn's upcoming recital, and I went ahead and treated myself to a ticket to Bryn Terfel's recital at the end of the month too.  :)

DR Jose-pizza sounds good.

There are clean sheets on the bed, the laundry has all been done as well, dishes are all washed & the mother-in-law has been called.  The rain has stopped for now so I think I'll take a walk.  I don't feel like walking in the mud so I doubt I will go far.

Well, you could.  But you'd have to get the UK editions.

DR Danise - Glad to hear that you had a good night's sleep on your new bed.  I'm sure Bear and Sheena will get used to the new piece of furniture in the room sooner rather than later.

Sunday evening greetings!  I was so tired after work yesterday that I just came home and collapsed.  Tried to log on this morning before leaving for church in Cincinnati and, well, you know...

Anyway, it's a bee-yoo-tee-ful day here in SW Ohio!  Sunny, breezy, high 60s.  You can just see everyone's mood lifting (except for my aunt, but that's another story...)

Richard officiated at Morning Prayer today and delivered a sermon on Isaiah 40:1-11 into which he wove recorded excerpts from Handel's Messiah.  One of the parishoners declared it "imaginative" and "creative" and I've requested he file it away for delivery again someday when he has a live choir behind him.

After church and lunch, we did a shopping errand for him, one for me, and made a grocery stop for my mother and aunt.  We delivered the groceries to them at the retirement community and finally got home at 5:30pm EDT.  Where'd my weekend go?

DR Jose - Bryn Terfel!  Richard and I want to see him in recital someday - is the CH date the beginning of a US tour?

I'm not sure he's on a recital tour right now.  I think it's just something that got scheduled since he's singing at the Met this Spring.  -At least I think he is.  ???

And courtesy of Irving Berlin...

The theatuh, the theatuh
What's happened to the theatuh
Especially where dancing is concerned

Chaps
Who did taps
Aren't tapping anymore
They're doing choreography

Chicks
Who did kicks
Aren't kicking anymore
They're doing choreography

Heps
Who did steps
That would stop the show in days that used to be

Through the air they keep flying
Like a duck that is dying
Instead of dance
It's choreography

And speaking of Irving Berlin... One of the young women who came into audition today sang "Just In Time".  She had a lead sheet for it.  The notes were fine, the chords were correct, however, the composer was listed as "Irving Berlin".  WRONG!!!!!!!!

I am just now getting to a Bollywood movie for this weekend...UPKAR (1967) is quiet good, a has a strong socialist bent to it. The photography is magnificent and the musical numbers are all very patriotic...all about taking care of the land and the people and using birth control and not being greedy or mean.

Stars Manoj Kumar (who wrote and directed the film) and one of my favorite leading ladies, Asha Parekh, and supported by Pran, Aruna Irani, and David.

I have really got to go back and reread BILLY BUDD.

It's the gayest non-gay novel in American lit!
