It's the gayest non-gay novel in American lit!

I will second that.

Has Elmore posted a pic of his new bed?

Yikes!  Those are the biggest bedbugs I've ever seen.

DR MAttH, re: MONK and PSYCH.

I"m not sure which seasons these shows are in (since USA is one of the few networks we don't get in Canada).

You said these were not the pilot shows. But are they from the beginning? Are they planning on showing just this one episode of each. Or most of the season. I have never seen either. And i probably won't watch if they are just single episodes.

I had a very low key day today. My roommate got home at 8AM so we talked for a bit and then we both went to sleep. I treated myself to a turkey, egg and cheese on a roll (yum!) and then dragged myself to the gym. Later in the afternoon we went to get pedicures and now we are catching up on the last few episodes of Rock of Love. It's a very guilty pleasure.

The weather has been kind of miserable today so it was the perfect day to stay indoors and vegitate. The cats have happily hung out on the couch with me.

At some point I am going to have to pry myself off the couch and bake the sculpey clay pieces that some of the kids made. One of my responsibilities is to co-lead loss and trauma groups for kids who have experienced the loss, either through death or forced separation, of a parent or significant person in their life. One of the projects they do is to create a memento out of clay to represent either the person/s they have lost or some other significant part of their life.

TPunk, you still managed to go to the gym-that's more than simply vegetating all day.   :)

I have been posting some of my job frustration as of late. I super love the kids that I work with and the work that I get to do. There are however a few folks who have made it a very stressful and frustrating environment. Unfortunately these folks are in supervisory positions and I am not alone in being VERY frustrated. This has been building for several months but it's gotten to the point where I and some of my co-workers are now considering our options- which sucks because I love my job. But I also can't come home with a ball of stress and anger in my stomach every day. I'm aware that if that continues, I will no longer be of any help to my kids.

It sounds like a great project for the kids.

The groups are pretty amazing. It was a model initially developed for use with kids who had experienced a death in their family. Over the years, we've modified it for use with our population, many of whom have had multiple separations and losses. There are a lot of writing and art projects that allow the kids to express their feelings and questions about what have happened. There are concurrent groups for parents/caregivers to learn about what the kids are experiencing. The parents often have a hard time talking to kids, not wanting to upset or overwhelm them. They're often surprised to find that the kids know way more than they think they do, and that when kids don't have the complete picture they often make up things that are even worse.

I'm sure it would have helped if my father had been more open about my mother's problems when I was growing up.

I am reading ATONEMENT. I loved the movie (and that green dress) and the book is even better.

It's so difficult to know what's right to say. I find myself struggling sometimes to share difficult news with my kids. I have to remind myself that the truth is usually better than not knowing.

It's in the movie and described in the book. I was pleased when I read that part of the book to see that the movie had been faithful to that detail.

Job-wise, hang in there, DR TPunk.  You're doing a lot of good, it sounds.  I often say that I love my job and loathe the environment in which I have to do it.

Sadly that is often the case.  It could be worse, you hate the job & the environment.

TPunk & Ginny-Wishing you a change, for good, in the staff.

It is such a treat when that happens.  I should read the book.

I got one of the references...I've been reading up on Rosalind Franklin because for now it looks like Bryan will be going to the medical school named for her.

Hmm, DR Jane, the city where that school is located is within driving distance of where I live.  Maybe we could meet there sometime!

Oh, it's a 5 or 6 hour drive, but very doable!  At least it's closer than Oregon.
