Interviewer to Steve Allen:  Mr Allen, do they get your show in Bakersfield?

Steve Allen:  They watch it, but I'm not sure they get it.

I'm at rehearsal, watching the end of act one.  There were fresh croissants upon our arrival.  I do not like croissants, fresh or otherwise, but I ate one anyway.
I want to make a joke about donuts, but I'll refrain.  ;D

Ginny, that perfectly sums up my feelings about work right now.

TPunk - It never hurts to be looking at your options while you keep your job.  With the sort of group stuff you do, there may be other places where you can help kids or do other sorts of counseling and social work.  It never hurts to just see what you're missing. You may also find that there isn't anything else you'd rather do...then you'll know.

Well I'm caught up on the post and it's time to end my break

I've finished a little more than half of the motions and briefs I need to have done by tomorrow night, so I'm feeling pretty good. Think I'll try to draft the rest of them tonight so tomorrow is just editing and filing.  I have a ton of work again this week, but this was the most pressing. Tomorrow there will be another most pressing...lol

I also stopped by Carnegie Hall to pick up my tickets for Nathan Gunn's upcoming recital, and I went ahead and treated myself to a ticket to Bryn Terfel's recital at the end of the month too.  :)
Bryn is awesome! I loved him in Falstaff. And I have a cd of him doing nothing but Schubert lieder.  ;D

I jsut gave Boo her dewormer. I don't think she has worms, but the vet wants to rule it out. I was supposed to do it yesterday but it's a huge pill for such a little cat. Anyway, she got sick once today, so I did it.  There aren't supposed to be side effects with it, but I'll be home all night just in case.  I would think if she's going to have a problem it would be in the first 12 hours

I watched the second half of SENSE & SENSIBILITY and now I'm going to bed.  I liked it very much, but I think the Ang Lee film is glorious and this new miniseries is a wonderful, perhaps more faithful, version of Miss Austen's novel.

Domic Cooper was too young for Willoughby and Greg Wise was just right.  I loved the Elinor, Hattie Morahan, who is more the right age than Emma Thompspn was, and, while Dan Stevens reminded me of Hugh Grant, he's quite wonderful as Edward.  The evil sister-in-law, Fanny Dashwood, in this new version leaves the actress in the Ang Lee film in the dust; she's truly evil incarnant. I wonder if she based the character on my sister-in-law?

So, I recommend this new version highly.

And good night.

For you or for visiting family?

For myself.  I used to treat myself to a nice room at the Omni Berkshire Place when I was in college.  -They had unbelievably low weekend rates back then.  Since I'm having a "milestone" birthday this year, one of the options I'm considering is having a Really Nice Weekend In NYC.  Through their Select Guest Program, I can book a small suite(!) for about $250/night.  Not bad at all.

The little goof. as soon as I typed that she started howling upstairs. I ran full speed up the steps expecting something horrible and there she was sitting next to her toy with what can only be described as a smirk on her face.  AH!  Back to work.

DR JANE - doing okay, thanks for asking....as the days go by, you know.  Sounds like you've got some animal drama going on in your family yourself!  Thoughts with you!

Nothing compared to what you are dealing with.  Thank you for the good thoughts.  Hopefully all our pet drama will be fine by the end of the week.

We always decorate Clark and Gable our gargoyles at the World of Wisdom.

It is NOT my birthday, but I was tired of looking at my old avatar, and DR GEORGE was kind enough to make this for me last week.  ;D

I love this avatar.

I used to walk past a house that had a set of dogs out find, like Cilla's lions are sitting.  They would decorate them for the various holidays.  It was always fun to walk by & check them out.

DR MAttH, re: MONK and PSYCH.

I"m not sure which seasons these shows are in (since USA is one of the few networks we don't get in Canada).

You said these were not the pilot shows. But are they from the beginning? Are they planning on showing just this one episode of each. Or most of the season. I have never seen either. And i probably won't watch if they are just single episodes.

As I said, I didn't watch the MONK episode so I'm not sure which season it's from. PSYCH has only been on two seasons, and I believe tonight's was from the second season. I just flipped over to NBC during the CBS commercial breaks, but it looked like an episode from this season.

To the best of my knowledge, MONK and PSYCH will run the rest of the season (April-May) unless the ratings tonight are atrociously low. NBC had originally planned for LAW & ORDER and MEDIUM to be occupying these two time periods during the second half of the season (after football was over), but the strike changed those plans. So, they really don't have anything else to run unless, as I said, the ratings are bad. Then, I'm guessing, they'll run movies in the Sunday slot for the next two months.

Yes, it rhymes with "sporty".

I'm just trying to figure out how big a party I want to have.  -And if I really want to have one.  I may just do what I did a few years ago when I first moved here, and set up camp in the basement room of La Cocina, and have people stop by throughout the evening - I LOVED that birthday.  But a nice party at the Omni would be cool too.  *The other option I've been toying with is going to the airport and buying a ticket on the next plane to somewhere.  ;)

Tonight's COLD CASE was very different from the usual formula. Not sure I liked it as much as I would a regular episode, but it's been so long since I've seen the show that I won't complain any more.

I thought tonight we were going to be introduced to Lily's new love interest. I guess that will be later in the season.

I forgot to mention that I did put PHONE BOOTH in the HD-DVD player tonight and watched the first 25 minutes of it upconverted. Looked very nice. I'll likely finish it tomorrow afternoon after I watched the TV shows from the DVR. Tomorrow night, I'm going to have to make a start on that MTV date show unless something a lot more appealing review-wise pops up in the mail.
