DR JMK - is the Pawn Shop on 1st Avenue in Seattle - THE PAWNSHOP?
DR ELMORE the Dream-O-Matic 6000 says that your dream indicates that you are sure that if you had stayed in Ohio that your life would have been a nightmare, and that no matter how irritating some of your NYC friends are, they have made your life more exciting than it might have been.
I'm up, and getting ready for the arrival of Bukowsical CDs and helper. Can't wait. Just did the "Which Drunken Author Are You?" survey on Facebook and the answer, not too surprisingly, was Charles Bukowski. I'll drink to that.
The eBay guy replied to paypal - just one excuse after another and he basically says that when he saw several e-mails from me that he didn't feel like answering them. Say what? I just replied that communication is imperative on these kinds of transactions - he also skirted around whether the item has been shipped (I'm guessing not) and said nothing about WHEN it would be shipped, which is all we're trying to find out. Now he's upset that they've put a hold on the funds. I further replied that I would be happy to immediately remove the dispute if he e-mailed me and let me know what is going on. It's that simple, really.
The "I didn't feel like it" defense sounds fascinating, almost like the "I couldn't resist" defense - LOL.
Feel better vibes to DRs MIchael S. and John G!
This has been a strange day with plans gone awry; when I went to make the bed, around 10 am, I discovered that one of my pillows had fallen off the bed during the night and landed on the floor. Since the thought of bed bugs continues to freak me out, I decided I'd better wash it and the pillowcase before I put it back on the bed.
I stupidly decided to use the washers in the basement rather than the industrial-strength ones down the street, and the debacle began. Once full of water, the pillow was too heavy to allow thw washer to work and unbalanced it. I had to wring out the pillow (fat chance!) by hand. Then it took me 2.5 hours to dry the damned thing!
I called my friend Curtis at 11:30 to tell him I would be about half an hour late, and forty-five minutes later I called him to report that I was in laundry hell and would not be coming in at all. Then, at 12:30 I took the pillow down to the laundromat. Now it's dry. Oy!

TOD: Babysitting. Then when I was in high school, one of the local car dealerships was clearing out their old sales files, and they hired a bunch of us to write the name of the buyer, the date of purchase, and the type of vehicle bought on index cards before they threw the file away.
I learned a couple of important things on that job.
1. Make the coffee bad the first time so it won't end up being your job.
2. Older men will hit on young girls (not me, one of the pretty girls).
3. You will suddenly have more friends when you get paid, and said friends will expect you to pick up the check.
First job I ever had was on Saturday mornings, from the time I was 14, accompanying my father on his bakery runs. Before we would load the truck, I was assisting in the prep rooms, making donuts, kneading breads, filling cream puffs, eclairs and jelly donuts.
The place: Princess Pastries in Parnassus, Pennsylvania.
OK, I'm about to brave the cold to run errands - using my very own car! Rob's home from Michigan for a couple of weeks, so now we're a 2-car/3-people household.
Bye for now!

I had potential great news for cast album lovers - I'd say it looks like it's about ninety percent certain and we'll just be pending approval this week - but if it happens we'll have three great UK cast albums to release very soon.
I'm not a guest, but I'll say hello, Jane. :D
Well, I got through my very first Employee Evaluations as a supervisor. I had the easy part...my former supervisor did the actual evaluations. I just sat in on them. Everyone did quite well this year. I just need to keep notes over the next year so that I know what to evaluate them on next year.
The cast album releases are not recent and none of them have ever been available on CD before - it's really exciting, actually, and one of them, I think, will have people over the moon. And the other two aren't chopped liver. I love these UK cast albums - two of them are London productions of US musicals, and one isn't.

Nice you will have him home for so long.
Ginny, I think you should begin layer more. Wear a scarf around your neck, a hat, and gloves.
I have been doing the "Getting Ready Rag," preparing for tomorrow's grantwriters' meetings. It will be my last as a board member - YAY!
Great advice, Jane, but I've decided that if I need that much clothing it's probably too cold for me to be outside for any period of time.

Ooooh!!! 1776, maybe?
I like Martha Stewart. She can make anything.
Today was cookie making day. I did rum balls, pressed spritz sugar cookies, and oatmeal chocolate chip. I also tried a Martha Stewart gingerbread man recipe, but they came out more cake-like than hard cookie-like--too delecate in texture to make gingerbread men that would remain intact until Christmas. So I made just plain round cookies with the rest of the batter.
All cookies are now wrapped and packed safely away from my sweet tooth...
How are you feeling, Jose?

I believe Martha Stewart has two different gingerbread cookie/men recipes...
Could it have been your oven temps? Your butter? Your flour? Maybe there was a bit too much baking powder and/or soda? ???
One type of cookie that my sister and I liked making when we were kids was a stained glass window cookie. Using a sugar cookie dough, you cut shapes with holes in the center, then dropped colored sugar in the holes when the cookies were on the baking sheet. The colored sugar melts when baking and makes a "stained glass" in the center. They were very cool looking (especially when we got creative and made shapes like peace signs.) Trouble was, no one really wanted to eat them, and if anyone did, they would have to break the cookie away from the stained glass parts, which was usually thrown away. I guess they are probably only meant for display, like gingerbread houses...

I love(d) those stained-glass cookies! -And I would eat the stained-glass part.
I don't think I ever used colored sugars for the "glass". Instead, I usually used crushed sour balls or Lifesavers.
I saw snow flurries on the way to work

I've also found that it helps to let gingerbread cookie dough sit for a while - even overnight - before rolling and baking it. -If that helps...
I have a stuffy nose and a sore throat
To go out for a walk or hike I can wear six to seven layers plus the scarf, hat & gloves. One of those layers is a vest, the other a sweatshirt with a hood to pull up over my hat.

Not really because then you will be warm. My layers on not confining or overly bulky, just warm. The nice thing about layering is I can remove them as I warm up.
I vote for you to raid the EMI vaults and finally release THE GOOD OLD BAD OLD DAYS on CD, BK.
