Well, you've read the notes, the notes went round every corner, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently going round ever cowner.
-
And the word of the day is: ACEDIA!
-
Well, bk, that can't have been easy to contemplate or to write about, but thank you for sharing it.
-
DR JRand58, glad you are starting to feel better! :) May your progress continue!

DR JoseSPiano, sounds like you have a nice setup there. Looking forward to your posts as you settle into your job and as you explore the city.

For Mr. Barnum (or anyone else enamored of Mr. Tom Wopat), a review from the New York Times (Stephen Holden) of Wopat's new cabaret act in the Oak Room of the Algonquin
Music Review | Tom Wopat
Rugged Leading Man Is a Little Bit Broadway, a Little Bit Country
By STEPHEN HOLDEN
Published: March 11, 2009
Tom Wopat strolled into the Oak Room of the Algonquin Hotel on Tuesday evening, crooning a flawless a cappella rendition of “Last Night When We Were Young.” Halfway through the song the pianist Tedd Firth slid in behind him, and Mr. Wopat’s wonderful new show, “Love Swings,” was off and running. Following them every step of the way were David Finck on bass and Bob Malach on tenor sax.
Because both Mr. Wopat and Frank Sinatra are saloon singers who imprint their personalities on everything they perform, they are kindred spirits, although their voices are not much alike. Mr. Wopat’s version of the Sinatra hit “That’s Life” stripped this pugilistic anthem of much of its combativeness and turned it into an easygoing “One for My Baby”-style jaunt, without the alcoholic content.
Unlike Sinatra, Mr. Wopat can be a rugged Broadway leading man (“Annie Get Your Gun,” “City of Angels”) when the occasion demands.
Then, without straining to be anyone other than himself, he can strap on a guitar and deliver honky-tonk country-blues (Delbert McClinton’s “Maybe Someday Baby”) with the casual authority of a veteran who has played a thousand nights at juke joints, or a rural Mississippian (his languid, folksy rendition of “Ode to Billie Joe”).
What he shares with Sinatra is an ability to live inside whatever he sings. His flexibility doesn’t seem to be a matter of self-conscious role playing but an expression of his far-reaching musical tastes and personal experience. A similar range applies to the ages of his songs’ narrators. Singing a slow bossa nova-flavored version of the Beatles’ “And I Love Her,” in a boyishly smooth voice, he conveyed the rapture of a young man in the throes of first love. (Mr. Wopat is 57.) A similar sense of a somewhat older man spellbound while on a romantic journey infused his version of Judy Collins’s “Since You’ve Asked.”
His most refreshing reinvention was a brisk, understated version of “Over the Rainbow” that took the song back from the hundreds of histrionic belters who have used it as a platform for broadcasting their self-pity. Mr. Wopat treated it as an expression not of defeat but of possibility. As he sang the words, “Why, oh, why can’t I?,” it sounded as if he meant: “Why not? Let’s give it a try.”
Tom Wopat performs through March 21 at the Oak Room of the Algonquin Hotel, 59 West 44th Street, Manhattan; (212) 419-9331, algonquinhotel.com

Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I'm about to head into a production meeting, so...

Good morning everyone. Off to work. Will have to reread BK's notes again when I get home.
It's wonderful to be able to talk about the bad stuff and then move forward. Believing is the key.
-
And the word of the day is: ACEDIA!
And The Song Of The Day Is: LAZY BONES
-
Good morning, all! BK, these notes for the last week have been amazing.
So, for me the day is made up of Babes In Toyland and Frank Loesser; our office goal is to turn into the Institute within the next month Volume 1 of the Babes full score (the volume containing the show and its appendices) with its critical report, the piano-vocal score, libretto, and all notes and man report. Volume 2 of the full score (German version, commercial stock arrangements and Herbert's Concert Overture) is still in prep. I want to finish Act One of Loesser tomorrow because I've got a ton of notes to write up and turn it in. The next two weeks are tied up with Babes and Ron Raines' April 7 concert with an April 1 band rehearsal.

Here's some interesting news:

If you don't know Im Weissen Rossl, it's a fantastic operetta score, although I prefer the French version L'Auberge du Cheval blanc.
-
What?
-
BK, loved today's notes. Been there and know what you're talking about. I'm always amazed by people who think once you've been on stage or TV, that you're in show biz and you've got it made. I've know so many people who've been on top and been on the bottom and then been back in the game. It's an ongoing struggle and you never have got it made. It's also the most emotionally debilitating business in the world, where you can be riding the crest and, a phone call later, be plummetting into the depths of despair. I always tell people: "If you can be a happy, whole person doing anything else, go do it." Because this is a sickness. A grand sickness, but a sickness nonetheless. Even we lucky ones who have managed to eke out lengthy careers and had some measure of success, still have to climb down in the trench and fight the same battle each day.

Good morning!
Cooler ehre today, but it wasn't as cool as I was expecting. Should be a pleasant day and certainly much more typical for mid-March than what we've been living for the last week.
-
Abe Vigoda
Is he still alive? ;)
-
Bad WEST SIDE STORY:
Tony - Harvey Fierstein
Maria - Lanie Kazan
Anita - Felicity Huffman
Bernardo - Mickey Rooney (as always)
Riff - Tim Curry
-
On TV Tonight!™
ABC - UGLY BETTY, GREY'S ANATOMY, PRIVATE PRACTICE
NBC - comedies, ER
CBS - SURVIVOR, CSI, ELEVENTH HOUR
FOX - BONES, HELL'S KITCHEN
CW - SMALLVILLE, SUPERNATURAL
-
Sugar and I watched the sunrise over Camelback Mountain on our first walk of the day. I liked the dancing in "West Side Story." And George Chakiris and Russ Tamblyn and of course, the glorious Natalie Wood.
-
My work project today is THE LAST METRO on Blu-ray, but I may not be able to do it all today. There are two commentaries and a ton of bonus features (unless they're all very brief). With so much on TV tonight, I'll have to watch BETTY and GREY'S "live" while the DVR recortds everything else and then at 10 can go back and watch BONES.
-
Page Two Dance!!!
-
The last time I saw a professional company of WEST SIDE STORY, it was at Lincoln Center. I think it played at the New York State Theatre, however, as I recall. I'd have to drag out the program to be sure.
-
I agree very interesting notes today!
-
I must hurry downstairs now and get cleaned up. We're doing an early lunch today, and I'm in need of a major brush and polish!
WBBL.

Abe Vigoda
Is he still alive? ;)
If you can call that living.
-
DR Ben, thanks so much for posting the Tom Wopat review. That would certainly be on my list of things to see, if I were there.
-
I saw a professional tour of WSS a few years ago. It was okay. Of course always nice to hear the music live!!!
-
Yes DR BEN thanks for the Wopat Report.
-
Them Duke boys always wuz talented.
-
BK,
I read your notes and, as I've told you privately several times, the details may be different, but our stories are essentially the same.
I, also, took on a Hollywood big shot early on...which certainly did major damage to my (writing) career path.
Yes, even though I was in the right, it was a stupid thing to do.
But, looking back, I'm not really sorry that I did it.
It's very important for me to be able to look at myself in the mirror every morning, and had I not taken this guy on, I might not be able to do that.
Remember what Oliver Pettridge says: "A Man Must Stand for Something".
Also, like you, things changed for me in the 1990s. I'd sold my first screenplay in 1989, then during the 1990s, I got involved with Roger Corman, who kept me quite busy for most of the decade and well into the new century. Not all of the films I did for him are classics, but I made a good living [He paid me quite well.] and I had a satisfying writing (with some directing) career.
Yes, there's been a lot of depression over the years, but I can honestly say (at age 68), it's been a great ride and I am looking forward to the opportunities in Austin.
-
The last time I saw a professional company of WEST SIDE STORY, it was at Lincoln Center. I think it played at the New York State Theatre, however, as I recall. I'd have to drag out the program to be sure.
It did. With Kurt Peterson and Victoria Mallory as Tony and Maria, produced by Richard Rodgers. I was surprised that RCA Victor, who recorded so many of the Lincoln Center summer productions, ignored this one.
-
DR Ben, thanks so much for posting the Tom Wopat review. That would certainly be on my list of things to see, if I were there.
Well, if you'd stop shopping at the Piggly Wiggly for $1.00 DVDs and save your pennies . . .
-
Speaking of WEST SIDE STORY, one of my very first publicity clients was David Winters, who played "Ah-rab" in both the Broadway and movie version of the play.
When I started with him, he was choreographing an Elvis Presley movie.
-
Back from the optician's and the grocery. Glasses are better - not perfect - but at least I can read the computer screen more comfortably.
-
And I just saw David Winters (dance teacher of MR BK) in the classic movie ROCK PRETTY BABY.
-
Good news, DR GINNY. Now we can all go back to posting in our regular fonts.
-
Druxy, as you say, you've got to be able to look at yourself in the mirror each day. Some people in the Biz, apparently don't, and so anything resembling morals or ethics or just common sense evades them.
But like you, I need to gape at my mug in the mirror and feel comfortable that a fairly honest and honourable human being is staring back at me. Some of my battles with bigshots have been legendary and more than once been played out in fairly public arenas, some certainly impeded my career, some may have enhanced it. But a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do and let the blood splatter where it falls.
I've heard nothing but great things about Austin as a city and I know it has a lively Arts community. Good luck there.

Hello all!
This morning I went to see my surgeon. He is pleased with my progress. Even though I am eating very little by mouth he thinks I am doing well for only a week of eating. He also suggested that I could go to my original Ear Nose and Throat and have a tube inserted into my right ear to open my ear canal and relieve my deafness.
I called the ENT as soon as I got back and left a detailed message with his receptionist. I am waiting for a call back. I am hoping he will tell me he will be able to do the procedure in his office tomorrow (especially as I am now scheduled to be back at work Monday morning!)
-
Once again, BK, I found the Notes riveting. Thank you for sharing all these stories with us!
-
Jose I am so pleased that everything has been set up so nicely for you! After 6 weeks there you may not want to come home to New York!
-
Tonight the Vixter and I will be going to the high school to see the production of High School Musical. This is the production she had to drop out of when she was selected for the All County Chorus.
The musical is being performed tonight, tomorrow evening, Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening and she has chorus rehearsal tomorrow evening and most of the day Saturday and the concert is Saturday night.
Her chorus teacher who is directing the musical was very upset about the conflict. Apparently the All County Concert date had been changed after they scheduled the musical - she had originally set it up so there would be no conflict and then was unable to change the performance dates when the conflict occurred.
Oh well, the Vixter took it all in stride and two of her good friends are in thr ensemble so we shall go and cheer them on!
-
DR Ben, thanks so much for posting the Tom Wopat review. That would certainly be on my list of things to see, if I were there.
Me too!
-
DR Vixter-GOOD ENT VIBES! I hope a tube will be an easy fix to your hearing problem.
-
Good medical news from DR vixmom. :) [ not to be confused with DR the vixter! :D ]
***CONTINUED GOOD MEDICAL OUTCOME VIBES*** to you!!!!!

Maybe you, me and BK should start a club.

I must correct a statement I made last month. I said Joaquin Phoenix's brother in-law is filming him & then proceeded to name the wrong Affleck brother. It is Casey Affleck who is married to Summer Phoenix.
-
Thanks for all the nice comments about the notes. And I don't really have regrets because even in the worst of it it's all taught me and led me somewhere interesting, to areas I might never have visited before (round every corner). And with taking on Paramount, I was in the right, and I had the proof and in the end no one cared, but good came out of it - they gave us back the film gratis and we were able to give it to another distributor who made a success out of it, especially in New York. Of course, that irked Paramount even more, because the trade papers made quite a deal of it the week we were the fourth highest-grossing film in the country.
-
I do love the idea of Barbara Cook as Anita.
-
At long last page three.
-
I got up just a little too late to do the long jog, I think, as helper will be here at eleven and I'd have had to start six minutes ago.
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LIZA!!!!!

Mr Madoff has been sentenced to prison ASAP. I still think they should have dragged him into the streets for a public execution. Vive la revolution!

This is cute.
I guess it's a new take on the old Boston tryout.

I believe I will finish the violin 2 part for Act One Scene 3 and then take my walk. My morning has been a flurry of Babes emails, rewrites, and edits.
-
a flurry of Babes
The Anti Birth-Control Musical!
-
I went back to the notes and fixed the typos and split them into more paragraphs and also added one thing about The Faculty - I neglected to say that in the mid-90s it sold and got made - point being, you never know.
-
I've been having long telephonic conversations and must now get dressed before helper arrives in five minutes.
-
NOT guilty !!!!
No time to talk :D
-
Oh, DR Cillaliz, I am thrilled for both you and your client!! :)

Helper is late but on the way.

I gotta tell you.

Good Afternoon!
The production meeting went well, and the subsequent vocal rehearsal went well too. It's always nice teaching a show that really wasn't meant, wasn't written for Singer-singers - at least among the leads and supporting players - except for Ulla ("Now Ulla belt."). The "kids" had already done a bit of work on their own, and it was nice being able to tell them to "not sing so much". Once I get the full ensemble on Saturday, then I'll want Singing.
-
DR Cillaliz - Congrats to you and your client!
-
As for the Topic of the Day...
Tony - Crispin Glover
Maria - Carol Channing
Bernardo - Chuy (Chelsea Handler's sidekick)
Anita - Miley Cyrus
Riff - Clay Aiken
-
NOT guilty !!!!
No time to talk :D
Congratulations to your client and you, Cillaliz!
-
Speaking of CREATURE WASN'T NICE, it turns out the director of The Producers wrote another Leslie Nielsen space-themed spoof called 2001: A SPACE TRAVESTY.
-
Just got my tickets for FINIAN'S RAINBOW! Yay.
-
It's turning chillier by the hour. COlder now than it was at noon when I went out to lunch. I'm not sure it got to 50 today, but maybe it did.
-
TOD:
Maria - Vanessa Hudgens
Tony - Zac Efron
Anita - Ashley Tisdale
Bernardo - Lucas Grabeel
Riff - Corbin Bleu
Dpc - Alyson Reed
Krupke - Bart Johnson

I have spent all afternoon with THE LAST METRO. I've always loved this film, and the Criterion Blu-ray is lush looking. Almendros used lots of warm colors in the photography, and it is just dazzling in high definition. By far the best version of the film I've ever seen. Deneuve is just stunning to look at in this film.
-
I spent the rest of the afternoon sampling both commentaries. The Depardieu one wasn't very interesting (he shares it with two other folks, one being a historian). He and the other men are much more interested in talking about the politics of the time and rather than reminiscing about making the movie. The other is by Annette Insdorf which is more interesting. She's a Truffaut biographer.
-
But there are many other bonus features to go. I'll start on them when I go back downstairs.
-
Had an early lunch at Du-Par's - first time there in a year, I think. Had a short stack (excellent) and bacon and eggs, no potatoes.
-
Attaching postage now.

I'm curious if anyone here knows any home remedies for burns.
This is for my arm (i burned it on the oven 2-3 weeks ago). The square where the burn was has mostly healed (it is just a bit pinker than the rest of my arm). But the part in the middle where i stupidly put a bandaid (and it ripped off a bit of skin) has left a mark.
It doesn't seem to want to go away. And i really have no idea what type of cream i can put on it to help it heal.
I've been using my soft laser, which seems to have helped the burn a lot (too bad i didn't think to use that first night).
Thanks if anyone knows any tips.
-
I went back to the notes and fixed the typos and split them into more paragraphs and also added one thing about The Faculty - I neglected to say that in the mid-90s it sold and got made - point being, you never know.
I wondered why you didn't mention that fact.
-
NOT guilty !!!!
No time to talk :D
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
-
DR Jennifer I don't know what a soft laser is. I'm sort of a traditionalist when it comes to burns. I use the antibiotic ointment until they are completely healed & there is no risk of infection. Then I use vitamin E oil to reduce the scaring.
-
I'm jumping off-line now to write for awhile and then head back down to work on more bonus features for the two hours I'll have before primetime.
WBBL.
-
Congrats to DR CILLA LIZ!
-
I am sorry there is no inducement that would compel me to attend a High School Production of High School Musical - or in fact ANY stage production of the show.
-
My local high school is presenting CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN - starring the daughter of the director. Said director told the local paper: "Our version is a little different than the one usually seen. In ours, the parents are commenting on the action, and then they move into the scene."
The script calls for Frank Jr. and Ernestine to narrate....sort of like the girl in I Remember Mama or Tom in The Glass Menagerie.....but I guess that isn't good enough for this gal.
-
I have been looking at some Richard III interpretations on YOU TUBE. There's some bad acting going on around the country....some of it caught on camera ON PURPOSE.

This is cute.
I guess it's a new take on the old Boston tryout.

Dr Jennifer, there is still a mark on my wrist where I burned it in January. It's slowly fading and it doesn't appear there will be scarring, but it just takes time

Thanks all for the congrats. My client's mother cried, his father cried, my client cried, I grinned from ear to ear and skipped down the hallway when no one was looking

My client has totally turned his life around. He's one of those people who got it and got his act together and NOW they go ahead with the prosecution and want to send him to prison. I am so thankful that didn't happen. I have a feeling I'll be dining with his parents at the lake sometime soon. They insisted that I call them when I'm in the area so they can take me to dinner. I'm thrilled to say yes. They are good, kind people and when his mother said "My son was lost for so long, but I finally have him back. I'm so thankful I'm not losing him again" well, that just makes it all worthwhile
-
I'm very curious to see what happens at sentencing for Madoff and whether there is a deal in the works for a lesser sentence if he makes enough restitution.

BK thanks for sharing your story in the notes. The 90s started for me being an assistant prosecutor in a small town. That ended abruptly when the sheriff threatened to kill me and my boss, (who did the sheriff's bidding) said they told him that he had to fire me. It's a long story...

I recorded it to my DVD burner from my DVR just this morning.

They are from the Joe Crosby Barn Playhouse. I am guessing they were taken during the late 1940's and early 1950's. I was so intrigued, I ended up looking at all of the sets. Each set contains one portrait of a young man with blond hair.....so Joe Crosby must have ended up with a LOT of copies of that pose! None of the plays or participants are identified.
I can figure out most of the shows, but some of them escape me. Perhaps other DR's would like to step back in time.

Christine Baranski is on UGLY BETTY tonight. She seems to be cut from the same mother mould as Patti Lupone in her guest shot.
-
I hope he had a happy life and never ran out of Vitalis for his super sexy hair.

DR JANE that's a terrible thing to do to a dead playwright.
;D She isn't always bad.

The question as always is WHY?
At least I think that's what DR ELMORE is talking about.
GRRRRRRRRRRRR the new series KINGS will be on opposite THE AMAZING RACE. :P

;D She isn't always bad.
Oh poor dear sweet DR JANE.....wait until she gets hold of a play you LOVE and casts all of her relatives and has her son do some original music for it. We had HAMLET in leather spinning on a roulette wheel....to his tunes.....

The question as always is WHY?
At least I think that's what DR ELMORE is talking about.
And as always, the answer is "Because we can."
-
I don't see any difference on Facebook.
See why I'd be such a lousy witness?

Come on, she has to have something decent once in awhile ;)
-
I went to Costco and got some water and Diet Coke and Fruity Snacks.
-
I also got a vat of Best Foods mayonnaise that should last me the next two years.
-
But I'm still REALLY full from Du-Par's eggs, bacon and pancakes, even though I only ate half of my short stack.
-
I'm just going to say very gently and kindly: WHY THE HELL ARE WE STILL ON PAGE FIVE??? DON'T MAKE ME GET OUT THE WIRE HANGER.
-
I'm going to finish a Claude Lelouch movie and then, for a change of pace, I'll watch a Claude Lelouch movie.
-
After the Claude Lelouch movie I might watch a Claude Lelouch movie.
-
I will single-handedly take us to page six and there will be a bitch-slapping to be reckoned with.
-
We'd best get some good postin' goin' on, that's all I have to say.
-
And yet, I will say more.
-
And I will keep saying more until we have some postin' goin' on.
-
Time Machine is doing its hourly backup.
-
My DH and I went hiking today. If only he'd had the camera recording on video, I could have posted me falling into the creek.
-
I don't see any difference on Facebook.
See why I'd be such a lousy witness?
It's just in the planning/preview stage, DR LAURA.

More Joe Crosby Barn Playhouse Dancing.

That might be Jack Cassidy.
-
Wow. Look at those big tassels.

Is it just me or does the guy with the cape look like Jack Cassidy?
-
That might be Jack Cassidy.
That's exactly what I was wondering! ;)

DR Jennifer I don't know what a soft laser is. I'm sort of a traditionalist when it comes to burns. I use the antibiotic ointment until they are completely healed & there is no risk of infection. Then I use vitamin E oil to reduce the scaring.
DR Jane a soft laser is a small device that you can use on your face (to build collagen, reduce wrinkles). But you can also use it on scars (which is why i got it). And you can use it on bruises/burns.
I did use the antibiotic ointment for a while after i was sure there would be no infection. But i'm not sure what to put it on it now.
-
He looks like Cassidy to me.
DR Laura did you hurt yourself? If I go into the creek on my hike I'm going to be pretty cold my the time I return to the car-lol.
-
Jennifer, try E for the scaring. You may have to live with one. You won't really know until your skin grows back.
-
No, I didn't get hurt. But my DH laughed and laughed. No witnesses, either.
-
Laughing is good :)
-
Totally Jack Cassidy - that's the title of my next novel.
-
Wow. Look at those big tassels.
He is toting a hefty sword as well....I noticed.
-
I don't know what he was doing at Joe Crosby's Barn Playhouse, but everybody's got to be someplace.
-
I think the two people who painted those flats should have met in the middle.
-
Ah.....one story about Joe Crosby's Playhouse....it seems it was on the grounds of the upper New York State Hotel Sagamore.
http://bobs-epilogue.blogspot.com/2006/06/jew-and-irishman.html
-
Or should have started in the middle and painted out.
-
One or the other DR LAURA....one or the other....
-
I gotta tell you.
-
And we know everyone is going to WUSSBURGER within the hour, so will this really be our first six page day in two years? Stay tuned...
-
Slow day at Black Rock.
-
What is everybody wearing?
-
Blue jeans, white socks, red and white striped long sleeved button down shirt.
-
I could post that it is a slow news day in Phoenix: John Travolta's plane is parked at a Phoenix municipal airport.
But that would be a waste of a post.
-
Jammies.
-
And we know everyone is going to WUSSBURGER within the hour, so will this really be our first six page day in two years? Stay tuned...
Don't worry, BK...we WILL get past Page 6!

-
What is everybody wearing?
Black sneakers, white footie-socks, new blue jeans, new Hawaiian shirt that has a dark background with palm fronds and other assorted large leaves on it. :)
-
What is everybody wearing?
A big tassel.
-
I am home from choir rehearsal and very tired and cranky.
-
Cheer up vibes to DR DAW ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
PAGE SEVEN DANCE!!
-
Blue Jeans and a Late Show with David Letterman sweatshirt
-
Well, it's time for me to leave work and head home.
Bye...for now. :)
-
A VERY big tassel.
-
;D If I were with you, we could do some happy skipping together, DR Cillaliz!!!!! :D
-
That always cheers a body up.
-
That might be Jack Cassidy.
That's exactly what I was wondering! ;)
Wearing that cape and those boots? Of course it's Jack Cassidy!
-
I'm not wearing any tassels at all.
--Oh...wait a minute...
never mind...

Okay, need someone to do an avatar test - I believe we've fixed the problem of the teeny-tiny avatars and that they can now be bigger, as they used to be. Can someone try uploading a new avatar?
-
Facebook has changed its look again and now, instead of "Status," it's asking for your thoughts or something stupid. I think it's spinach and the hell with it.
Such a day it's been!
-
I've got nothing on but ITunes.
-

I just uploaded the little one I have now
-
My Facebook has not changed. I don't think.
-
I renamed it and reuploaded it and it's still tiny
-
My Facebook has not changed. I don't think.
Mine hasn't changed yet, either; but there is a link at the top describing the changes which will appear.
Mine still asks for my status, as "What you you doing right now?"

I don't think mine has changed either

Gabe is growing up

Good Evening!
I've been in Charleston for only 36 hours, but it feels like I've already been here a week. -Which is a good thing. I had a very productive day, and then attended the attended the opening night of the theater's production of PICASSO AT THE LAPIN AGILE - which was very good. I would stay and respond and post, but I really do need to sleep. And soon. À demain...
Goodnight.
-
Gabe has such "old soul" eyes!
-
Had a very full evening oif entertainment. I began by watching almost two solid hours of bonus features on THE LAST METRO. My favorite was almost a half hour with famous Oscar-winning cinematographer Nestor Almendros. Loved hearing him talk about the nine movies he made with Truffaut. He has been much missed in the movie world.
-
UGLY BETTY had an entertaining outing.
Yes, Baranski was cut from much the same intolerant cloth as Lupone from season one. Still, I enjoyed Betty standing up to her (finally).
-
Gabe has such "old soul" eyes!
Yes he does. I may be seeing him this weekend. Not sure yet.
-
GREY'S ANATOMY had some good and bad moments.
I hated the Chief acting like a big baby. I LOVED Alex finally getting some recognition and the elation on his face was priceless. I am SO tired of Callie's on-going search for love. The three siblings with their stomach cancer were really interesting; loved the ebbing and flowing dynamic between them.
-
Then I watched tonight's BONES off the DVR. I liked the case, and I didn't guess the murderer. I wonder if the English intern is going to be the permanent one?
-
Heading downstairs now to go to bed.
Good night!
-
Loved the notes today, BK- interesting to hear an in-depth version of the story. For having gone through some incredibly challenging times, you managed to pull through, and your outlook is remarkable. What incredible experiences you've had!
I'm a bad MT fan, and I have to confess that I've never seen WSS, so...my casting shall go unspoken.
I performed my recital just over a month ago, and I've just received the CD recently. If anyone wants to hear something from the program, I'd be happy to email a file! I haaaaaave....
Non piu mesta, from La Cenerentola, Rossini
La Flute de Pan, from Chansons de Bilitis, Debussy
Le Manoir de Rosemonde, Duparc
Von Ewiger Liebe, Brahms
Nocturne, Barber
Secrets of the Old, Barber
Toothbrush Time, Bolcom
Tale of the Oyster, Porter
And in other news...nothing. It's spring break, and for the first time in 5 years, I've decided to actually take a break rather than work. It's been wonderful! I've gone to the gym every day with my mom, played with my dog, and read like it's my job. Tonight, my parents met the parents of my boyfriend of almost 2 years. Things went well! I don't know why I was so nervous, but it was nice, and delicious pizza was had by all!

My recital partner, Frank Mavilia, and I.

Swishy! You look totally faboo!
-
oobaf?
-
Swishy! You used to be a little girl!
-
And what a lovely young woman you have turned out to be.
-
Welcome, two guests. Please join in. We are a friendly bunch.
-
Does anybody have a Skype account?
Online, not phone.
-
Not me, but I think Jane mentioned skype once.
-
How wonderful to see Swishy back here and looking so beautiful!
-
Notes are written and took a LONG time - I only covered half of what I wanted to, and I'll do the other half in a day or two.
-
I got my Illya Darling Playbill today. And I heard a rough mix of the opening number which has never been issued before - and it really makes me want to remix the whole album and get rid of all that reverb on reverb, but there's no way to justify what that would cost and how much trouble it would be.
-
I tell you, we have an acute case of WUSSBURGERING, which, I suppose, is better than having an augly case of WUSSBURGERING.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
Thanks to our handy-dandy calendar, I have remembered that my darling daughter's birthday is Monday and so I shall send off a present for her tomorrow.
-
Let's all sing the Cow Song from Gypsy.
-
Page eight - sad, isn't it?
-
Page nine would be ever so much nicer.
-
Then again, I don't feel like making fifteen more posts.
-
Loved BK's notes again. I love the stories.
( for me: the time is always nigh, but my lack of patience ruins it)
-
Dear DAW, The moon was wonderful tonight, I stopped in the parking lot and just looked for a long time.
I should go buy Space Cowboys for the weekend. I remember Hamburger Helper, do they still have it in the markets? That seems like a long time ago for me.
-
I'm tired.
-
Hamburger Helper - I think my ex-wife tried to make me eat that once. It wasn't the reason for the dee-vorce, though.
-
I think tomarrow night, I will go to Artnight Pasadena , all the galleries are hosting free events and music, and will try to take some pictures and post them this weekend.
-
I'm up at this time of night because I nap when I get home from work at 4:30, or else I would never make it past 9PM
-
Well, at least SOMEONE is keeping the home fries burning.
-
word of the day: (this one is really good ). My life has had it's moments of acedia, but something always happens and snaps me out of it.
-
bk - FANTASTIC notes. Thanks for sharing. You truly are amazing and a model for all.
-
Tonight, I watched "Grey's Anatomy" and "Private Practice," and now I'm watching "Ugly Betty."
-
one last post as this building is complete silent by midnight. Looking forward to the cd's next week, can't wait to get them.
good night everyone.
-
Good TV watching! ;D
-

WE'VE REACHED PAGE NINE!

good night George, good night moon
I work for a library system and we've gotten many copies of "Good Night Moon" over the years. We've also gotten the parody:
