Well, you've read the notes, the notes were workshopped over a ten-year period, and now it is time for you to post until the workshopped cows come home.

Jan, if I remember correctly the movie was based on Ann Rule’s book THE STRANGER BESIDE ME.  As I remember, it was fairly accurate.

Of course, you didn’t really need to spice up the story.  Ted’s story was pretty shocking as is.

Well, I need to go to sleep.  Today, the family is getting together at noon for our weekly family dinner for the first time in probably three weeks.  Then tonight, I'm going too see (I got free tickets, so I'm a patron not an usher!) Olympia Little Theatre's production of Men On Boats (http://www.olympialittletheater.org/shows/men-on-boats/).  I'm really looking forward to this!

Have a good day, all!

I went through the rest of the Shrek book and there are over a dozen things for the programmer to fix. I think most of them are simple matters, and a few of them I could probably even manage myself. But making everything right is covered in his fee, and it wouldn’t do the community at large any favors if we didn’t get things corrected in his master files.

It was my introduction to Bizet. I must have been 6 or 7 when I saw the rerun. Always good for a laugh, especially when Phil Silvers does his one-man version of the show.

TOD:

Sushi is the Japanese word for rice. Rice is not good for my blood sugar, so I try to avoid eating too much of it. But I love a good dragon roll or anything with deep-fried soft-shell crab in it.

Sashimi is the cuts of raw seafood. Love it. Can't afford it often, so it's a rare treat. Eel used to be a favorite, but the sugary sauce makes it a little too sweet for my tastes nowadays. I think I prefer fatty tuna. Salmon can also be quite good. Been eating it for decades.

Annabelle and I made our patrol.  After disposing the litter, we made a trip to the basement to drop off the cans and plastics.  Then we rode the elevator to the first floor so she could see what was happening on 82nd Street.  One of the first floor neighbors came out and frightened her, so she ran to the stairs and up to the second floor with me in pursuit.  Now we are hom,e and she's amusing Thatch with her morning adventure.

Last night around 9:30 I started hearing a barking dog.  When I went to bed, I could still hear him barking, so I got up, went to the window, and opened it.  Annabelle joined me, and we looked up and down the street for the dog.  I finally realized it was in this car parked in front of Holy Trinity.  When it was silent, I could hear several young men in the car with it talking, but not what they were saying.  I debated calling the precinct, decided not to, and went back to bed.

I began learning to like sushi (sashimi) in my last year in Los Angeles. It took several times and a little guidance from knowledgeable friends, but in addition to California rolls and other such as starter sushi, I grew to actually look forward to whitefish, yellowtail, tuna, and salmon. I've had eel and liked it okay, too, but I never think of it because I'm so rarely in a Japanese jernt. Most of what I indulge in is from the sushi stand at the supermarket.

If you like lox and bagel, think of salmon as the Japanese version and go for it.

For people who don't love sushi. There are definitely many sushi rolls that are quite mainstream. I would look at the menu beforehand for wherever you are going and make a list of the ones that seem okay.

TOD:

I love sushi! I think a person's resistance to sushi is mostly psychological. If the idea of eating raw fish grosses you out, then I don't think recommendations for any particular sushi is going to help. That said, salmon is probably the most flavorful fish. Yellowtail is also wonderful. Don't dunk the rice part in soy sauce because it absorbs too much - just dip the fish. I also order my sushi without wasabi (horseradish) because I think it's too overpowering and I can't taste the fish.

It always amazed me how the professor on "Gilligan's island" could create amazing things like a working sound system so they could put this Hamlet-Carmen show on, but never used that ability to invent a boat or canoe or a sturdy raft off the island.

The Brooklyn shelter has murdered two:
one-year old husky puppy named Ecko; he was brought to the Brooklyn ACC by the police as an owner surrender on Feb. 10.  The ACC decided to kill him on Feb. 14 for behavioral concerns: a scared, frightened puppy  in a terrifying place acting in self-defense and in need of a good trainer.  You can tell no one at the ACC cared if he lived or died: only one intake photo of a whale-eyed frightened baby and no videos.

seven-year old Nia; small dog, only 39 pounds, condemned for behavioral concerns, no matter how many positive comments and videos she got from the volunteers.  She entered the Brooklyn slaughterhouse on Feb. 7, and was condemned to death one week later, Feb. 14.  She is adorable in her videos:

Dear Mom and Dad,

I died today. You got tired of me and took me to the shelter. They were overcrowded and I drew an unlucky number. I am in a black plastic bag in a landfill now. Some other puppy will get the barely used leash you left. My collar was dirty and too small, but the lady took it off before she sent me to the Rainbow Bridge .

Would I still be at home if I hadn't chewed your shoe? I didn't know what it was, but it was leather, and it was on the floor. I was just playing. You forgot to get puppy toys.

Would I still be at home if I had been housebroken? Rubbing my nose in what I did only made me ashamed that I had to go at all. There are books and obedience teachers that would have taught you how to teach me to go to the door.

Would I still be at home if I hadn't brought fleas into the house? Without anti-flea medicine, I couldn't get them off of me after you left me in the yard for days.

Would I still be at home if I hadn't barked? I was only saying, "I'm scared, I'm lonely, I'm here, I'm here! I want to be your best friend."

Would I still be at home if I had made you happy? Hitting me didn't make me learn how.

Would I still be at home if you had taken the time to care for me and to teach manners to me? You didn't pay attention to me after the first week or so, but I spent all my time waiting for you to love me.

I died today.
Love, Your Puppy

This day has been hell.  Yesterday morning an adorable 4- to 6-month old puppy, Daisy, was taken to the Brooklyn ACC.  Hours later, the ACC put out an emergency request for help.  Daisy was suffering from a prolapsed vagina and uterus, the result of some asshole's attempt to breed her with a large dog 2-3 weeks ago.  The damage was caused when the dog pulled out and took her interior with him.  Then, the "breeder," who deserves euthanasia for this cruelty, dumped her as damaged goods rather than seek emergency treatment and this poor pup was left for weeks on the streets of Brooklyn with over half of her uterus hanging out.  I cannot even imagine the pain she was in.  I also cannot believe the Brooklyn shelter waited hours to request help for her.

Well, a group called Wizard of Paws rescued Daisy from the Brooklyn ACC for emergency surgery last night, and she died today.  She was emaciated, and the vet estimated she hadn't eaten for a week.  There were too many infections.  This breaks my heart.

Back from a fun but lightly attended workshop - six people in all, but that gave me more time to work specifics and I'd forgotten we had to end early at 12:30.  Then it was Barone's for some pizza.

I did get my roses trimmed today. Temperatures were pleasant. The fig tree is producing leaves on the old branches, instead of coming up solely from the roots. I think it's time to get some plants in the ground. But the temperatures are still dipping into the low 40s next week at night.

I just watched the first ten minutes of a horrible movie and shut it off.  It involves a - now wait for it - high school girl who is a journalist for the school paper who has to solve a mystery.  No, I am not kidding here.  It's like a Lifetime movie - horribly directed and acted - but the fun part is the girl herself is so annoying in a "now" way that everything is simply irritating.  THAT is why I love my Adriana Hofstetter.

When we call a doctors office instead of the recordecd message telling you to call 911 in an emergency it begins with a measles protocol.  If you call a hospital it too immediately gives a message regarding measles.

This is just so bizarre, so one of those things that if it were in as script you'd say "Oh, come on." But it's now confirmed. My sister-in-law, Lady Joann Macbeth of Cranford has fro years had the same attorney as the theatre company here in NY that I've been having a legal hassle with since 2013.  (Lady Joann is she of conniving as far back as 2008 about beneficiaries and such, and not liking that as a CPA, my dad always had me handle all tax details and any letters for him, while my brother was great  in finding good interest rates which was something he enjoyed following.  Joann inexplicably seemed bothered that I'd be going through all the accounts, keeping track of their deductions, etc.  I never questioned any interest rate reaesrach  my brother did, as he seemed great at finding the best interest rates, and Dad seemed very happy that each of his sons were helping out and he didn't have to pay anyone for advice.)

I won't say the name, but it's a NY theater company whose head person inexplicably got them involved in a matter that shouldn't have ever involved the company at all.  Since the head person is a good friend and past collaborator of Skip's, and indeed seems to remain so,  it all made even less sense that this theater company stuck its nose into a matter which should not have involved them.

Title: Re: WORKING THE WORKSHOP
Post by: FJL on February 16, 2019, 11:30:12 PM
Over the years, there had been personal family info this company seemed to find out, about family members also, and I'd been trying to figure out how their lawyer knew this information.  It would also seem that something might be in an email to this theater company, and not long after my brother's wife Lady Joann Macbeth of Cranford, NJ would know about it - and it would slip out from a question to me from my mom in Florida.

The attorneys who handle this theater company are Neil and Dan.  I've known about Neil for years, but just became aware recently that Dan was just as key in their law team, but somehow Dan's name had never been mentioned.

Title: Re: WORKING THE WORKSHOP
Post by: FJL on February 16, 2019, 11:31:46 PM
So I just casually looked up Dan in the public attorney registration list to see who he is, and his NJ address was also here, that he lived in a town called Scotch Plains, NJ.   It happens my brother and Lady Joann Macbeth hot married in Scotch Plains, which is one town over from Cranford, where Lady Joann Macbeth of Cranford, NJ resides with my brother.  And the synagogue they go to is in Scotch Plains, NJ.

And Marcia, the wife of Attorney Dan, happens to be on the Board at that very synagogue which Lady Joann Macbeth attends with my brother.

I write to Attorney Neil and cc's his law partner Attorney Dan, mentioning that information seemed to be getting from my emails to Neil to Joann, and checking that I assume information has not been getting to my sister-in-law because she and Dan go to the same synagogue, right?

Title: Re: WORKING THE WORKSHOP
Post by: FJL on February 16, 2019, 11:36:37 PM
Dan immediately "blocks" my emails.  Long and short:  Neil and Dan both do legal work for this theater company, Dan is advising Lady Joann Macbeth and indeed had written a detailed email for Joann to send me claiming that I was harassing her and my brother, which was confounding since at the time, my brother had been in regular contact with me with hotel info, flight info, rental car info, planning a four-dat trip to Florida for the three of us together to visit our parents.  So Joann was emailing that she felt harassed by my phone calls  even while my brother was actively planning this trip (the plans, flights, hotel, rental car location, were mostly in faxes that my brother wrote to me.  The weird detailed email from Lady Joann Macbeth drafted by theater Lawyer Dan came on May 9 and the trip was on May 19-23, just ten days later.)

Then, a wild email from the head of that theater company came on May 16, in the middle of all this.  That email claimed I was harassing his wife Linda, who knew me for 25 years then, and Linda felt threatened by a phone conversation that lasted under 40 seconds.

Then, in spring 2018, collaborator Julie (who I suspect has always not cared for the labor process of writing but loves having written) decides in a lawyerly long email that she finds an average 4-5 emails in a week harassing to her.  That word again!  But Julie is a person who thought nothing of sending our producer for a reading 12 or 13 emails in a day.

Who knows?

Olympia Little Theatre's production of Men On Boats (http://www.olympialittletheater.org/shows/men-on-boats/).  I'm really looking forward to this!

Have a good day, all!

Tonight, I saw Men On Boats and it was really good!  It's about the 10 men who were the first to travel by boat through the Grand Canyon.  What's unique about this play is that all the characters are played by women, and that's specified by the author.

DR JohnG, whenever I listen to Carmen, I never think of Gilligan's Island.  I think of what a genius Bizet was and how I wish I had an iota of his talent.

It was my introduction to Bizet. I must have been 6 or 7 when I saw the rerun. Always good for a laugh, especially when Phil Silvers does his one-man version of the show.

My very first acting experience was at Western Washington University when I was in the chorus of their production of the opera, Carmen in 1987.  I loved Broadway-style musicals before that, but this started me on the path to performing and teching in community theater. ;D

Jane - well, this development solves some mysteries (but so strange that they all went to the same synagogue as one iff the attorneys.  That has to be a total coincidence):

how info was getting from this theater company in midtown NYC to my sister-in-law in NJ, and how the theater company knew details about me that weren't secret but which I knew I'd never had any reason to have shared publicly;

and recently, how Julie had info about my brother's family that I know I certainly never shared with her, as I had no need for her or anyone to have any "dirt" on my brother even when the Fred-Julie joint work was going well.  Julie had met Joann and my brother a few times,  as a friend of my brother's seemed to have encores tickets near Julie's ticket  for a while and they'd get that friend's tickets at times way back).  But the family detail had happened years ago, and it might have been of interest to Joann's lawyer - but how it got into Julie's very legal-reading  e-mail to me last April was so strange that wrote to  Julie if she'd been in touch with anyone in my brother's family - and she hadn't, she wrote back.

But if all had the same lawyer(s) drafting emails for them, the access to the info seems more direct.
