Well, you've read the notes, the notes were workshopped over a ten-year period, and now it is time for you to post until the workshopped cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ONOMASTIC!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
DR Jan I remeber the movie with Mark Harmon.
-
I also thohght he was good in it.
-
Topic of the Day: sushi = :P
Not a fan...at all.
-
T.O.D.
The closest I come to eating sushi is fish and chips.
-
Jan, if I remember correctly the movie was based on Ann Rule’s book THE STRANGER BESIDE ME. As I remember, it was fairly accurate.
-
Of course, you didn’t really need to spice up the story. Ted’s story was pretty shocking as is.
-
Ann Rule actually knew Ted. They worked together at the Crisis Hotline.
-
Tomorrow is condo shopping day. Plus, I am going to see one house, as well.
-
I shouldn’t look at that house, because I fell in love with the photos.
-
Tomorrow is condo shopping day. Plus, I am going to see one house, as well.
Good luck, Tom! Get a good one! :D

Thanks, George.
-
The first one I am looking at is one block away.
-
It is directly across the street from the entrance to the park.
-
The only sushi I can eat is vegetarian sushi - carrots, cucumber and sometimes celery wrapped in rice and nori to look like sushi.
-
Across from the park would be fabulous in the spring.
-
I don’t even like the rice they wrap it in, and I love rice.
-
It is directly across the street from the entrance to the park.
Nice location.
Good luck tomorrow.
-
Across from the park would be fabulous in the spring.
Yes, but I am only a block away from the park now.
-
We only eat vegetarian sushi.
-
Well, it’s been fun, but goodnight all.
-
Raw fish would be okay if we were still in caves but if have the ability to cook it, why wouldn't you?
-
It is directly across the street from the entrance to the park.
Nice location.
Good luck tomorrow.
Unfortunately it is just too small. 582 square feet.
-
Jane, have you found any other veggie sushi than mine?

:o Darn!

Well, I need to go to sleep. Today, the family is getting together at noon for our weekly family dinner for the first time in probably three weeks. Then tonight, I'm going too see (I got free tickets, so I'm a patron not an usher!) Olympia Little Theatre's production of Men On Boats (http://www.olympialittletheater.org/shows/men-on-boats/). I'm really looking forward to this!
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all.
-
First in the East. On a Saturday.
I wasn’t even tortured by the feline contingent this morning, but I woke at my usual time anyway and I could tell there would be no getting back to sleep.
-
So here I am. And I’m feeling tempted to indulge in a Sausage McMuffin or something this morning.
-
I went through the rest of the Shrek book and there are over a dozen things for the programmer to fix. I think most of them are simple matters, and a few of them I could probably even manage myself. But making everything right is covered in his fee, and it wouldn’t do the community at large any favors if we didn’t get things corrected in his master files.
-
Good morning, all!
-
After I fed them and went back to bed, the cats let me sleep in peace.
-
I had dreams about working at Barnes and Noble. It seems a whole other lifetime ago.
-
DR JohnG, whenever I listen to Carmen, I never think of Gilligan's Island. I think of what a genius Bizet was and how I wish I had an iota of his talent.
-
Well, that check to my HMO, mailed on Jan. 18, finally cleared the bank. What the hell took so long?
-
Good morning.
-
I was very busy yesterday. We opened the church kitchen to a group that cooks big pots of soup and delivers them to some of the churches where ICE drops off refugees. It is the passion of one of the new congregation members.
-
I suppose some of our church members don't want our facility to be used for such a purpose. But, hey, these are hungry people, and Jesus said to feed the hungry.
-
I still had squash left from last week's vegetable box, so I took that over with me.
-
I chopped a lot of squash. A LOT.
-
I got four posts out of that story.
-
TOD: I love sushi. You can catch a lot of crayfish with that stuff.
-
You all knew I was going to say that.
-
Good morning, all.
-
DR JohnG, whenever I listen to Carmen, I never think of Gilligan's Island. I think of what a genius Bizet was and how I wish I had an iota of his talent.
It was my introduction to Bizet. I must have been 6 or 7 when I saw the rerun. Always good for a laugh, especially when Phil Silvers does his one-man version of the show.
-
TOD:
Sushi is the Japanese word for rice. Rice is not good for my blood sugar, so I try to avoid eating too much of it. But I love a good dragon roll or anything with deep-fried soft-shell crab in it.
Sashimi is the cuts of raw seafood. Love it. Can't afford it often, so it's a rare treat. Eel used to be a favorite, but the sugary sauce makes it a little too sweet for my tastes nowadays. I think I prefer fatty tuna. Salmon can also be quite good. Been eating it for decades.
-
off to the day.
-
Workshop vibes for MR BK.
-
I look forward to DR GEORGE's theatre report.
DR TCB - I hope you find something you like dwelling-wise tomorrow.
-
I like DR JOHN G's description of the CARMEN he saw....
-
I do not like sushi or even the IDEA of sushi....so I cannot comment on the TOD.

Annabelle and I made our patrol. After disposing the litter, we made a trip to the basement to drop off the cans and plastics. Then we rode the elevator to the first floor so she could see what was happening on 82nd Street. One of the first floor neighbors came out and frightened her, so she ran to the stairs and up to the second floor with me in pursuit. Now we are hom,e and she's amusing Thatch with her morning adventure.
-
Last night around 9:30 I started hearing a barking dog. When I went to bed, I could still hear him barking, so I got up, went to the window, and opened it. Annabelle joined me, and we looked up and down the street for the dog. I finally realized it was in this car parked in front of Holy Trinity. When it was silent, I could hear several young men in the car with it talking, but not what they were saying. I debated calling the precinct, decided not to, and went back to bed.
-
Good morning!
-
We're off to a good start --almost page 3 at 10:02 am Eastern!
-
There'll be less work for TCB tonight!
-
Not to mention George!
-
One more
-
THREE!
-
Wow, TCB! I wonder what your sister thought when she found out about her former classmate!
-
I began learning to like sushi (sashimi) in my last year in Los Angeles. It took several times and a little guidance from knowledgeable friends, but in addition to California rolls and other such as starter sushi, I grew to actually look forward to whitefish, yellowtail, tuna, and salmon. I've had eel and liked it okay, too, but I never think of it because I'm so rarely in a Japanese jernt. Most of what I indulge in is from the sushi stand at the supermarket.
If you like lox and bagel, think of salmon as the Japanese version and go for it.
-
It is directly across the street from the entrance to the park.
Nice location.
Good luck tomorrow.
Unfortunately it is just too small. 582 square feet.
That is small. How big is your apartment?
-
TOD: I love sushi. You can catch a lot of crayfish with that stuff.
:D
-
I love going out for sushi. But do not care for the raw fish. I mostly eat sushi rolls. I love them!
For people who don't love sushi. There are definitely many sushi rolls that are quite mainstream. I would look at the menu beforehand for wherever you are going and make a list of the ones that seem okay.
-
I chopped a lot of squash. A LOT.
I am glad you found a place for all of your squash. Were you your only church member helping the group cook?
-
I got four posts out of that story.
Job well, done.

I thought that, too. After his divorce, he wanted to move in with me to be in the City and away from his dad.

I'm up, I'm up - maybe five hours of sleep - went to bed early for me but could not fall asleep.

TOD:
I love sushi! I think a person's resistance to sushi is mostly psychological. If the idea of eating raw fish grosses you out, then I don't think recommendations for any particular sushi is going to help. That said, salmon is probably the most flavorful fish. Yellowtail is also wonderful. Don't dunk the rice part in soy sauce because it absorbs too much - just dip the fish. I also order my sushi without wasabi (horseradish) because I think it's too overpowering and I can't taste the fish.

So sad and a shame he couldn't get away from his father on his own.

Vegetarians eat vegetable sushi. I think raw or partially cooked fish tastes terrible.

I shall now be on my way to do the workshop, after which I'll eat, hopefully pick up packages, and then come home.

I did my elbow PT exercises and am now eating oatmeal-very exciting.

Can't you get real eggsandwiches in CT either?

I have always said I refer to sushi as "bait"
-
I don't care for fish at all with the exception of starkist light tuna packed in water and fish and chips with lots of lemon and tartar sauce
-
The idea of eating raw fish us absolutely repugnant to me, I cannot even watch others at it

Oh of course. But the Sausage (and egg) McMuffin is a fine thing in and of itself.

DR JohnG, whenever I listen to Carmen, I never think of Gilligan's Island. I think of what a genius Bizet was and how I wish I had an iota of his talent.
I think you have as much talent as Bizet, they're just different talents.
-
It always amazed me how the professor on "Gilligan's island" could create amazing things like a working sound system so they could put this Hamlet-Carmen show on, but never used that ability to invent a boat or canoe or a sturdy raft off the island.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKMOClN9ITg
Too bad Lucy Ricardo wasn't on the island. They could have used her for a coat check.
-
Lucy Ricardo would have them all off that island before you could say Don Loper!
-
One of my favorite actors, Bruno Ganz, has died. He was in several wonderful movies, including The Marquise of O, Bread and Tulips, The American Friend and Wings of Desire. His performance as Hitler in Downfall was amazing.

I have 14 or 15 more days.

The Brooklyn shelter has murdered two:
one-year old husky puppy named Ecko; he was brought to the Brooklyn ACC by the police as an owner surrender on Feb. 10. The ACC decided to kill him on Feb. 14 for behavioral concerns: a scared, frightened puppy in a terrifying place acting in self-defense and in need of a good trainer. You can tell no one at the ACC cared if he lived or died: only one intake photo of a whale-eyed frightened baby and no videos.
seven-year old Nia; small dog, only 39 pounds, condemned for behavioral concerns, no matter how many positive comments and videos she got from the volunteers. She entered the Brooklyn slaughterhouse on Feb. 7, and was condemned to death one week later, Feb. 14. She is adorable in her videos:

This was written by Alan Hill:
Dear Mom and Dad,
I died today. You got tired of me and took me to the shelter. They were overcrowded and I drew an unlucky number. I am in a black plastic bag in a landfill now. Some other puppy will get the barely used leash you left. My collar was dirty and too small, but the lady took it off before she sent me to the Rainbow Bridge .
Would I still be at home if I hadn't chewed your shoe? I didn't know what it was, but it was leather, and it was on the floor. I was just playing. You forgot to get puppy toys.
Would I still be at home if I had been housebroken? Rubbing my nose in what I did only made me ashamed that I had to go at all. There are books and obedience teachers that would have taught you how to teach me to go to the door.
Would I still be at home if I hadn't brought fleas into the house? Without anti-flea medicine, I couldn't get them off of me after you left me in the yard for days.
Would I still be at home if I hadn't barked? I was only saying, "I'm scared, I'm lonely, I'm here, I'm here! I want to be your best friend."
Would I still be at home if I had made you happy? Hitting me didn't make me learn how.
Would I still be at home if you had taken the time to care for me and to teach manners to me? You didn't pay attention to me after the first week or so, but I spent all my time waiting for you to love me.
I died today.
Love, Your Puppy

This day has been hell. Yesterday morning an adorable 4- to 6-month old puppy, Daisy, was taken to the Brooklyn ACC. Hours later, the ACC put out an emergency request for help. Daisy was suffering from a prolapsed vagina and uterus, the result of some asshole's attempt to breed her with a large dog 2-3 weeks ago. The damage was caused when the dog pulled out and took her interior with him. Then, the "breeder," who deserves euthanasia for this cruelty, dumped her as damaged goods rather than seek emergency treatment and this poor pup was left for weeks on the streets of Brooklyn with over half of her uterus hanging out. I cannot even imagine the pain she was in. I also cannot believe the Brooklyn shelter waited hours to request help for her.
Well, a group called Wizard of Paws rescued Daisy from the Brooklyn ACC for emergency surgery last night, and she died today. She was emaciated, and the vet estimated she hadn't eaten for a week. There were too many infections. This breaks my heart.

Back from a fun but lightly attended workshop - six people in all, but that gave me more time to work specifics and I'd forgotten we had to end early at 12:30. Then it was Barone's for some pizza.

Need some of those vibes. Dad’s blood sugar is crazy high, and Mom’s blood pressure is, too

It’s been a stressful week. My best friend from college lost his father, a wonderful man, this week.

Need some of those vibes. Dad’s blood sugar is crazy high, and Mom’s blood pressure is, too
VIBES FOR STABLE BLOOD SUGAR AND BLOOD PRESSURE!
Coping vibes for you!
-
My condolences to your college friend on the loss of his parents.
-
My sister Annaliese has taken both parents to a clinic, but I don't know if it's for Mom or both.
-
Listening to the Broadway recording of Frozen. This may be the only time I listen to it. Decent singers, average to below-average material. I'll happily let it go.
-
I did get my roses trimmed today. Temperatures were pleasant. The fig tree is producing leaves on the old branches, instead of coming up solely from the roots. I think it's time to get some plants in the ground. But the temperatures are still dipping into the low 40s next week at night.
-
Got the blurb for the back cover of the new book. I'll include it in the notes and then you'll know the title.
-
It's a fun blurb.
-
I liked it.
-
A lot.
-
Page four? Really?
-
Anyone for page five?
-
Anyone still wear a hat?
-
I'll watch a motion picture at some point soon.
-
My sister Annaliese has taken both parents to a clinic, but I don't know if it's for Mom or both.
You are very lucky your sister is close and can do this. I hope both your mother and father went to the clinic.

Yay.

Anyone still wear a hat?
Almost every day ;)
-
I ate too much junk today.
-
I just bought two more hats. I wear them all the time.
-
Good for you.
-
Well today was asoup kitchen day but I begged off. My partner missed the last three months and I had a little t of errands do asked if she coukd take thismonth
-
I needed to get blood work done but cleverly put the script in a secure location
-
So I had to drive out to my doctor yogurt a new one and as a result didn't get to the lab until nearly 10:30, by then the place was packed ( it opens at 7 and takes appointments , which I couldn't make being sans script)
-
So I wS there for over an hour before I was called
-
The phlebotomist was excellent though,
-
No pain at all, no bruising and 5 vials filled in record time
-
Then, since it was now after 12 and I had been fasting gif the test I went home and made myself a couple of over easy eggs and sausages

Vibes for the parents of DR JOHN G.
-
Coping vibes for DR ELMORE.....all of these cases are tragic and heartbreaking.
-
Yes DR VIXMOM let someone else do something now and then.
-
Very excited to see the book title in tomorrow's notes!
-
Then Vixdad and I went up to Costco to see our optometrist
-
After that we went to a little creperie about 30 miles away
-
We had lovely crepes, his ham and cheese, mine chicken spinach and mushroom
-
Both served with nice salads
-
Vixdad enjoyed a cafe au lait while they made a special decaf macchiato for me
-
When we got home we chatted with the Vixter a bit
-
Home from dancing. Got a text that the folks are home.
-
Then we researched some photographers and I chatted with one of the photographers who responded to my email
-
Time to ketchup

I remember seeing that in the movies when I was a youngun

Jack Lemmon is so wonderfully wicked chewing the scenery like mad
-
Good night all.
-
DR Vixmom where do you get your bloodwork done? All my doctors either do it in the office or send the script over to where I get the test done.
-
Page five? Really?
-
I just watched the first ten minutes of a horrible movie and shut it off. It involves a - now wait for it - high school girl who is a journalist for the school paper who has to solve a mystery. No, I am not kidding here. It's like a Lifetime movie - horribly directed and acted - but the fun part is the girl herself is so annoying in a "now" way that everything is simply irritating. THAT is why I love my Adriana Hofstetter.
-
There are now 59 confirmed cases of measles in the county I live in.
-
When we call a doctors office instead of the recordecd message telling you to call 911 in an emergency it begins with a measles protocol. If you call a hospital it too immediately gives a message regarding measles.

My friend Flip just messaged me because we saw this together in 1965. He used to sing a funny version of the Sweetheart Tree to me. Fun, sweet memories.

Four books automatically checked out from the library while I wasn't paying attention. I have now put a pause on the rest of my books in my queue.
-
I had better start reading.
-
This is just so bizarre, so one of those things that if it were in as script you'd say "Oh, come on." But it's now confirmed. My sister-in-law, Lady Joann Macbeth of Cranford has fro years had the same attorney as the theatre company here in NY that I've been having a legal hassle with since 2013. (Lady Joann is she of conniving as far back as 2008 about beneficiaries and such, and not liking that as a CPA, my dad always had me handle all tax details and any letters for him, while my brother was great in finding good interest rates which was something he enjoyed following. Joann inexplicably seemed bothered that I'd be going through all the accounts, keeping track of their deductions, etc. I never questioned any interest rate reaesrach my brother did, as he seemed great at finding the best interest rates, and Dad seemed very happy that each of his sons were helping out and he didn't have to pay anyone for advice.)
I won't say the name, but it's a NY theater company whose head person inexplicably got them involved in a matter that shouldn't have ever involved the company at all. Since the head person is a good friend and past collaborator of Skip's, and indeed seems to remain so, it all made even less sense that this theater company stuck its nose into a matter which should not have involved them.
-
Over the years, there had been personal family info this company seemed to find out, about family members also, and I'd been trying to figure out how their lawyer knew this information. It would also seem that something might be in an email to this theater company, and not long after my brother's wife Lady Joann Macbeth of Cranford, NJ would know about it - and it would slip out from a question to me from my mom in Florida.
The attorneys who handle this theater company are Neil and Dan. I've known about Neil for years, but just became aware recently that Dan was just as key in their law team, but somehow Dan's name had never been mentioned.
-
So I just casually looked up Dan in the public attorney registration list to see who he is, and his NJ address was also here, that he lived in a town called Scotch Plains, NJ. It happens my brother and Lady Joann Macbeth hot married in Scotch Plains, which is one town over from Cranford, where Lady Joann Macbeth of Cranford, NJ resides with my brother. And the synagogue they go to is in Scotch Plains, NJ.
And Marcia, the wife of Attorney Dan, happens to be on the Board at that very synagogue which Lady Joann Macbeth attends with my brother.
I write to Attorney Neil and cc's his law partner Attorney Dan, mentioning that information seemed to be getting from my emails to Neil to Joann, and checking that I assume information has not been getting to my sister-in-law because she and Dan go to the same synagogue, right?
-
Dan immediately "blocks" my emails. Long and short: Neil and Dan both do legal work for this theater company, Dan is advising Lady Joann Macbeth and indeed had written a detailed email for Joann to send me claiming that I was harassing her and my brother, which was confounding since at the time, my brother had been in regular contact with me with hotel info, flight info, rental car info, planning a four-dat trip to Florida for the three of us together to visit our parents. So Joann was emailing that she felt harassed by my phone calls even while my brother was actively planning this trip (the plans, flights, hotel, rental car location, were mostly in faxes that my brother wrote to me. The weird detailed email from Lady Joann Macbeth drafted by theater Lawyer Dan came on May 9 and the trip was on May 19-23, just ten days later.)
Then, a wild email from the head of that theater company came on May 16, in the middle of all this. That email claimed I was harassing his wife Linda, who knew me for 25 years then, and Linda felt threatened by a phone conversation that lasted under 40 seconds.
Then, in spring 2018, collaborator Julie (who I suspect has always not cared for the labor process of writing but loves having written) decides in a lawyerly long email that she finds an average 4-5 emails in a week harassing to her. That word again! But Julie is a person who thought nothing of sending our producer for a reading 12 or 13 emails in a day.
Who knows?
-
Well, I need to go to sleep.
Tonight, I saw Men On Boats and it was really good! It's about the 10 men who were the first to travel by boat through the Grand Canyon. What's unique about this play is that all the characters are played by women, and that's specified by the author.

Good evening.
-
I, also, was in the chorus of my college’s production of CARMEN. It was my first exposure to the Bizet opera.
-
I look forward to DR GEORGE's theatre report.
Well, to expand on what little I wrote before, I knew eight of the ten actresses, and they were all given their own moments throughout the show.

The set was really cool! It was a mural across the entire back of the stage. Only three of the women played a second character, so they were the only ones with costume changes. Otherwise, the costumes suggested old time outfits and were very effective.
-
I have loved it ever since.
-
Highly recommended...if you can go tomorrow, it's the last performance.

Hi, Tom.

I am sorry I am late to the party tonight, but I was suffering through a mini-non-crisis.

Jane - well, this development solves some mysteries (but so strange that they all went to the same synagogue as one iff the attorneys. That has to be a total coincidence):
how info was getting from this theater company in midtown NYC to my sister-in-law in NJ, and how the theater company knew details about me that weren't secret but which I knew I'd never had any reason to have shared publicly;
and recently, how Julie had info about my brother's family that I know I certainly never shared with her, as I had no need for her or anyone to have any "dirt" on my brother even when the Fred-Julie joint work was going well. Julie had met Joann and my brother a few times, as a friend of my brother's seemed to have encores tickets near Julie's ticket for a while and they'd get that friend's tickets at times way back). But the family detail had happened years ago, and it might have been of interest to Joann's lawyer - but how it got into Julie's very legal-reading e-mail to me last April was so strange that wrote to Julie if she'd been in touch with anyone in my brother's family - and she hadn't, she wrote back.
But if all had the same lawyer(s) drafting emails for them, the access to the info seems more direct.

It’s been a stressful week. My best friend from college lost his father, a wonderful man, this week.
Oh, no. My condolences to your friend. :(

Got the blurb for the back cover of the new book. I'll include it in the notes and then you'll know the title.
Cool!

There are now 59 confirmed cases of measles in the county I live in.

You're not the only one! ;D

Comfort vibes to John G from us, too.
