POGUE - EASTERN STANDARD TIME - PART TWO
Why have the Pogues moved, you ask? I knew the obscenely inflated real estate market in LA could not last forever. So I noodled with my business manager and we figured we could sell our LA house for enough to buy a house here outright with plenty of money left over to add to our current savings that we could continue to live in the style to which we've become accustomed without either of us having to work again if we so desired. We so desire and both of us will continue to work...we just don't have to. My artistic manager is all for the idea, realizing that I don't have to be in LA to do what I do. But I won't have to scramble after jobs I don't want to do anyway and plan to concentrate on a lot of different writing.
END OF PART TWO
Can anyone provide me with a good excuse for not going to the gym? You're thin enough and trim enough already!
DR TPUNK - your exercise program has taken YEARS off you!
POGUE...EASTERN STANDARD TIMECongrats! Trading the honking of cars for the honking of geese is one of the bonuses I discovered upon switching coasts myself.
...The reason I've been out of pocket for the last weeks is that my computer has been in boxes. The reason it has been in boxes is that everything I own has been in boxes. And the reason for that is...The Lovely Wife and I have moved! We are presently ensconced in Georgetown, Kentucky, about fifteen or so miles outside of Lexington in a lovely development with three lakes and abundant wildlife called Mallard Point. Every day outside you encounter white-tail deer...sometimes as many as a half a dozen at a sighting. Coyotes howl at night. Geese honk overhead. I've not seen any mallards or any other ducks, but then it is winter and the lake is semi-frozen.
End Part One.
...Three days after departing sunny LA, I've been shovelling ice off my driveway....Ah, yes, one of the other advantages of "country" living: the gym culture hasn't taken over. Who needs a gym when there's so much to do away from the treadmills?
...We also have a dedicated place for a gym. It's great having the extra room!...Oops, spoke too soon! ::) (But think of what you're saving on membership fees!)
...I would have been wiser when I cashed out of my house last year to move out of here - more difficult for me because I'm a native and have strong ties here. ...Whoa, wait a minute here! Before moving to Delaware, I'd never lived anywhere but in California, more specifically in the Los Angeles area. I've made the change fairly well, including the culture shock we knew I'd encounter.
And now I have to jump in the shower to meet friends for lunch. Will return this afternoon and give full opinions on last night's shows and the Friday Media Report.
You're taking a shower with a friend and having lunch...at the same time??
;)
Did anybody else watch last night's APPRENTICE?
SPACE in case you taped it.

I was disappointed with who Trump chose. And I was disappointed with Randall who when asked if Trump should hire Rebecca said NO! I get that there should only be one winner. But Randall has always come across as kind and generous. And I thought his actions just seemed mean.
Did anybody already mention that the TV version of ONCE UPON A MATTRESS got an over-the-top rave in the New York Times?
DR MATTH - these sitcoms that just go on and on so that there can be enough episodes to make it in syndication are just SAD. Of course there may be some kind of contractual agreement between the network and the creators that guarantees them a number of episodes or seasons. Who suffers? We do.
I am still horrified by such multi-season "hits" as SUDDENLY SUSAN, JUST SHOOT ME, and CAROLINE IN THE CITY.
In place of WITHOUT A TRACE, another rerun of a series I don't particularly like seeing episodes of a second time, I watched Wednesday night's CSI: NY. A wonderful episode about a panic room that had a complete surprise ending as to the identity of the murderer. I love being fooled like that!
I just found this image and it made me think of Tomovoz and Ozderek... so here it is... you are very much in my thougts and prayers TomThank you so much DR Vixmom.
DR TOMOVOZ: Sorry, your birthday greeting didn't quit work right, I see. It just sent you to the amazon Hairspray CD page. It was actually supposed to link you to the sound file of"Welcome to the Sixties"
as you have joined us in that august subgroup of HHW.
...MURDER SHE WROTE, so I just left it in and watched two episodes...I think the network also asked her to try to get the show to skew younger, for the demographics. The entire "Jessica moves to NYC to teach" arc was part of this, as I recall.
...In those early years, Angela loaded the shows with FAMOUS actors. In the later years, she used new talent (they were probably less expensive; by then, her production company was mouting the show).
TOTD: I'm listening to "THE BEST OF THE FOuR LADS".
I had a phone call yesterday from someone after a copy of "Somebody Loves Me".
We've been too busy to watch DVDs or TV etc.
I did buy a DVD yesterday. "Shaun Of The Dead". I shall blame HHW if it is not to my liking!!
I can already tell I'm going to be stiff and sore tomorrow after all that bending cleaning off my roof earlier this afternoon.
Oh, to be 30 again!
Well, if THAT does not get TCB posting then I don't what would!! LOL!
OK, back later with some comments on KINSEY.
EVERYTHING I HAVE IS YOURS
No! I shall blame Jose.
Media check:
Manhattan Tranfer LIVE! .... sure you got this one too, Dr George!

In the process, she gave a number of young people a chance to perform on national television. For example, glancing at a rerun der B was watching, some time ago, I was pleasantly surprised to spot Robert Beltran, later one of the leads on Star Trek: Voyager.
Thanks in part to DG Ann, I finally gave in to the sudoku (http://www.websudoku.com) craze. I am now hopelessly hooked on the danged things!
Rodzinski and I sometimes play a su doku challenge- where we make a photocopy of a puzzle and race to see who can complete it first.
Hey guys, just shoot me, but for the most part I really liked JUST SHOOT ME. I thought it was sometimes cruel and in bad taste, but it made me laugh quite a lot.
Oooo, this could be dangerous. We're both fiercely competitive when it comes to cards... and dominoes... and backgammon... and... But maybe I could actually win at this one! :D
Rodzinski never does... ;)
Rodzinski never does... ;)
Poached egg ravioli? I'm intrigued.
Well, we editors were treated to lunch at San Domenico's today and it was one of the best dining experiences of my life.
The first course was something I never knew existed: a ravioli with a poached egg inside of it. Don't know how they did it, but it was swell. Great service, great desserts.
Then I did some shopping, and now I am home, relaxed and free of the volatile subway system.
Shopping for what??
I am anti-popcorn in general. But it strikes me as a stomach-neutral snack.Nobody's asking me but I'm anti cop-porn in general or in colonel... ;)

Hey, I loved those shows...and Veronica's Closet too! LOL!
But then, as I said, I thought MR ED is funny. :D

Please, somebody, give this boy some taste for Christmas!!I suspect that Salem's one man Bollywood festival man thinks it is the rest of the HHW who need to catch up with his taste setting viewing patterns. LOL. Reindeer for courses I guess.
I just found the most ridiculously cute website: www.cuteoverload.com. They are having some problems with their photos right now, but if you click on kittens and scroll down some, there are the cutest pictures ever.
TPunk, DR Sandra and I used to be a foster home for the pound. We had LOTS of tiny kittens. Lots of cuteness at our house!
I am a-scared to even try Sudoku for fear that I will be hooked.
I got a book from the library today....long pause while Elmoore3003 picks himself up off the floor...the book was a special order from another library, THE PICTORIAL HISTORY OF INDIAN (Bollywood) CINEMA...
That thump you just heard was Elmoore throwing himself on the floor.
Off the roof! Did you watch OKLAHOMA! yet?
Good idea DearReader Laura.
I suspect the Bears will have changed position somewhat by then. They tend to want to socialise with the Bears furthest from where they are sitting!
