Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of the choosing of the songs, and now it is time for you to post until the choosy cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ORGULOUS!
-
First post after BK!
-
Well, today I'll deliver the last three props to the theater: a nice leather-like 3-ring binder; a garment bag that I just found at Goodwill last night; and a fake credit card. I found several credit card images on the Internet. I printed one I liked onto glossy photo paper and used double-sided tape to tape the picture to a Subway rewards card. Here's the picture that I chose. It's a flashy gold that should read well from the stage:
-
I also found an image of the back of a credit card and taped that onto the back of it. It looks pretty cool, if I do say so myself.
-
And now, I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
I am sorry I have been E&T . I am in a very bad place emotionally
-
I turn 61 on Thursday. I really don't want t start over looking fir anew job
-
If I do say so myself I am good at what I do ...but the stress of not having the correct staffing in p,and is going to kill me and I can't seem to get the owner to grasp the underlying issue. His new plan is to have his good friend ( who is currently unemployed having been once again layer off from her position as a manager at a lending institution) create a new procedures manual.
-
I have worked with this woman over the years at the various banks the she has worked for and been layer off from. She has no clear understanding of the basic day to day tasks needed to handle these transactions....the two of them have been taking management classes and have these great aspirations of the miracles this procedure manual is going to produce
-
Neither of them seem to grasp the fact that all the procedure manuals in the world are not going to suddenly increase the number of hours in a day.
-
Our issue had never been procedures we have great procedures, we have great software
-
We have inadequate staffing
-
Our church sexton ( think custodian) is leaving us soon.
-
Her husband decided to go back to school and become a minister and he has just been called to church in Pennsylvania
-
I am seriously considering applying for her soon to be vacant position ...scrubbing toilets and floors for 30 hours a week and freelancing in the afternoon as a Closer
-
I have not really caught up so I don't know what all of you are doing but I and my love and vibes to you all
-
And now to shower and start another workday
-
Hello from Reykjavík.
-
I am rather sleep deprived though I fear DR Vixmom is as well.
-
Thanks DR John. Did you have a nice weekend?
I do not blame B.J. ;)
-
Hugs DR Vixmom. I wish I could offer more.
-
Nice credit card George.
-
I am ready to go back to summer ;D
-
We land at 6:15 this morning. It is now11:15, feels so much later, and our room is not available yet. If I could wash up and change I am sure I would be warmer.
-
Good morning, all!
-
DR Vixmom, start the new job hunt now before the idiot who employed you screws things up worse. I cannot imagine there is not another realty company who could use your talents.
-
Travel vibes for DR JANE & KEITH
-
DR VIXMOM - that sounds like a good plan....
-
This is another City Center day. I look forward to Joshie's report on his Washington DC weekend to see Rob Berman's show at the Arena Stage.
-
A bit of shopping and banking today.....BAREFOOT rehearsal tonight....of course we had to cancel our Tuesday rehearsal because B/B added a Tuesday night performance....oh well.....
Saturday I start on SISTER ACT so I will be doing both shows at once, the director knew my schedule when she cast me...so I will not be there for some nights....but then again my character is only in three or four scenes. I am down for two songs and the finale....so we shall see....

Annabelle and I made our patrol. We met our new super, Basir. He seems nice.

I need to unpack but there is barely any room and I am too tired. Guess it is staying in the suitcase which needs to be removed from the door. If only there was room elsewhere for it ;D

Good morning.

Hugs, Vixmom. I also believe you would be swooped up quickly if you looked around at other places.
-
Monday morning greetings! I was pretty tired yesterday after my 4 days of commuting to Sharonville for the papercrafting show. Spent the day finishing my class projects and organizing and playing with some of my Saturday purchases.
-
Vibes for Vixmom!
-
Let’s move on
-
Three!
-
On my walk to work, I came across a raft of ducks (yes, I looked that up) along the shore. Really cute.
-
Elmore, have you heard the song, I Love Cats, from Love’s Labour’s Lost? Funny ditty. Don’t play it around Annabelle or Thatch.
-
Hugs and love for vixmom.

TOD:
Early TV themes were always so cutesy, I never particularly loved any of them. Although being such a fan of the show, I guess I liked "C'Mon Get Happy". I didn't start liking themes until later when they got a little more sophisticated as was the case with "Cheers" and "Nightcourt" and I'm not sure Bruce would consider that to be Golden Age. The only other song I really liked and frequently sang it around the house was the song that came at the END of "Just Shoot Me". It was a song called something like "Life Keeps Bringing Me Back to You".
-
Elmore, have you heard the song, I Love Cats, from Love’s Labour’s Lost? Funny ditty. Don’t play it around Annabelle or Thatch.
I would also not recommend letting them watch “The Bird with the Crystal Plumage”. No sir.
-
I found the "Freaky Friday" musical TV film much more emotionally exciting than I expected. At first, I was losing track of the mother being in the daughter's body and vice versa - but realized that even though this was Disney, they were playing it a bit PG-13, like "Big" had but with more abandon.
Once in a while, I did wonder about the use of colorblind casting (Does that work as smoothly on realistic TV as on stage? I assume these were actors who did the show onstage at some point). Would a minority actor playing a "villainous" person not convey something not meant by the writing, even if the character comes around later on?
-
Did I miss the definition of "Silver Age?"

That’s how old I feel today.

-
Vixmom, I was praying for you last night, hoping that something could be done about your job situation. It is clear that your boss is never going to understand the problem that exists. Also, it is quite clear that the current situation is killing you.
-
You need to get out of your current situation, as soon as you are able. I wish I had an answer for you.
-
In looking back, I have to wonder that when higher-level people would leave, he'd create this thing where the ones who remain have to work so much harder. This makes the people who remain be upset with the person who left, rather than wonder if the boss had any fault in the person leaving. It saves money but logically makes it more likely that others who remain, now working harder than they'd bargained for, start getting weary and looking to leave.
-
This bit of news and attached audio clip might be of interest to BK and perhaps a few others. The piano playing is, to say the very least, beyond stunning.

In addition to many named:
Is the theme from "Phyllis" in the right era for the TOD?
Also, I always liked the opening of "Family" with Sada Thompson walking in a dreamlike state
-
[I think that state was California. I think I thought all of California was like Pasadena.
-
Fingers crossed we can sleep. The curtains do a lousy job of keep the light out. If I get up at night chances are I will accidentally move them.
-
More fun vibes, Jane!
-
Jane - is it possible there is something at the sides that can be pulled in to block out light.
That happened to me in Scranton at a Radisson, and I couldn't believe there was no way to block out light. But they showed me it could be done after all, it was just not clear, as it had been pushed way in on the sides.

Sometimes there's something surprising I learn from that T'Bway board:
The real meaning of Gertrude Stein's quote about Oakland, "no there there"
https://www.huffingtonpost.com/matt-werner/oakland-in-popular-memory_b_1560227.html
Nearly 45 years later, Stein returned to Oakland on a lecture tour in 1935. By that time, the city had grown nearly 10 times to over 300,000 residents. When she tried to find her childhood home, it was no longer there. When she published Everybody’s Autobiographytwo years later, saying there was “no there there,” it was written to reflect painful nostalgia about her home being gone and the land around it being completely changed. The house where she grew up was on a sprawling 10-acre plot surrounded by orchards and farms. By 1935, it had been replaced by dozens of houses. Oakland held a special significance to her, and on her return, she found that Oakland had urbanized and changed from the pastoral place she remembered.
Gertrude Stein writes in her autobiographical novel, The Making of Americans, about her childhood in Oakland, where a child “could have all anybody could want of joyous sweating, of rain and wind, of hunting, of cows and dogs and horses, of chopping wood, of making hay, of dreaming, of lying in a hollow all warm with the sun shining while the wind was howling.” Returning to her home decades later to find it gone and to find Oakland no longer a place “of chopping wood, of making hay” struck her, and she wrote her famous “no there there” quote in response.

Hello, everyone.

Travel and vacation vibes to Jane and Keith.
Some friends of mine just returned from an Arctic cruise last week. They started in Norway. She said Iceland was cool--50s and 60s--but beautiful.
-
I'm still trying to recover from last week's painting. The paint fumes haven't dissipated yet, nor are my symptoms gone. This was a real breach of trust between me and the management. I no longer feel secure living here.
-
Vixmom, I'm so sorry this is so stressful. I suggest you start looking for alternatives. Even if you don't act on any of them immediately, I think it's comforting just to know there are options. And there are always options. Maybe not the ones we'd like, but something. I have no doubt that you are not only very good at your job, but few people would be willing to work the long hours. If your boss can't find qualified people to staff the office, then he needs to take on less work. I suggest you tell him you can no longer work so many hours, regardless of what he's promised the clients--and mean it. He sounds like the sort who needs to be hit with the proverbial 2x4 to get the message.

No. Michael Friedman wrote the score.
I vaguely remember this.
-
I'm really tired today.
-
Too many carbs.
-
And from one D.H. Lawrence to another. Now starting Women in Love, but I don't have the time to finish it all tonight. It's been more than 30 years since I've seen it. I don't think way back in the day that I realized how perfectly Ken Russell it is.
-
Well, I'm off to probably the last rehearsal that I'll go to. I have the last of the props that I know that I need to bring, otherwise, I won't go back until the performances unless they need anything else not previously thought of.
Be back later.
They started from the very beginning and are having a full run-through. It's a little rough (sound and lights need a little work) but it's going to be a good show!
-
They just started act two. Back to the show.
-
The run is done!
-
Actually, it was done about 15 minutes ago, but they're reworking a few moments here and there.
-
I actually have a few paper props that I forgot to print.
-
:o SPOO!
-
Also, I brought a garment bag tonight that they didn't use but the way it's blocked, they may not need it. I can return that and the pink backpack that I got earlier for Elle. They're not using that either.
-
But otherwise, the show is pretty solid. All of the actors are pretty good. They just need to be heard consistently. ::)

Good evening.

Sharry and Micheal are going to see LEGALLY BLONDE.

I told Sharry to ignore the singing, ignore the dancing, and ignore the acting.

Back from a three-hour casting session, then a meal to discuss. Must write notes now.
-
But otherwise, the show is pretty solid. All of the actors are pretty good. They just need to be heard consistently. ::)

Most will be but not all. They have a limited number of mics.
-
George, Sharry says hello.
Say hello back to Sharry!

Projection seems to be a lost art form.
And with a band that really blasts, the actors wouldn't be able to be heard AT ALL without mics. :-\

Sharry and Micheal are going to see LEGALLY BLONDE.
Cool!
-
Focus only on the props!
Hopefully, it'll all be worth it!
-
Tonight's rehearsal went to 11:00 pm.
-
Then I went shopping for a couple of things, then came home and had a late dinner -snack...not a full dinner, just a snack that will get me through my sleep because I don't want to make a whole big meal right before I go to bed.
-
PAGE SIX DANCE!!
-
Tomorrow, I need to see if I can get a couple of last minute props.
-
The rehearsal won't be at the theater so I won't need to be there...that'll give me more time to get them.
-
Tomorrow (today, actually) is going to be a long day. My friend Margo wants to see the new Mission Impossible, so we'll go.
-
No new notes at 4:28 in the AM EST?
-
Note to self: after 14 hour working day with no food just 3 cups o' Joe, Taco Bell is a poor, poor choice
-
On plus side... I am several pounds lighter
-
I have a couple of meetings at work tomorrow.
-
Or at least it feels that way
-
I also need to get the couple of props during the day because one of the places that I need to go closes at 6 pm. :P
-
Good morning, Vixmom!
-
Thank you all for the kind words and vibes
-
Well, I need to go to sleep. Hopefully, BK is writing some wonderful notes for tomorrow (actually, today)!
-
Good night Vixmom, and have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, Vixmom!
