Dr MusicGuy -- I can take you to the airport if I can take you earlier, like around 8 a.m. or even a little before. It is Vacation Bible School week.

Thanks Laura... I'll have to do a little checking, because that would be a little too early for some other stuff that I have to do that morning.  I'll let you know either way.

Are you teaching or providing child care for V.B.S. ?

I am lucking out this year. I am taking photos of all the activities this year. Last year I tried to do that plus teaching the precious little ones. It was really too much to try to be everywhere at once.

Plus, everyone will be in my office wanting office supplies. I seem to be the only one who knows where everything is.

And on that note, I think I, too, shall head to bed.  I'm off tomorrow, but I'm hoping to get a bunch of errands done.  So...

Goodnight.

It's raining beautiful cats and dogs on HHW!
I just watched DANCE, GIRL, DANCE for the first time and found it to be a remarkable film with exceptional performances and direction.
The scenes in the burlesque hall, and its dressing room, are the atmosphere which GYPSY should have tried to emulate.  Gritty and real, not to mention that outstanding performance from Maureen O'Hara and the joy of hearing Lucy's real singing voice - before the bourbon and ciggies took their toll.

I dunno, DR MusicGuy...I seem to recall Indianapolis being incredibly exciting, as I was there following up on some "Hopeful Heart" business...a little business named Trevor. Ring a bell? How is he? His Friendster profile claims he's now married. Color me confused!

If anyone who saw it would like to write something favorable, even just one or two lines, it would be greatly appreciated. Right now, we only have this one negative comment!

Well, I put it on order, paid the extra $3 to get it shipped promptly, and will view it with an open mind immediately on receipt.

I will only post a review that is, on balance, favorable.

(Having a fully credentialed fascist, favorably disposed to your work, might yield an interesting set of comments.)

Der B, I mentioned to the HEARTLAND promo producer that you/Fletcher were disapoonted to miss the repeat of the episode that was lost when they changed times. She said to remind you that you can watch it online at tnt.tv and if not, she could probably get you a copy.

Thanx so much; however, I have since discovered that COMCAST On-Demand offers the HEARTLAND episodes (but not in HD - They offer The Closer both regular and HD), so I am caught up. I do enjoy the show, except for the operating room scenes when the music is so damned loud!.

On line is not a practical option for use po-folk on dial-up.

I'm being held hostage in my own room. One of my roommates is sleeping in the living room because he doesn't have an air conditioner in his room, so I can't go out there to watch TV.

This does not please me as he still owes me $150 for the utility bills. I should go turn on all the lights and start chomping on popcorn or something in his ear while I watch "Xanadu."

Their other rationale is that "all the other networks are doing it", like USA, etc.

I see the makings of a great ad campaign:

Join the TNT - family; we don't strive to stand-out with excellance - we will not challenge you with exceptional productions.

Join us today!

TNT - Just Like All the Other Networks - and proud of it!

You are carrying "consideration" to an extreme. The NewThinYou needs to be more self-confidently assertive.

Go (quietly) into the LR, turn on the TV and enjoy - DARE him to complain!

If he persists in being annoying, buy a Wing CD and play it a full volume!

Finished Von Ryan's Express, and am listening to CDs I got tonight at Amoeba - I took quite a few of my old laserdiscs in, things that have been issued on DVD plus a few rare titles that haven't.  Despite the guy telling me they only give .25 for LDs, I got a huge amount of credit ($160) - don't know why - maybe he was feeling benevolent.  So I got about ten CDs and five DVDs.

Hello. Lately this summer I have been trying to hang around with some people my age. New friends, old friends,  college kids on summer break. I have concluded this:

It is not worth it. They only want to do the things they want to do, when they want to do them, no matter who it inconveniences. I have gone to movies, the beach, and a comedy club. In these experiences I have realized that I was slowly becoming like them. Not informing people where I was, putting aside other tasks, behaving thoughtlessly, and all in the name of "having fun because I am on summer break".

Tonight I realized it when I left half way through seeing Margaret Cho at a comedy club.  There was a missed opportunity. Then I got in trouble for not telling anyone where I was. Suddenly I was one of the people I make fun of.

No more I say! Work, then intelligent play and useful things. I really scared my mom tonight by not telling her where I was and I feel so stupid. I am glad I got that out of my system, but I really wish I hadn't even done it at all. It just seemed so innocent, so fun, but it was really just typical.

Anyway, that's my rant.

Teenagers.  Can't live with 'em, can't live with 'em.  I was a teenager once, many years ago in a galaxy far far away.  Even then, I didn't hang out with the popular people - I just did my own thing, saw the people I liked, and, most of all, tried to learn new things and grow as a human and a being, not necessarily in that order.

What was Margaret Cho doing at a Comedy Club?  Is she funny?

My mother never cared where I was, and I do believe she preferred it when I left at nine in the morning and returned at nine at night.  It was such a different world then - we didn't have cell phones, didn't have people monitoring us twenty-four hours a day, didn't have to report in every hour on the hour - it was FUN.  And the joke is, we probably were responsible because of the freedom.

My friend who was here has never seen THE CLOSER, can't afford an expanded cable package with TNT and has dial-up, too. (An underpaid music teacher who would like to move back east, but the pay here is even WORSE!) So I ordered season 1 sent to her. Since she wouldn't let us buy her dinner and bought ours instead, it was a way to get her back.
