Thanks, DR Jane.  He's had a nap and a shower and feels much better.

Good.

And the Dutch apple caramel cheesecake I brought him didn't hurt!

I might have to buy a dvd, George.

But then you would need a DVR and a TV.

Oh, yeah.

So, Texas has done away with last meal requests for inmates who are to be executed. Seems the following was ordered by one inmate, according to USA Today:

Brewer requested two chicken fried steaks, a triple-meat bacon cheeseburger, fried okra, a pound of barbecue, three fajitas, a meat lover's pizza, a pint of ice cream and a slab of peanut butter fudge with crushed peanuts. Prison officials said Brewer didn't eat any of it.

I don't know that I'd eat at all if I were facing the same fate, but I still probably wouldn't waste that much food, either.

I read about that, too.  One article said that some states have $ limit.  That would make more sense.

DR Laura, I thought I had mentioned that it was coming out. Mine arrived last week.
http://video.barnesandnoble.com/DVD/Forever-Plaid/Stuart-Ross/e/767685244111?itm=1&usri=forever%2Bplaid

What did you think of it? I saw at the movie theater with about six other people.

I would have loved to have gone to the taping.
Not the taping. The World Premiere simulcast at theaters around the country. Sad to say, it wasn't publicized in San Antonio, so there were only a few of us who showed up and shelled out our $20 a ticket. Still, it was fun seeing the Plaids sing with Carol Channing afterward.

Carol Channing was not on the DVD.  I wasn't able to see it in the theaters...it wasn't playing anywhere near where I live.

Tacoma Musical Playhouse, which is starting their 18th season tonight, has had the largest season ticket base of any theater in Washington.  This is their new season.

LITTLE WOMEN
PETER PAN (A new musical version)
XANADU
THE COLOR PURPLE
HAPPY DAYS: A NEW MUSICAL
JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT

Maybe I have become and old fuddy-duddy (not John Duddy), but this season does nothing for me.  Any other opinions?

Istanbul has been extremely hot and sunny again today. Visited the Topkapi Palace Museum which covers a very large area and consists of a rather confusingly laid out complex of attractive courtyards and numerous individual buildings. I'm sure everyone remembers the popular film TOPKAPI with Peter Ustinov involving the theft of the Topkapi jewelled dagger. It could be said that the film made the dagger famous.
Some of the Turkish food hasn't always been to my liking (I'm not known for adventurous eating) so for lunch today I had a Viennese Schnitzel!

Doug, did you know that Kritzerland (BK's very own record company) released the soundtrack to Topkapi? :D

I would go see Joseph, TCB. I'm not sure about the rest.

A new musical of Peter Pan is wrong.

I think my Kindle downloads a book in sixty to ninety seconds.

I haven't had to wait more than 15-20 seconds for the books that I've gotten!

Have a good rest of the evening, all. :)

I don't think that there is anything wrong with any of these shows, but together I think they are a rather dull season.

The book is GAP CREEK by Robert Morgan.  My B & N account status says it has not been shipped yet.  The email says "your latest read will download automatically via WiFi in seconds and be waiting for you right on your home screen."  I'll wait awhile & see what happens.

Keith said it sometimes takes awhile.

Yawn. I usually get after groups for doing too many of the classics at the expense of newer works, but this is just flat as a pancake.

Tomorrow afternoon, I have to attend a funeral.  After the service, at the reception, I will be reading a letter, written by the deceased, where he discusses theater and his playing of Emile in SOUTH PACIFIC.

I found out they program your address into the modem so if you call 911 it will register your address. But if you move and don't change the address in the modem you call 911 and the emergency people are sent to your old address

Not good.  I wonder if they send occasional requests for up to date info.

It's not that bad, they tell you not to move without getting the address changed in your modem.  That isn't that big a deal
