I saw it at Radio City Music Hall, the only time I have ever seen it! I have fond memories of it, but somehow have just never caught it on TV ever and have never owned a video copy of it either.

Had time to kill after leaving the office and going to meet a friend who is a playwright to discuss her work. Went down to the east village and shopped in some of the music stores I like. Got a nice Bruce Haack collection: "Hush Little Robot." And an LP collection of forgotten garage band music from the 60s. Plus one LP by a gal named Cherry Vanilla, and a Julian Cope CD.

That's so funny, Matt, because that is the D Day movie I have seen the most! I think it shows up on the HBO channels from time to time, for whatever odd reason.

Tonight I interviewed 1940s film starlet Rebel Randall...she did a lot of PRC and Monogram films during their hayday...she played a red herring in THE SHADOW RETURNS...she was a Ziegfield girl in MGM's ZIEGFILED GIRL.. and appeared in ARABIAN NIGHTS, HOLIDAY INN, HIT THE ICE and some Three Stooges shorts...the interview went well...but it was a strange experience

While at the Tower DVD store, I noted that there is a finite number of public domain films that are constantly re-packaged in different ways for sale. Do you want THE LAST TIME I SAW PARIS in the "bombshells" box set? Or the Movie Classics 10-pack? Awesome Dramas 16-pack? Random 8-pack? Four movies 4-pack? As a budget priced stand alone?

I've actually noted this for a long time, but it seems the number of packagings has increased of late.

I'm always curious how certain movies, some from major studios with big stars, ended up out of copyright protection.

And then there are movies with big casts that exist but are not available on DVD at all and were never on VHS. Like, who is holding up a movie like ADVANCE TO THE REAR? Is someone thinking they can make more money off that thing somehow by holding it back? You might say the movie isn't well-known enough for MGM to bother releasing it, but plenty of lesser movies at least seem to find the light of day.

If Joe E. Brown in EARTHWORM TRACTORS is out on DVD, then George Segal and Eva Marie Saint in LOVING should be out too.

What I am advocating, brothers and sisters, is immediate and total release of ALL movies that ever existed on DVD! I shall be in touch with my congresswoman.
