DR Cilla--they sure seem to know how to have fun in your town!

What is the water tower tradition? Sounds dangerous! Do they paint designs on it?

The watertowers are ground level, so I guess calling them towers is probably inaccurate, but everyone calls them that. Let's see if I can find a photo...here I found this on the web. This was from a number of years ago.

As you can see there is all kinds of stuff on the water tower. this is the crazier stuff, some of the other murals are much more subdued

I also watched the James Quandt critical analysis of the movie, and, of course, being a rabid fan of it, tends to overlook its weaknesses and shriek about its strengths. I don't blame him for writing such a passionate defense of something he obviously loves, but how he can prefer this to WOMAN IN THE DUNES I just don't know. To each his own.

They are not available at all in North Dakota or parts of Minnesota.

People lined up for 2 days in Sioux City. Most of the people interviewed on TV said they were buying them to resell them on eBay

I have already seen some on ebay. AT&T does not service ND or parts of MN where IPHONES would be used.

Cingular which was bought by AT&T never was available and taht is what the service is through.

I thought this was funny By Jon Markman
As everyone on the planet knows by now, Apple (AAPL, news, msgs) will release a drug on Friday that cures cancer, fixes broken bones and freshens your breath. No, sorry, I mean the company will release a definitive solution to world peace. No, that's not right either. It has solved the mystery of death, and on Friday it will simultaneously resurrect Albert Einstein, Jimi Hendrix and Princess Diana.

Well, actually, I guess that's not true either. Apple's got something bigger than that in mind. It's going to release a brand-new cell phone, called the iPhone! Which has a built-in camera! And accesses the Web! And has a touch screen!

I know you can just barely contain your excitement. I pretty much feel the same way---

Pet peeves

Drivers who have no clue what a stoplight or stop sign are for...

Manners of some cell phone users who have no concept of propriety or respect for others. They lack curtesy and discretion.

Another pet peeve is rude people who come to the desk and order to be served when they are on their cell phone.

The other is when Iam shopping and parents let their kids run amuck with shopping carts and among the merchandise and the parents do nothing.

My other one is people in stores who treat me like trash due to being hearing impaired and communicate with me like I was three years old. I may be HOH but I am not stupid!

Pet Peeves:
People who talk on their cell phones---in the movie theatre or in a restaurant.

People who can't talk on their cell phones and drive at the same time.

Cars with extremely loud, thumping stereo systems and their idiot owners who will be deaf in a few years.

People who litter, especially cigarette butts. Last night someone crused by my house and threw a 22 oz beer bottle at my car, and it busted right behind my rear tires. Fortunately I heard it so I didn't just roll over it the next morning, but I still had to get up early to clean it up.

Telemarketers who call way too early and wake me up the one morning I have a chance to sleep in.

People who realize they're in the wrong lane and sit there blocking traffic until someone will let them in to the right lane, totally interrupting the flow of traffic because of their selfish stupidity. Likewise, the people who run the light and then sit in the middle of the intersection, blocking the people who have been patiently waiting for the light to change.

People who never call to hire you and then call when they need something edited/recorded for free. (MY DH and I both get this. We do enough free stuff for people we like! And of course, if you do the job, the person will not remember you when they get a paying job.)

Developers and politicians with a sense of "entitlement" who make decisions solely based on what will benefit them the most.

People who drag race down my street, despite the little kids and animals who play in the street.

That's Why I Love Mankind!

I agree with on most of these. However I know I do play somethings loud but I try not to... My hearing is declining due to having Measles when I was a kid.

And a good report on George's show, too!

Thanks, DearReaderLaura!  Today's performance was pretty good.  The audience however, was smaller than the cast. ::) There are about 19 or 20 people in our show, but for today's matinee, there were only 13 people in the audience...but that was only for the first act!  We lost two people after intermission. :-\ Fortunately, they were a good audience throughout the whole show. :)

OH!...

Here's a bit of Shakespeare ;) to help start off your day:

The Hokey Pokey, by William Shakespeare:

O proud left foot, that ventures quick within
Then soon upon a backward journey lithe.
Anon, once more the gesture, then begin:
Command sinistral pedestal to writhe.
Commence thou then the fervid Hokey-Poke,
A mad gyration, hips in wanton swirl.
To spin! A wilde release from Heavens yoke.
Blessed dervish! Surely canst go, girl.
The Hoke, the poke - banish now thy doubt
Verily, I say, 'tis what it's all about.

:)

*That's from a Washington Post Style Section Contest from a few years ago where you had to "describe" a certain activity in a Shakespearean manner.  That was the winning entry.

This is funny!  I saved it and will bring it to our pick-up rehearsal on Thursday.  We don't have another performance until Friday, but one of the actresses won't be able to do the show at all next weekend.  Her understudy is already in the show and has learned the part (and is a pretty good actress, to begin with), so all she will really need is the one rehearsal with the cast.
