Post by: bk on April 19, 2013, 12:14:29 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of the amusing passing parade, and now it is time for you to post until the passing cows come home.

Boston Marathon bomber manhunt: One suspect dead, second on the run, police say

"After three days of investigations, the Boston Police Department has identified one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects as Ivy League student, Sunil Tripathi.

Tripathi, who is identified by a white cap in the FBI photos released late this week, was a philosophy major at Brown University, not far from Boston. He comes from a well-to-do family; his father is a rich software engineer.

The student went missing last month without a trace. The FBI became involved in the case, even though it was a presumed suicide.

Right before his disappearance, explosives were found near Brown University, however, they were destroyed in a controlled detonation. Police have yet to implicate anyone in the bomb scare.

Good morning, all!

Today is a day for laundry, dealing with a singer's agent/manager and, in general, a lot of things I would rather do another time.

DR Ben, thank you, and another thank you to our DR KevinH, for the passport information. I think there's a photo place at 82nd and Amsterdam to do my passport photos, so I'll check them out this morning as well.  Otherwise, it's a walk to 88th and Broadway.

I have nothing else to report.

You're welcome. It's much easier (and a bit cheaper) to do it on line. If you go through the Post Office you have to pay extra fees for processing. If you fill in the forms on line and send in the picture you only have to pay the fee to the government.

That concludes our medical advice for today.  :)

Been out for the morning cappuccino. The coffee shop does very tasty cheese and roasted tomatoe toasted sandwiches which I couldn't resist again - especially as I'd only had oats for breakfast which always leaves me feeling hungry mid-morning.

For no logical reason - with Daniel Craig going from SKYFALL to Broadway's BETRAYAL by Pinter, if anyone's looking for a sales pitch for the Broadway Pinter play which goes backwards.  this could really work..  Don't Scott Rudin and Mike Nichols have people reading here?  :)

Tune of SKYFALL

This is the end
But since it’s Pinter let’s pretend
Rules of drama are his to bend
Pray our play starts to trend

For this is the end
Start with the story’s closing moment
Like Merrily with pauses
We’ll soon see the causes

Let the plot fall
Watch it crumble
Then we’ll go back
To when they came together

Let this guy fall
Yes he tumbles
Sales will stand tall
They’ll sell great together
(With Rafe Spall)
That’s this fall

thanks to all the folks for the comments on the Carol Channing - Johnny Depp spoof-lyric  stuff.

If that becomes a real story again, maybe I should look at the old computer drive, that story had real legs a while back - Depp was and is always such an adventurous actor, that he says stuff you think is wild, but it seems he really means he'd like to try it if someone would do it.  When you "parody" someone like that, you do it with such admiration not jeering at all.

TCB and Danise - Thanks to both of you for sharing the stories of your rebounds from terrible situations to your current better outlooks.  Danise, I'm so happy things are at least starting to go your way.  And Tom, this is so cool that you were able to put aside enough for this trip, glad things are looking so much better these days given how bleak they had been.

HHW has been a continued blessing.  This gives me hope for the future.  You're a real inspiration and I'm going to try to use your rebounds as a guide to make lemonade out of lemons.   Thank you for sharing your hard times and your climbs back.  I've really needed this right now.

The photo  place is no longer at 82nd and Amsterdam, so I guess I will go later to 88th and Broadway. I did get to the post office and I have the passport renewal form.

I've heard from the actor's manager, so we'll see how it goes after we talk and he hears how little the producer wants to pay him! It hasn't stopped other wonderful talents from signing with us, but the last agent I dealt with turned us down flat since her client will make more staying in MAMA MIA!

I think it was Richard Lewis in some 1980's movie set in Paris who was sitting with his friends at a sidewalk cafe - they were all talking about what to do with their lives and he said after awhile:  Well, I guess I could go to New York and get back into CATS.

Is ANYone watching the current edition of "Project Runway"?

Last week, they had a final four who they sent home to create collections.  They mentioned not a word about them having a mini-runway show with one of them being "out" before Fashion Week.   They're devious devils.

I was very pleased with the outcome last night.  No more spontaneous emotional outbursts.  No more verbal diarrhea (or babbling).  No more wild hair (isn't it "fun"?).

So glad this person was sent packing.  Wish it had happened WEEKS ago!

How high does the baritone have to sing?  I don't believe Guy Haines's manager has heard a peep about this, but then again you'd have to be thinking outside the box, wouldn't you?

Did you put a time limit on your offer?

DR RonP, I would be watching the current season of Project Runway. But Lifetime Canada has not started airing it yet. :(

Hopefully soon. They've never started this far behind.

They may have felt the start of the new season was too soon after Project Runway All Stars (which ended one week before the new season of PR began here).

Probably. We were watching the All Stars version when the new season started in the US.

It's weird though because Lifetime Canada tries to show a lot of their shows at the same time as in the US. But they just don't seem to get it re: PR. We hate seeing shows with eliminations and winners late. It is SO hard not to hear about stuff. But I try so hard!

Today was our one day of warm weather. It was dreary out. But it was mid 70s. I was wearing a t-shirt!

But tomorrow it is supposed to be a high of mid-40sF :(

HHW is a wonderful supportive place -  i nevr would have gotten through chemo and radiation without you people and when I was rushed to teh hospital and the 15 year old Vixter was home it was here she turned for comfort and support -  and here she found it

And on that note (B-natural), I'm off to tonight's two performances of "Reservoir Dogs."  I think that there's going to be a karaoke party after the second show (which ends at about 11:30 pm).  I'll stay for a while, but I'm not much of a karaoke fan.  We'll see how long I last.

Until later!

This post makes me so happy.  It should be read by all those who've chosen to make their new home Facebook and continually ignore the support and friendship they were all given here every day.  I, too, have gotten through several situations that would have been unbearable were it not for this here site and its denizens, and the kind of kindness and support received here could NEVER happen on Facebook, which is simply too public and me, me, me, look at me aren't I the smartest and brightest - that's the aspect I loathe and I have to say to those whose names I need not say, if you think your stuff is being read by more people than here, all I can say is "What is the sound of one-hand clapping?"  For one person in particular, the ONLY comments he gets are from people here.  So, why can't he just come home to here where those people are like family?  It baffles me endlessly.

This beautiful butterfly was in my backyard today. They are usually in riparian areas. I have no idea what it was doing so far from home.

Good evening.    (said Alfred Hitchcock)

What a day.  Did some garage cleaning.  Followed some Boston coverage.  Watched ROOM 237 which was amusing enough and interesting here and there.

Warm day (nearly 70), and the windows are still open.  Enjoying it whilst we may, since it's cooler again tomorrow and for the next several days.  Nice rainstorm a while ago, very summer-ish.

Have to get up at 6:30 AM tomorrow to take a load of sh stuff to the annual city clean-up/dumpster day, after which I shall drop into the local record emporium to help toast National Record Store Day.  It's always fun to see the place well populated with happy and interested customers, even if relatively few of them are there to celebrate any of my tastes.  But that's all right.  It's a good store with good people, and everyone has a great time.

Last time I was in there I hurriedly flipped through some recent arrivals which notably included some of the plays on LP from the early 1960s, like VIRGINIA WOOLF and LUV (both of which I have), and I'm rather hoping to find a few I don't have that I can pick up tomorrow.

Gee, Fred, I wish I was that good with money.  If I was, I would take a job on Wall Street.  No, I am afraid that this trip is a gift from my ex.  We are much better friends than lovers.  I guess he got tired of me telling him how upset I am about more surgery.  Of course, he isn't going with me.  The Norwegian
Star would be a bit of a nightmare to him.  If he can't be in a Queens Grill Suite on the Queen Mary, he ain't gonna go.

Well, I have to be up at 4:00 to get to the airport, so I will bid all of you adieu

Not that I'm naming names, but has George all but disappeared from this here site?  I mean, what IS going on?  One could always count on his late night postings, but he has been in absentia for over two weeks now as I see it, just with the sporadic posts.  We don't like sporadic posts and George has some 'splainin' to do.
