THE LITERARY NOTES
« on: June 10, 2015, 12:15:43 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were literary, and now it is time for you to post until the literary cows come home - they're currently reading The MOOtian Chronicles.

I found the opening paragraph in today's notes quite entertaining.        :)

Enjoyed DR Dan M's video of Marilyn Michaels, too.

I think I forgot to add this story to my Sondheim comment yesterday, but I have told it before.  When I was 11 years old and saw the film GYPSY, I was startled to hear Rosalind Russell "sing": "Some people sit on their butts....got the dream, yea, but NOT the guts...."

She said BUTTS!

I can imagine the Elizabeth Moss was quite good in THE HEIDI CHRONICLES....I like that show....but haven't thought about it since I stage managed it for several weeks back in the late 1980's or early 1990's.....lots of sets (turntable) and lots of props.

Wednesday morning greetings!  Have to do a little gearing up for AAUW's garage sale (Friday and Saturday), then go to a new manicurist.  This will be only the 4th manicure I've had in my life and the first one with someone who speaks English.  I met Wendy at the Women's Wine and Chocolate Walk last month and her new salon is just down Central Avenue.

Good morning, all!  I slept late and I am pondering my day. I have no plans beyond working on the Moross score, but I do need a trip to the market.

I worked with Marilyn Michaels around 1985.  Oy! Never again.

The City's a mess this morning: two buses collided in the Lincoln Tunnel.  I am very happy I am not trying to get through midtown.

Yesterday's TOD:
"Company". I saw it at Reprise! at UCLA. Jean Louise Kelly played Amy and Judith Light played Joanne. Although I admit I'd heard Sonheim's music earlier through benefit tribute shows, but "Company" was the first show I saw in it's entirety.

I'm back from my young cousin's graduation in Scranton, PA, where she was the co-valedictorian.  She gave an absolutely beautiful speech, the ceremony was really lovely, and the post-graduation dinner was very good.

The big song that the kids (they're 13 and 14) seem to love to dance to right now is called "Shut Up and Dance."  They really go wild when shouting out those words.

Did that title originate with Sondheim in GYPSY?  Or was that an expression already?

It does look messy at the tunnel.  The bus I came back on this morning from Scranton was diverted through another route, and of course the delay on our bus was explained and understandable.
