Well, I had a rather nice surprise - about an hour ago I got a call from the Apple Store saying my computer was ready.  So, I went down there, we spent a few minutes looking at everything, and I am now posting from a brand spanking new computer - it's amazing.  I have the new trackpad thing and as soon as I get used to it it's going to be so much more fun than a mouse.

...I was about to say that most large data transfer jobs take at the most two hours.

Glad you're enjoying your new iToy. :)

OK I'm sick of this weather.  It was 53 degrees today. No rain, no snow, just dry and 53.  This is not right

I appreciated the mild weather before Christmas, but now that it's over I wouldn't mind a cold snap and a snowfall.

It "snapped" nicely here in Northern Virginia over the course of the past couple hours.  Of course, my proper winter jacket is in Richmond.

I got seasons 1, 2 and 4, DR JRand.  I was going to try another Target for season 3 but the traffic and sun were getting to me and I realized that the sale is on for the entire week so I can try for it another day.

Do you happen to know if the "Modern Family" sets dropped down to $9.99 too? Like they were on Black Friday weekend.

We are supposed to get some kind of snap tomorrow in the Philadelphia area--wild winds and torrential downpores and maybe some thunderstorms.  Sounds more like Good Friday weather.

And of course like so much theater, the actors are getting paid, but the musicians who are providing them with music?  Nada.

Hmmm... In my experience, it's usually been the other way around. Even going back to my community theater days.

I don't think they were, DR Jose--I can't picture the price reduction tag beneath the copies I saw on the rack.

In fact, I just took a gander at the flyer and MODERN FAMILY is not featured.

I spent part of the evening rewatching the first two episodes of DOWNTON ABBEY on dvd.  I want to revisit the first season before the second starts in the next week or two.

Really, if you haven't seen this show yet, check it out!

NO MAIL TODAY.....it is a Federal Holiday!

I did not know that!  I looked at the USPS website and didn't see a holiday on the 26th.  Now I can stop staring out my window searching for my mail lady (or listening for her--the woman carries on non-stop cell phone conversations as she delivers.)

I had checked the calendar on the USPS website too. There's no "holiday" listed on the "grid", but it does show up under "Postal Holidays 2011" under the "Newsroom" section on about.usps.com. ???

And, yes, next Monday, January 2, 2012, is another Federal Holiday.

bk - As for this observation in today's Notes:

"Then I did the four-mile jog, surprised that the streets weren’t completely empty – in fact, there were a surprising number of cars out – does no one stay home and celebrate Christmas anymore?"

Well... Just remember that not everyone celebrates, observes Christmas. Or Sundays for that matter. ::)

THanks, for the postal info, DR Jose.  I'll know where to look next time.

Playing and figuring things out. So far I've got everything working and looking the way I like it - the only problem so far that I'll have to call about tomorrow is that it's not finding or recognizing my wireless printer.  Have to figure that one out.  It should have taken all those settings from the old computer so I'm not sure what's up with that.  Getting used to the new keyboard and still getting used to the trackpad, but am already loving that I don't have to move a mouse around anymore.
