JMK, it's Patricia Cornwell and her book is PORTRAIT OF A KILLER, where she says artist,Walter Sickert, is the killer. I haven't read her book yet, so I don't know what new evidence she may or may not bring to her case, but it is hardly the first time Sickert has been bandied about as the Ripper...notably JACK THE RIPPER: THE FINAL SOLUTION by Stephen Knight in 1976 and SICKERT & THE RIPPER CRIMES by Jean Overton Fuller in 1990. In JACK THE RIPPER: A to Z, by three noted Ripperologists, Paul Begg, Martin Fido, and Kenneth Skinner (with a foreword by another, Donald Rumbelow) states that most of the evidence and stories suggesting Sickert remain uncorrobated and extreme caution should be used in considering him the killer. Maybe Cornwell's come up with something new...but it seems to me, I remember some skepticism when the book first came out.
