Just arrived at my office desk:  the CD releases of Lily Tomlin's four comedy albums--This Is A Recording, And That's The Truth, Modern Scream, and On Stage.

One ringy-dingy!  *Snort!*

Reading about DR George's dilemma of house sitting at a house without a DVD player isn't as weird as I would have thought two weeks ago.

In helping my brother set up a home theater in his house, I found out he has NEVER had a DVD player. The one he buys for his home theater will be his first! Amazing how some of us keep up with technology, especially a technology that is obviously replacing an older technology (VHS) rapidly (even basic DVD recorders are coming under $200 now) and others just couldn't be bothered.

My parents did not want (and never had) a VCR!

Just read the VARIETY review of the new movie version of BEWITCHED and sad to say it's a pan. (A film critic friend of mine who also has seen the movie passed along his opinion that it's a grave disappointment).

I hate that such a lovely TV show, one of my fondest remembrances of my youth, has not been done justice in a movie version. Thankfully, the DVDs of the show are now starting to make their appearances, so I'll stick to them.

Beware that the BEWITCHED 1st season boxed set is being offered in a colorized edition as well as the original black and white.

We're both torked off enough with her, as it is.  She thinks our car smells too much of dog, and it makes us smell like dogs.  That's why she sprayed our car with some anti-smell stuff.  The car now smells like a French whorehouse.

SWW I suggest you clean that stuff out of your car.  There is a good chance at least one of the dogs is allergic to it.

To get oders out I use Odo Ban which I mail order.  If you have a Sam's Club you can find it there.  It is a natural enzyme cleaner.  Another option is to sniff various enzyme cleaners for dog oders and buy one you like. ;D

I see BK hasn't arisen from his round, Hollywood (and possibly rotating?) bedstead yet.

What side does one sleep on in a round bed?

I, myself, have been up since 5:30 a.m., PDT.  I got up with the birds....well...with the bird that lives a couple of units below me.  That little sucker chirps his heart out first thing in the morning when his master takes the cover off his cage which is next to their balcony door.   It is so joyous that it has never been irritating.

I've been out and about, bought coffee, took clothes to the cleaners, went grocery shopping, and I got back home at 7:30 a.m.

The whole day is ahead of me waiting to be explored and discovered.

Pondering the possibilities, I just think I need a nap first.

And yet, a few weeks ago a person on one of "those" chat boards said it was a GREAT film (Bewitched) because Kristin Chenoweth was in it.  I am agog, oh, yes, I am agog to find out it may be less than wonderful, aren't you?

Good Morning!

I'm up.. A little groggy still, but I'm up.

-My sinuses have kicked back in for some unexplained reason.  Hopefully, my breakfast/brunch will help clear things out.

But enough of me...

Friday Media Check...

I finally got tired of the silence I usually "like" when I'm on the computer - meaning I'm too lazy to get up and put something in the CD player... ;)  So...

Barbara Cook - "Barbara Cook's Broadway"
Unsung Sondheim
Jason Graae - "You're Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile"
The Manhattan Transfer - "Vibrate"
The Sweet Smell of Success (OCR)
Richard Goode, pianist - Bach: Partitas Nos. 1, 3 & 6

It has come to my attention that very few Pacific Northwest hainsies/kimlets have RSVPd for either our gathering or the reading.  That is very disappointing, and I'm hoping this situation will be rectified today, oh, yes, I hope this situation will be rectified today.

In other news...

I actually received and e-mail (finally!) this morning from the local contractor, and shortly after reading it, I received a phone call (finally!!!!!!) from him too.

In short...

-I'm on payroll for the rest of the run.
-I'll get the "missing half" during the last week.
-And other assorted details and "mysteries" were also worked out and discussed.

I'm still a little "annoyed", but at least I know where things stand right now.  And, financially speaking, it will all even out eventually.  Hoo and Ray!

And best of all, I now know for sure that I can comfortably "survive" in NYC for at least two months right off the bat!

Jose, did you find out anything about this streaming problem?

What's the media type?

Audio - Quicktime? Real Player? Windows Media Player?

Video - Quicktime? Real Player? Windows Media Player?

OH!

Are you browsing from with AOL?  or using Safari? Mozilla? IE for Mac? Camino?  (which I'm liking a lot - it's Mozilla specifically for Mac)

I do know that the AOL browser for Mac will cause a lot of streaming clips to be downloaded since most streaming clips are configured for IE (PC) and AOL's browser doesn't function properly in that regards all the time.

I think BK, that a couple of Washington-ites have not yet RSVP'd, but I have it on good authority that they will be there on Monday.

Good, and make sure Jessica Skerritt is there, too!

Problem solved re streaming video and audio.  Spoke to AppleCare (the best tech support group EVER) - they basically said what Jose said - Windows Media Player and Mac don't work well together.  He suggested I use Internet Explorer to try and view, and that worked perfectly, so we'll put that info on the site.  We may also add Quick Time as an option.  So, I finally watched the whole video clip, which is lots of fun, AND you get to hear more song selections from After the Ball.

*Just keep in mind that Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player are still Microsoft products, so they're still not that compatible on a Mac.  I've had no real problems with Windows Media Player for Mac, but IE for Mac is admittedly a little buggy.

However, they're both free downloads, so...

Well... Well... Well...  (ah, a She Loves Me reference - but I think I need a few more "wells"...  in any case...)

Funny how these things work out...

First the e-mail and phone call from the contractor...
Then a phone call from the main office in Manitoba...
Then a phone call from the assistant conductor...

I guess it pays to be the squeaky wheel, so to speak.  Or at least to ask for some answers to some questions that were asked weeks ago.

I loved BEWITCHED as a child, and I still hold out hope for the movie.  Perhaps it is not brilliant but merely enjoyable.  I love romantic comedies, and am really looking forward to seeing this one.

I did see one clip with Kristin Chenoweth and she was jumping up and down and screaming. Hopefully the rest of her part will be better (she plays Nicole Kidman's friend, and it's quite funny to watch the tall Ms. Kidman standing beside Kristin).

The whole premise of the the "Bewitched" movie just seems like a recipe for something mediocre.  We shall see... probably on DVD in a couple of months.. or in my case, a couple of years.

OK - I need to putz around the house for a while, get some stuff cleaned, straightened out, etc.

And it also looks like I may be going out tonight to a "special interest" establishment or two.
