T.O.D.

Growing up in Tacoma, Washington in the 1950s meant that I had never seen an actual deli.  In the Seventies, we had the chain of Hoagy's Corner, which was basically 7-11 with sliced meat. I never knew what a real deli meant until I moved to New Jersey.

I have been to a lot of delis in new York, including the Carnegie Deli.  My favorite, just because I have eaten there the most is the Celebrity Delicatessen by the Milford Plaza.  I have yet to eat at Artie's, but I hope to some day.

Hmmm, this is not good.  All alone, not even a Guest to play with.

The Celebrity Deli is now closed due to the gut renovation of the Milford Plaza. The entire hotel is closed and based on what's posted at the Web site it doesn't look like it will re-open anytime soon

I wish I could find a good corned beef sandwich in Tacoma.

Milford Plaza

That is too bad.  It was certainly a convenient location for seeing Broadway shows.

Then what are you doing indoors at 1:00 p.m in the afternoon, Bem?

Yeah, right!

I just came in from a couple of errands. I got a haircut and I went to the post office to get a box to mail Christmas presents to my niece and nephew in Minnesota but the box is too small so I will have to go back out or go to a UPS store for another box.

TOD:  Langers' pastrami!

BK, Derek Keeling apparently went to my alma mater of University of Kentucky and is touted as one of their success stories along with yours truly.

Christmas presents?

Yep, I got them at the recent Broadway Cares Flea Market. They are all wrapped and ready to ship. I just have to find a box in which to put them.

I have returned from the NYPL. I had a good morning of research and note taking and I'm abut to put away the groceries and put my feet up. The past week has got me feeling under the weather and all I want to do is nap.

Derek Keeling's lady friend Brandi is a wonderful singer, BK! I thought she was quite lovely in A TALE OF TWO CITIES.

Hello, everyone. (I don't think anyone's here right now. Oh, well.)

Just stopping in briefly. I didn't sleep well and did indeed have a disturbing dream. I have things to do around the apartment today, some of which are now done, and am glad to have a day mostly to myself. (Do I sound like BK or what?)

I have no news.

I will comment, though, on Netflix. Their servers were down the other day, for most of the day, at least when I checked in. I received an email from them yesterday, apologizing for that and allowing their members to request a 2% refund from their next bill. 2% for me is less than a dollar, but I like the idea. I do use their streaming video and I could not that day. They were upfront about the inconvenience and provided some compensation. I'd like to see more of this sort of thing from Corporate America.

Theater-folk are a strange breed.  We may argue and gossip, but when someone suffers a personal  blow, we all come together.

This week we found out that the Artistic Director of one of our local theater companies has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Liver Cancer.

It is amazing to see everyone rally around him.
