And I have to agree with TPunk...it was NOISY!! LOL! Which gave very little opportunity to chat with anyone....and even when someone was talking to me I would usually just nod by head and smile or laugh as though I actually was able to hear what they said! LOL!

Hmm.. my friend who described Splash to me had implied that the dancers wore very small bathing suits when the showers hit them. Didn't realize it was actually underwear. But I guess there's not that much difference from a practical (that is, coverage) point of view, as anyone who's watched the Olympics diving and swimming events could attest.
With BONES and HOUSE on hiatus during the baseball playoffs, the television line-up is considerably thinned out for me tonight....Good news, as far as I'm concerned. Der B and I have to leave way early tomorrow, and we'll need our "beauty" sleep. (Such as it is. ::))
Does anyone else who is NOT in New York feel slightly IRRELEVANT this morning?I'm certain those in Los Angeles feel pretty great. ;)
:D
Does anyone else who is NOT in New York feel slightly IRRELEVANT this morning?
:D
I'm meeting a friend for a Chinese lunch today (sadly, not a buffet), so I must hurry and get ready for that.
WBBL.
Does anyone else who is NOT in New York feel slightly IRRELEVANT this morning?
:D
Well.. Since we're in New York City, I believe the proper term would be, "chopped liver", as opposed to "IRRELEVANT".
;)
However...
I'm sensing there's a good chance there may be a Bay Area gathering sometime in last January...
:)
Chinese lunch reminds me of Yom Kippurs in Brooklyn, when everyone would leave synagogue when the fast day was over, and - as if in a procession - would make a beeline towards the Jade Pagoda Chinese resturant in the Trump Village Shopping Center.
OK, here it goes.
Thanks, Ron. You in particular were there and in your own special way guided me through my graduating from Full Member to Senior Member, and that helped give me the courage and strength to take the next step up. For that, I thank you.
I am still trying to figure out charging more for a photo if you come and pick it up.... Strange.
Many thanks, JRand.
If only I could email a picture, but I really AM that computer-stupid.
ANyone see MEDIUM last night and care to comment? From everything I read about the episode, it's a far more dramatic episode for Patricia Arquette than the one that won her the Emmy last year.
Sounds like last night's Medium was not well done--that's rare!
Oh, I just crack myself up!
Sounds like Mr. Haney is running that store.
Wonder if they have a Hoyt-Clagwell tractor in the back? ;D
Oh, I just crack myself up!
Physically ENIAC was a monster—it contained 17,468 vacuum tubes, 7,200 crystal diodes, 1,500 relays, 70,000 resistors, 10,000 capacitors and around 5 million hand- soldered joints. It weighed 30 tons, was roughly 2.4 m by 0.9 m by 30.5 m, took up 167 m² and consumed 160 kW of power. Input was possible from an IBM card reader, while an IBM card punch was used for output. These cards could be used to produce printed output offline using an IBM accounting machine, probably the IBM 405 .
Synagogue ran a little longer than expected.
dial-in bulletin boards. These were portals in which you had to navigate by using arcane Unix commands. There were paths which led to a lot of Star Trek games and a lot of Goth chat rooms. Information could be found through early search engines such as Gopher, Archie and Veronica. This is the environment where the real computer geeks thrived, but I found these to be needlessly complicated and gave up on them pretty quickly.

Merry Christmas - The Last Starfighter
Back in October, I reviewed a performance of The Last Starfighter. It recieved a lot of attention and helped the creators of that musical in terms of recognition and attendance. About a week ago, they sent me a very special gift: a Demo CD of the Last Starfighter Musical, performed by the Original Cast at the show I saw at the Storm Theatre in New York City.
I asked if I could make copies, and they said yes, except that it could not be sold, because of Actor's Equity rules. It is to function as a demo of the musical (created by Skip Kennon and Fred Landau) and for the people performing it.
In the spirit of that and the holiday season, I am now providing this music to the world. This is going to kill my bandwidth connection, and I hope some kind soul could put up a bittorrent or a mirror to help me.
...([link to file - deleted to protest the innocent]
I hope that this will open doors for the cast, crew, and creators of this musical; information on the production is included in the pack and of course I can be contacted if there are any theatre groups or performers looking to run this musical; I think it's pretty timeless.
Happy Holidays.
And now for my daily Carrot Stick bitchfest.
DR DerBrucer - There better not be a quiz on the above tomorrow!
;)
DR Ron Pulliam (and Matthew, and...) - I'm working on heading out to San Francisco for the last week of Lestat. I won't be playing the show, I just want to see it. -And then I'll head back to DC, and play the last week of Damn Yankees at Arena. It will sort of be a working vacation. I'm still waiting for the official clearance from the contractor in DC, but it looks like a very viable option right now. I just really want to see the show before it comes in to New York.
I'll keep you posted.
-And as for what that $65 will get you... Well, a friend of mine just moved out there to be one of the new sous chefs at Bouchon, so....
:)
DR Jose - nice to hear your news. Be sure and let us know when you know for sure when you'll be here so we can get tickets for the same day - that is if that's what DR Ron wants to do, but it's definately what I'd like to do. And I'm sorry, I can not offer you an eating walking tour, but I can offer you a tour of the city if you'd like.
Jose....I'm working on a synopsis of our 'new' musical. I'm quite proud of it if I do say so myself...
Last night DR MBarnum was introduced to the vocal stylings of this...erm...little lady.
Oh, I think after he read the synopsis, he (or she) would definitely be on board. It's a sure-fire hit! Actually, it's THREE sure-fire hits. How can you go wrong with that??
This is the one with Neil Patrick Harris playing a supporting role and stealing the show handily from everyone else.
Honestly, it's a JOKE how much funnier and more watchable he is than any of the other leading players on the show.
DR JOSE who did you vote for on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE?
I watched MEDIUM this afternoon when I got in from lunch. I found it quite wonderful, and I liked it so much because for at least the first half hour, I couldn't tell where it was going, and I always love surprises like that.
MEDIUM, more than most series, has attempted to keep things always changing, always interesting so that you're never quite comfortable with how a story unfolds. Many episodes are not like previous ones, and I think this is one thing that sets it apart.
I can't help but like Jennifer Love Hewitt.
OK, here it goes.
DR ELMORE - I know exactly what you mean. I have two colors of skin myself: white or red. And I ALWAYS wear a hat as well!
<SNIP>.... and I can't help but like Jennifer Love Hewitt.
I right after she sang that song, they kicked her ass out of the group. :-\
SNOW WHITE and CINDERELLA are okay. But for me SLEEPING BEAUTY will always be the animated Disney fairy tale closest to my heart.
You will always be BriarRose55 to me, Jrand!
Fred: We'll do a quick headshot session tomorrow and I'll whip up an avatar for you if you want.
SNOW WHITE and CINDERELLA are okay. But for me SLEEPING BEAUTY will always be the animated Disney fairy tale closest to my heart.
Jason, that is probably the dirtiest post you have ever written!!!
Jason, that is probably the dirtiest post you have ever written!!!
...have I been so entertained by the naming of a child.
-And as for what that $65 will get you... Well, a friend of mine just moved out there to be one of the new sous chefs at Bouchon, so....But...Bouchon is in Yountville. That's not exactly in the Co of SanFransis. Closer to Napa. (I know ghosts from that area. My great-grandfather was the sheriff of Hangtown, aka Yountville.)
TOD:My first real encounter with the world of computers was when der B brought one home with him from work. It felt like he had brought home a mistress, or something, the passion was that obviously consuming.
A catalog of my computer experiences would be almost as lengthy as a catalog of my debauchery (but not as interesting).
Since this is a family site, we'll stick to part one.
And now for my daily Carrot Stick bitchfest. ...a really foul-smelling veggie burger...Wait a sec...She's got to be stowing that veggie burger somewhere, right?
Walking is good.
NCIS is on tonight followed by THE AMAZING RACE. And sooner or later, TCM has to run out of Robert Mitchum movies.
Hmmm...Lois has quite a built on her. 8)It's called a rack. :o

Have I had too much wine or is my avatar all blurry??
I can't seem to figure out how to make it work...
SNOW WHITE and CINDERELLA are okay. But for me SLEEPING BEAUTY will always be the animated Disney fairy tale closest to my heart.
DB Jed informs me that Jose has already posted a similar paragraph to the one I just did...well :P to that, I still think this one is cool. Hope you don't mind a little redundancy. Anyway, it was a long time ago :)
Alas, no TV watching for me tonight.
;)

As I predicted, NBC has shelved INCONCEIVABLE, the Friday night show very few people were watching.
That makes three shows currently pulled:
HEAD CASES
LOVE, SEX, and ?
INCONCEIVABLE.
Wonder what will be next?
DR Der Brucer - Jason Scott of ascii.com was a very big supporter of LAST STARFIGHTER, and we had sent him the demo version of the score in part to thank him for his support. The demo was comparatively rudimentary instrumentally because it was, well, just a demo. The CD that will be released is much more sophisticated, especially in terms of instrumentation and sound effects, than the demo (the link to which Jason Scott deactivated when we asked him to, although it looks like he left his text up even after deactivating the demo link).
DR George - It's the same cast - that's the cast of the original production and no one wanted to change that. But pretty much entirely different orchestrations, and a good number of changes in the way the songs are presented, really the difference between something sort of "thrown together" hurriedly as a demo versus what is being released, which is a real cast recording with the real orchestrations that the composer wanted to have for the score.
Well George, it's just you and I... while the other side of the country prepares for the eating and walking tour. How does that make YOU feel???
