I also recorded the awful (according to a 30 year old memory) THE BALLAD OF JOSIE off one of the cable movie channels. I'm curious to watch this again to see if I can find anything entertaining about it now. The first time I saw it years ago, I thought it was one of the worst movies I ever sat through and was so disapppointed for Doris Day that it was such a clunker.

Maybe time has been kind to it.

TOD:  If suspense films counts, I'd say MASSACRE AT CENTRAL HIGH, which I didn't appreciate when I first saw it, but I learned to love it during subsequent viewings.

I can still hum THE BALLAD OF JOSIE's title song after seeing the movie just once over thirty years ago.  Very catchy tune.

That's perfectly fine, too.

But you never need to make excuses for anything you watch, listen to or read.

Most of us won't judge you one way or the other for it.

Dan - There actually was a bank which did an ad campaign around "7-1/2 Cents."  It went something like:

Five percent on checking
Doesn't mean a heck of a lot
Five percent on checking
Doesn't mean a thing.
But give it to me every day
Seven days of every week
And that's enough for me to be
etc, etc

Well... D. Day, hotelier, mentioned in her auto-bio that she met someone on JOSIE who played a supporting role...who got his own series that ran when her show was on, and that they had a fine satisfying affair even though he was married.

Never been able to figure out who it was....Goerge Kennedy?  David Hartman?  Enquiring minds want to know.

DR MATTH I didn't know Rona Jaffe was part of the commentary....though I hate how FOX edits them....grrrrrrrrrrr  I may have to buy that one though.

For MattH

Quote
Victoria Day
Sovereign's birthday

The Sovereign's birthday has been celebrated in Canada since the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901).

May 24, Queen Victoria's birthday, was declared a holiday by the Legislature of the Province of Canada in 1845.

After Confederation, the Queen's birthday was celebrated every year on May 24 unless that date was a Sunday, in which case a proclamation was issued providing for the celebration on May 25.

After the death of Queen Victoria in 1901, an Act was passed by the Parliament of Canada establishing a legal holiday on May 24 in each year (or May 25 if May 24 fell on a Sunday) under the name Victoria Day.

The birthday of King Edward VII, who was born on November 9, was by yearly proclamation during his reign (1901-1910) celebrated on Victoria Day.

It was not an innovation to celebrate the birthday of the reigning sovereign on the anniversary of the birth of a predecessor. In Great Britain, the birthdays of George IV (1820-1830) and William IV (1830-1837) were celebrated on June 4, birthday of George III (1760-1820).

The birthday of King George V, who reigned from 1910 to 1935, was celebrated on the actual date, June 3 or, when that was a Sunday, by proclamation on June 4.

The one birthday of King Edward VIII, who reigned in 1936, was also celebrated on the actual date, June 23.

King George VI's birthday, which fell on December 14, was officially celebrated in the United Kingdom on a Thursday early in June. Up to 1947 Canada proclaimed the same day but in 1948 and further years settled on the Monday of the week in which the United Kingdom celebration took place. George VI reigned from 1936 to 1952.

The first birthday of Queen Elizabeth II, in 1952, was also celebrated in June.

Meanwhile, Canada continued to observe Victoria Day. An amendment to the Statutes of Canada in 1952 established the celebration of Victoria Day on the Monday preceding May 25.

From 1953 to 1956, the Queen's birthday was celebrated in Canada on Victoria Day, by proclamation of the Governor General, with Her Majesty's approval. In 1957, Victoria Day was permanently appointed as the Queen's birthday in Canada. In the United Kingdom, the Queen's birthday is celebrated in June.

It's also Victoria Day in Canada whatever that celebrates. Surely that's not Queen Victoria? Maybe one of our Canadian DRs can illuminate us?

I dunno.....

Top of the evening folks!

I keep forgetting about that pesky time difference thing.  It's hard to remember since I'm "talking" to you all at the same time that your not in the same time zone.

I still want to send vibes to DR TCB--I hope everything is goind well.

Coffee isn't good for you.  It makes you nervous.  I know I can't drink it.  I get this tingle going up and down my arms everytime I try a cup.  But I LOVE the smell of coffee--well most of the time.

The other day someone brewed a pot (and yes, I happen to sit where the break/coffee area is with no door) and I swear it was strong enough to get up and walk down the hall! :D

The distance in the shot gets fuzzy when I shrink it enough to post it, but it's a pretty view with the steeple of one of the Catholic Churches in the background

LOL!  I think about ten people have reminded me but thanks!  It is a church not a street.  They were nice enough to donate some of their land to make a bus station for the local people.

I'll have to take a picture and post it when I get off the bus.  At the church! ;)

I have a ton of pictures I would like to share.  Since I have the new camera, I've been taking pictures of anything and everything.  It's not uncommon for me to snap at least a hundred of them at time.

Lord, I love digital photography!
